( elaboration ) : Daehui is totally not the brightest crayon in the box, she ever did like anything that has to do with facts, number memorizing - she just dislikes studying. This is why you always see her wear either a clueless face or her 'what-the-hell-are-you-guys-talking-about' look if there some kind of discussion or something going on. She is not stupid or dumb but just a slow learner. Most of the time she finds it hard to catch up and she needs to takes longer time than others to process something. This is why she did better in her art subjects than the scientific, non cultural subjects like maths. This is supposedly to be funny or cute how she can be as blank as a paper sometimes, but it is not for Daehui. It is what she is most insecure about.

Daehui is more or less secure of her looks and even her tall, shapeless body, just because looking good for others is not really her top priority. She does more concerned about how she is not smart enough. Although she would rather do anything else in this world before studying, she wished she is little bit smarter. She wished she didn't have to respond with a 'huh' when someone is using a difficult word, she wished that could be a part to a non-art discussion, she wished she is the one with her hand shot up when a teacher ask the class a question. She didn't hide this part of her insecurity by acting confident, by being the school's rules breaker, by flirting here and then. nope - she hides it with her obedience, with her good manners. Her grades are not the best but they could not for it because she never had been anything but good. Occasionally, she talks slowly so her brain has the time to get the right word to say to the right people - some people assume that she is just talking politely. Daehui, on the other side, is not planning to ever correct them

As long as people didn't mock her intelligence, it takes so much to get under her skin. She is not easily angered, not easily annoyed and in fact, she doesn't care much about what people said about her. In other words, she is a very collected person. She doesn't show much emotions and very good at controlling them, she is very good at biting her tongue. Just because you feel it, doesn't mean you have to show it. People can keep on saying that she is just acting to be the example student in terms of attitude because she wanted to be teacher's favourite, people can go on saying that she is actually the rich spoiled kid that has her parents wrapped around her fingers - she doesn't mind. So in return, she never had been the one judging people - it is not her place to do so. She may or may not tell the teachers about what you did wrong but she never formed a biased opinion on others. Since it is hard to do so, once you do get on her nerve, she can't help it but to sees only the bad in you.

Under the mask of the polite and good girl that she created for herself, lies a girl that is so egoistic, you want to tear her into two. Her ego is so high that she hates it when someone tries to help her. Her mind has already established the fact that she is the stupid girl and it made it seems like requiring helps from others is almost forbidden. It was as if her mind telling her 'you're dumb, not weak. you don't need help'. She may not be smart but she knows she at least can mend herself. This girl is also very stubborn so once she said no, it will be no all the way. Her legs are hurting? she'd limp 'till she get to her destination. Her hands cannot carry so many books from the classroom to the teacher's staff room all at once? She'd go back and forth to carry it all no matter the distance. So nope, she needs no help from you guys, she got this.

Despite the good girl personality is only to hide something she is not confident about, Daehui is still a decent girl at heart. Following every rules, helping the teachers, handing assignments and homework on time, all those things are easier for her to do because she enjoys doing them. She offers helps here and there. (refusing to be hypocrite, she only helps others when they wanted to be helped). She likes the responsibilities and sometimes she made unnecessary things her responsibility. For example, she comes to school early and cleans the classroom before most others come, she volunteers sometimes to help out staking books at the library and she, for some odd reason, willingly to stay behind at her every last class for the day to sweep the floor a bit or wipes the tables, something like that. Moreover, when it comes to rules, she committed to following them like it's her religion and let's just say the last time she broke a rule, it ended very very very much badly. Just like how she is with rules, she never breaks promises. Her 5 rules in life are something like these :: 'follow every rule, keep all your promises, don't be friend someone who broke the rules, helps others and again, follow every rule'

 

( background ) : Daehui was born as a second child the well-off family of the Yuns. She has a insurance firm owner, Yun Daeju (49) as father and Kim Hani (43), a wedding dress designer as a mother. Being the daughter that their parents has always wanted since they were married, she was spoiled to death - giving everything that she possible wanted or needed. Daehui had been the slow learner that she is since elementary class and their parents provide her personal teachers and tuition here and there to help her keep up - which is the reason she didn't retained in any level until high school. There is nothing that they wouldn't do for her. This girl had threw away her social life to be able to be on the same level with her classmates, to not to be at the bottom - no matter what pace she is in, she would always be steps behind so she just has to make sure she is not the last in the race.

