APPEARANCE With a formidable height and calculative air around him, many question Angel's true age, simply due to the maturity he exude in both his mannerisms and speech. Rather than bulking muscles, his body is wonderfully long-limbed and lithe. Gentle aesthetics are reinforced by the untouched ivory of his skin. Unafraid to experiment with himself, Angel has dyed his naturally black locks into an array of colours, but more recently he has developed a fondness for shades of purple, and the appropriate eyeshadow to make his sharp eyes enticing behind the silver rims of his glasses. Santino is born on a rather chilly February morning in Sicily. His mother - barely into adulthood - was wholheartedly enamoured by the miracle that had just happened to her, while his father - a South Korean who was nearly ready to return home from uni - was less than impressed. Santino grew up in a traditional Italian home - very family oriented as well as deeply rooted in the Catholic faith. He helped out in his grandparents' bakery and relished the times his mother brought him to museums and art galleries. He loved Donatello, Rafael, Leonardo and Michelangelo and more so the men of the Renaissance who they were named after (TMNT, anyone?). He was so gentle and loving that it seemed almost, feminine, but before any of his family could really ponder on it much, his father - after twelve years of no communication, suddenly developed an interest in his son, and requested that he visits along with his mother.
The devil has multiple faces
Seunghyun - his father - was almost haggard in appearance, bearing almost no resemblance to the man that had once captured Isabella's - his mother - heart. Not wanting to let Seunghyun influence young Santino, she refuses to extend her two-week visit, and supervised the periods Seunghyun came to see Santino. On the eve of their departure, Seunghyun showed up in a drunken state with a group of men behind him, demanding that they stay. He admitted that once he returned to Seoul after Santino's birth, he turned to substance abuse and drug-traffiking while bouncing around jobs. Eventually, he landed himself in debt, and even after his own parents were murdered because he couldn't pay what he owed, Seunghyun kept borrowing from the wrong people. Of course, Isabella was disappointed in her ex-lover, but had no interest in helping him pay. She tried to usher the visotors out, but in a sudden fit of rage, Seunghyun attacks her, and repeatedly kept smashing her head in with any item of hand. Alerted by the noise, Santino - who had been packing, entered the living room to find his mother dead. Seunghyun's companions quickly subdued the distraught teen, and Seunghyun finally got rid of his debt by selling his son to the highest bidder.
Out of the frying pan, and into the inferno
Ares - looking to establish JOKER.XX, took Santino off his hands, and was immediately displeased by the boy's emotional imbalance. After the success of training Knives and Fang, Santino was disappointing. For months, the young boy was beaten bloodied and swollen, because he could never find it in himself to raise his voice above a calm whisper or to strike back at anyone who hit him. Upon being questioned, Santino replied, 'It's essential to do unto others as you would want them to do unto you. WIth all due respect hyung, I doubt you'd enjoy the physical abuse being thrown my way." This was insightful in the older man's mind. Stringent discpline worked with Fang, and Genetic Altercations worked with Knives. Neither wouldn't be as effective on him [then again, he very well could have injected whatever he felt like into Santino's system, but Knives was so damn effective, and Ares wanted variety in his creations]. Ares subdued his severity for the sake of Santino's progress; each day he took Santino out to expose him to the ugliness of the world. He showed Santino that people - despite whatever religion or humanitarians may say - are cruel and destructive, and there are only less destructive people and more destructive people.
"But, despite all of what I just said, there is hope. I need your help, I need Jaeseong's help and I need Feng's help to at least make the world more tolerable for the generatons to come. Just think of what they'll say about the four us in the books: the saviours of mankind. We'd be exaulted for reversing mankind's downward spiral we'd be heroes." Ares had said one night on the rooftop overlooking Seoul's entirety.
Santino seemed smaller than he had ever been at that moment as he stared at the gimmering lights of the modern city. To save future generations from oour damnation...

FIRST MEETING Upon accompanying Ares to Valhalla, a surprisingly posh restaurant, for a meeting, Angel gimpses Aera and her father making their way into another private room. Her refinement is impeccable and her beauty is bewitching and Angel is expectedly enamoured.
INTERACTIONS Fairly limited. Angel usually remains at HQ, and Aera is out and about with her dad. But never fear, Angel has enough sketches from memory to daydream about.
THEIR STORY Weeks after first seeing her, he participates in a mission to claim some new territories (separate from the one where Fang meets his little lady friend). Aera - without the presence of Yonggi - shows up with an armed squad, intent to claiming the territory as their own. From his position as the last line of defence, Angel is dismayed to see Aera gracefully pouncing of his fellow jokers with a glimmering katana. She is deadly, and the mix of bloodlust and grim determination in her eyes repulses him. With disappoinment coursing through his heart, he orders his men to retreat. Angel welcomes Ares' fury with open arms and a gentle smile, because it's nice to come home to something familiar, no?
RELATIONSHIP She doesn't even know his name, and he just had a petty crush on her. At the end of the day, Aera is just a distraction, and a rather graceful one at that. The basis of Angel's adoration was her apparent purity, which he craved for, since he himself was stained beyond repair.
ENDING Angel eventually stops pining over her and dedicates his time to maintaining HQ and preserving the health of the jokers like he should have been doing. He's more helpful with trying to find the reason behind Ares' internal torment, which comes as a huge relief to the others.
