Sho's Diary - Chapter 11 - The New Graduate and Working Girl

It's been a while since I've written in my blog and I had been extremely busy with my studies in university since I started back in 2012 and now finally finished my acedmic years in university last May. It had been such a rollercoaster experience and I've seen the ups and downs of being in university whilst studing Computer Science which had challenged me personally and mentally. Although my 1st year was quite okay since I managed to pass my units within the course and though the 2nd and 3rd year will be a piece of cake......man was I wrong.... =I

During my 2nd year, I had to create an Elevator program which will allow to open and close the doors shut while going up and down the floors and it really frustrated me because I didn't know about programming with C# and had to use Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 which was new to me. After bulding my elevator but needed the animation, a demontrator managed to fix the coding and got the elevator program running. Once I gave the demo to one of the tutors, I was happy that I managed to get a stressful task out if the way until another problem stressed me....I lost my iPbone 4 somewhere within the campus and looked everywhere but never found it to this day ='(

Although I managed to use my dad's iPhone 4s phone in the meantime while he had a new one, there were a couple of assignments that were slightly stressful and then my mum made a decision to go to Umrah during Easter holiday (means "to visit a populated place") for pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia with my maternal uncle and aunt and few of my cousins which left me as the "woman of the house" and it was really different for me. But then during the 2nd week of Easter holiday, I went through a traumatic experience where I was looking after my elderly paternal grandmother and had to take her back next door during the night when all of a sudden, she collapsed and fell on the pavement and when I tried to pick her head up, I saw blood on my hands and started screaming and crying for help. A man helped me take my grandmother next door, called an ambulance but the blood didn't stop and I was still in shock of witnessing and called my dad, brothers and paternal uncle to come over and luckily my uncle went with her to ther hospital and I went back home and couldn't stop crying after witnessing this accicdent.

The next day, I was going through some kind of PTSD where I kept on thinking about the blood in my hands and almost became agoraphobic. in the later evening, me and my sister went over to a neighbor's house for dinner and she noticed how quiet I was since she wasn't aware of the accident and finally broke down in tears and told her because I kept on thinking it's  my fault but everyone said that I'm not but kept on thinking what my mum would say since she was out of the country. She phoned the next day and noticed I was quiet and my sister told her about everything and my mum finally said that it's not my fault and she knew I wouldn't be able to hold on to a elderly person alone. After that, she came back and I hugged her for so long because I knew how challenging it is to handle the household, making breakfast and other meals and doing the chores. Despite going through a trauma, I had much support from my family from the accident and it somehwhat helped me recover and I slowly started stepping out of the house since I had to go back to university after Easter.

I've managed to pass all my units for the 2nd year as well as going through a exam re-take on AI which is a complicated subject and hoopefully never to deal with it again. Then 2 months later, I started my 3rd and final year where I had to take part in a professional group project to make a product , write a dissertation and do a final year project to make an artefact. Even though it was time consuming, I've managed to complete the assignments and exams with a decent pass and I finally passed my overall course with a 2:2 (A Second Class Degree) as well as getting a new job as a IT Service Desk Analyst which I start tomorrow. The only thing I'm excited is my graduation which will be during July and after that, I finally become a University Graduate!!! =D
