born in los angeles, california, kelly was a healthy baby girl. her parents were immigrants from korea, and they were starting a better life with their bundle of joy, kelly. ever since kelly was little, she loved dancing to kpop songs (fink.l, s.e.s, h.o.t. where her dad introduced her to them). her passion for dancing and kpop grew more and more each day. during her elementary school days, she would always be the lead dancer for her school musicals. she loved her life. until kelly's father, henry's work started to grow larger and larger, their family had to move to san francisco for his job. kelly was devastated, at the important age of 12, she had to say bye to her best friend since birth, jessica jung, and start her student life at a new school.

 

making new friends wasn't a problem for kelly, since she had an out-going personality. she would be the one making jokes about herself (self-diss), and she would basically be the class clown. however, she was always the main character of a gossip (since middle schoolers are all devils). people  would misundestand her and call her "fake" for her energetic personality. they would think she's acting friendly to everyone to become popular. one day kelly heard bunch of girls gossiping about her, that's when her current best friend tiffany hwang, stepped in and defended kelly. hearing the gossips in person hurt kelly a lot when she was in middle school, but thanks to tiffany, she was able to get through the pain. 

 

her passion for dancing and kpop finally led to her dream of becoming an idol. she  would audition for korean entertainment companies, but would always fail. that's when her mother would come in and scold her for having a dream too hard to reach, since kelly didn't have the prettiest face or the hottest body (like most kpop girl groups). however, that didn't stop her from trying.
