Putting my two-cents into the buying upvotes and subscribers fiasco

Okay so I never even knew there were shops like these until yesterday when I stumbled upon some blogs some people shared. Honestly some people might find it a big deal but for me I'm sort of indifferent about it. I can understand why some people resorted to these tactics.

Do you know how many stories are on this site? A lot. People feel discouraged when they don't have a lot of readers or don't get featured. So I think that's why they did this. A small part of me wished they could have had patience because eventually their time would have come and when it did, they would have known it was because of their hard work. That's what I did. I waited until my time came and it did.

As an author who has been on this site for almost 3 years now, there have been many ups and downs. But as a community we overcame it. That's what we need to do here. I don't like bashing people because it's very mean. Yes you can vent out your anger but don't go to the stories or authors personally and lash at them. They're people too. And for those authors who were naïve of their actions I hope you take this lesson to heart. However don't let this incident discourage you or make you feel like you have to leave. There's nothing you can do. What's done is done.

I also hope that those of you who strongly oppose what they did will accept their apologies (if they give one) and not try to get them kicked off of the site or have their stories banned. Instead we should work against those shops who took advantage of those in dire need.

Well .. honestly, some time ago, I've stumbled upon a featured story ( I'm not going to say the name but I think you already know it ) and there were soooo many grammatical mistakes and typos everywhere .. REALLY B**CH?! Anw, it's about being the nanny of Luhan's son. The plot is nice, like it's a great idea, butthe writing was so awful I couldn't keep reading it. And now(thanks to your post) I know why it was featured. Anw, just ranting bcuz YOLO and Im bored as hell x'))

At first, I was pretty indifferent about upvote shops too until I heard these stories started getting featured because of it and then I noticed the packages were growing up to 30-50 upvotes at a time. I don't care whether these authors did it intentionally or not because I won't judge them for wanting to grow their audience. My main concern is the upvote shops that will continue supporting these tactics and the insecure authors who think they're only fighting chance is to keep buying upvotes. It is not. Like I said before, we all start from somewhere and it takes time.

Wow I didnt know too that there are such shope in aff until I read this.

Some people are just too eager I guess. I have not much upvotes and subscribers too but I solely put the blame on me since I am not a good author to begin with and I dont really mind. Hehe

I guess people get discouraged when people dont read ur stories and especially dont comment, i mean, thats how it is for me. When people dont comment i get really edgy.. Like is this chap not good? (I swear the chapter statistic page is evil. My morale dies every time the numbers arent as high as the prev chaps) i think thats why they resort to doing stuff like that to get their stories featured and get put out there.
But then i remind myself again and again that i started writing because i always have ideas and its quite a healthy habit and hobby, rather than doing nothing, so i forget about the views and comments and just write for my own sake haha
The biggest flaw in the system (in the fanfic world tbh) is that no matter how good ur story is, or how good the plot, character, etc etc, if the characters you use isnt those from popular groups, its gonna take forever for people to notice ur story.. Its sad but its kinda true haha..

This...

People don't realize how rude they are. There was a featured story some days ago, and people began bashing the author. They said all sorts of thing, then acted like they didn't mean it in a bad way. How do you say that "your story and you do too" in a good connotation? You can't.

But someone understands :') thank you
I need this to restore humanity to this site luls

well i've been writing for a while now and i am one those who are unnoticed but that's the way it is , writing is not everyone's forte and most of us doing it for fun so why ruin it with such underhanded tricks(i'm not bashing those who resorts such things, it's just seems pointless to me thats all) , anyways i didn't know that sort of thing even existed thanks for letting us know ;)

ps:i wish for your speed recovery ^^

Thumbs up!!
But for me, as long as someone read it, I feel happy.. At least they didn't report my story or something.. But different author, have they own way of thinking.. Sorry if I'm harsh with my comment.. and I think I'm blabbering here.

wow . i'm surprised people do this. I always thought you should write for yourself, and for no one else. I mean that's why I honestly don't care . I don't have a lot of upvotes nor subscribers, but I think what people are forgetting is that you should write for yourself, and for no one else. If you're writing to popular, you really shouldn't be writing at all tbh.