In her elementary school, most of her classmates didn't want to play with her because in their immature minds, stupidness is contagious. They'd laugh when Daehui didn't understand their jokes, laughed even more when Daehui is obviously pretending to understand. There would be snickers here and there if Daehui answered the teacher's question wrongly. She stayed at class at lunch times and offered teachers to carry their things, clean the classroom or use that time to do her homeworks - this is why she was appointed as the class monitor every year in her elementary school. When she is in charge, those kids would not bully her. When she is the teacher's pet, her friends are kinda scared of her. They can hate her but she can always go to the teachers if they decide to hurt her. She had always been a the one who did the reporting to teachers for their wrong doings - it was nothing special that she was mostly hated by her classmates but Daehui would just flipped her hair like she did not care.

Aesul has a brother, Yun Jaehwan (28). It was last summer when Daehui demanded that Jaehwan to teach her how to drive early - she was 17 and planning to take the test next year. She wasn't thinking about the consequences - she just wanted to be able to drive at 18. In her mind, she needed to learn now because being the slow learner that she is, she has to learn now. Jaehwan loves her sister as much as their parents do, only these three knew how much she struggle to be academically good. He agreed. That was when an accident happened, her car that she was driving 90km/hr collide with the bicycle that someone is riding while Daehui was taking a turn. It happened in Daehui neighbourhood, not really far from Daehui's house. Jaehwan was the one who calls the ambulance while Daehui cries in panic while holding on the hand of the victim, who is crying out in pain, as if it would make the pain go away. The ambulance came with the police department. After the ambulance took the victim away, it turned into a police case as the and daehui was ready to turn herself in but Jaehwan beat her to it. There were no witness to contradicted the confession, he was the guilty one and took the blame.

Jaehwan went to the temporary prison for 7 nights for Daehui, while their parents as well as the victim's, the law officers and a couple of lawyers negotiate. After 5 days, it is decided that the punishment would be either pay a huge amount of fine or imprisonment for Jaehwan not more than 5 years. Daehui's parents will pay a fine of 15 million won with the addition of the victim's hospital bills. Jaehwan was in prison, their parents busy handling the matters while Daehui was depressed of the whole thing, she ate so little, slept so short. What she did do enough is to come visit Sehun, the victim, who will be not be able to walk forever at the hospital. She cried and cried and plead for forgiveness and cried again on her every visit. Sehun may forgave her long ago but she won't. She visited everyday until he was being discharged - she did it out of guilt and he knew that but that didn't change the fact that they know things about each other like best friends would.

( who are you? ) : My name is Yun Daehui but mostly known as the good one. (stands up straight before bowing 90°)

 

( do you like being labelled as this? ) : Yes, I do.

 

( which subject, or subjects, have you chosen for your documentary? ) : Life and differences. There's this someone I will always be sorry for because I took something so important from him but he kept saying that it's okay. He said this life is so precious not to forgive people and I love how he could see this life in a positive light. So it inspires me to make a documentary on how different people sees life in different way. I'm going to dedicated this to him.

 

( why did you choose to take media studies? ) : to be honest, I took it because I don't want any hard subject and it will look good along side my art studies but now I really enjoy it, even though it sometimes challenging.

( do you like your classmates? ) : They're okay, I guess. I don't hate them, neither do I like them so much. I don't think they like me very much but that's okay. I don't need them to like me.

 

 

 

( which one do you like most? ) : again, the nice one, of course. it's not hard for people to like him, he is kind to me at least.
oh! the quiet one also, I am always curious about what's on their mind - maybe I can get them to be a part of my documentary. the quiet one always has the loudest mind.

( which one do you least like? ) : (talking as if it was meant for the smart one instead of answering the interview) I know you're smart and all, smart one - you may or may do that intentionally but sometimes some people hate it when they feel stupid. so if you do that intentionally, then you're not so smart afterall. (takes a deep breath before answering the interviewer like she was suppose to) I don't really like the smart one because they are too smart for me - it is not a valid reason but yeah.
 

 

 

"I'm not uptight, just a little bit mature than you rules breakers "

 

( stereotype ) : She is the good one who never breaks the rules, the one that listens to teacher's instructions well, that never late to school or in handing school work, almost 100% attendance, always the first to offer helps to teachers or other school staff - that's Daehui for most people. It may not necessarily represent a positive title (some uses it sarcastically or a sneer) but it gives a good first impression - that is good enough for Daehui.

( secrets ) : The accident and more specifically, the fact she was the one driving. Her parents had made sure that words are spreading very minimally so not many people know about the accident, let alone who caused it. Dongjun is her secret as well but more to her family, other than Aesul, no one knew the two still hang out together. Daehui wouldn't sure if her family would react positively or otherwise if they find out.

 

( media class ) : There's the smart one and there are few of the students that are just so competitive, wanting to get the highest mark and then there's Daehui. It is not like she doesn't want to go hardcore and be the best, God knows she wanted to be, and media class will be the easiest of all of her classes to do so because of the number of students. But she already likes how she is doing in media class, she never got her marks below 70 and comparing to other subjects other than art, that is considered high for her. For other classes, she works hard to keep up but she can somehow relax like she could in art. She doesn't ask much questions, neither that she contribute much as she is scared what she'd say or ask will sound stupid to others. She always has these creative ideas as a concept but instead of voicing it out, she wrotes all those ideas instead.

 

She and Aesul joined the year book club and though there are assigned photographer for it, sometimes Daehui was the one who took the pictures at events for the school year book - it holds its meeting every Monday, 4- 5pm. For her grades, all are about average around 60-70 but never consistent. Sometimes she fails miserably but the next exam she does well. This applies to all of her subjects others than art and media, she never failed in both. She gets atleast a B+ for the former because that is the subject she enjoys and excel in the most.

( personality ) : Sehun is raised to be optimistic about everything by his parents as well as to be forgiving - he is literally an angel, at least to Daehui. He doesn't dwell on the bad things that happened to him for too long, of course he had shed tears before, he felt like what happened to him is unfair but he has to move on and no matter you wanted it or not, life goes on. That's how he sees life since he was a kid - today is not a good day but tomorrow will, he doesn't get to buy his favourite ice cream today, maybe in the next few days be could.

He is always so protective of what is his or what he cares about - he doesn't take what he has for granted and takes care of his possession well. Like his parents, he had already been saving money so he can give them a better life in the futire. For his friends, he would be the first to say sorry if there's a fight because he doesn't want to lose them because of a petty arguments. This guy doesn't need much to make him happy, he is grateful of what he has and never greedy.

However, because of these personality of his, he trusts people easily and very naive. He dates lots of girl because of he can't say no, he lends his friends money because of the same reason - in conclusion he is too kind you want to kick the sense out of him.

 

( meeting ) : They met when Daehui suddenly showed up in his hospital room the day after the accident. Daehui stayed outside his room since 9am and only came in at 12pm when the nurse who brought Sehun's food forced her to. Daehui stood besides his bed while pretending to be fascinated by the way the nurse served Sehun's food.

"how are you?" Daehui suddenly said. She wasn't even sure if Sehun would reconized her.

"My spine cord was damaged but thankfully it was only the nerve to both of legs that is affected."

Daehui already knew beforehand about his conditions. The was he said it so casually brought tears to her eyes, and playing back his words, recalling how he said thankfully, made her cry harder and not long after, she was sobbing loudly, saying that she is sorry every moment she managed to get words out. Daehui even confessed that it was not her brother, it was her in the driving seat.

Sehun took her hand, patting it, as if she was the one who need comforting, as if she was the one who would never walk again. Daehui ended up insisting that she spoon feed the boy after she finished crying - she wouldn't take a no for an answer.

 

( interactions ) : Sehun and Daehui continued to see each other even after he was discharged - Daehui made him promise. They met every weekend at the park near his apartment so he wouldn't have to wheel his way too far - at the park, then Daehui would be the one who would take charge of the wheel chair and they will talk about everything or nothing at all.
Daehui would still cry at nights sometimes if she remembers the fact that Sehun would never the football player that she wanted to be and some days she kinda lost it in front of him if there are some kids running around the park with a ball in one of the boy's hand. Sehun may had already forgive her but she won't. 

Daehui and Sehun shared every possible fact about themselves. Their dreams, their insecurities, their family life. Daehui knew Sehun likes kimbab so she learned to do make them and Sehun knows Daehui likes blue so he bought her a blue maxi skirt for her birthday. daehui would take sehun sometimes to the café she went to with Aesul.

Just like daehui kept their meetings a secret from her parents, sehun did the same thing at first. He simply said 'friend' and 'park' if his parents ask him about where's he is going but for the past few weeks - sehun, being the good son, confessed the truth. Their reactions were exactly the same as the onen when they saw her kept coming to the hospital - displeased. His parents didn't know it was Daehui who was the one that was driving so instead of hating her, they just don't like to see a reminder why their son couldn't walk.
"I'm giving her a chance. you said it yourself, mom, dad. everyone deserves a second chance," he explained again, the first time being when their parents asked him to not accept he visit again, "You don't know her well - I do. She deserves it more than anything. she won't forgive herself, I can tell, so I'm going to do that for her"
His parents may still be displeased that her son hanging out with any of the Yun familly but if they do, they didn't say anything. Afterall it would be hypocrite to hold grudges when they were the one who wants their son to always be forgiving.
