Nayeon auditioned to Big Hit when she was 15 in 2012 and performaned a song she knew by heart, Big Bang's 'My Heaven'. She won the heart of the judges, but she still needed help with hitting her notes on time, and dance and rap skills. When she was accepted to train she was ecstatic. She was happy knowing she was a away from her dream.

As the first month went by, Nayeon began feeling homesick since she was far away from her parents and was only allowed one phone call a day. She would train hard, but not hard enough.

She eventually was pushed by instructors to work harder or at the end this will just be a ton of time wasted. Eventually, Nayeon got over her homesickness and decided to work even harder so she wouldn't let her parents down knowing they believed in her.

Along the way, met multiple trainees, some nice some rude. Their were some who gave advice, and some who criticized Nayeon. Some even bullied her for being only half Korean. Nayeon tried not letting others get in her way and she tried her best to stay focused on the main goal: becoming a better artist, and eventually debuting.

In 2012, Big Hit debuted their boy band Bangtan Boys, and as treat for the hard-working trainees, they had the boys of BTS visit the trainees. The boys would give words of encouragement to the trainees, letting them know that hard work pays off. Out of all the members, the maknae, Jungkook caught her eyes knowing he was only a month or so older and he was her junior. Nayeon became even more determined to be able to be on the same stage as her juniors one day.

After nine months of training, Nayeon's instructors noticed her style of singing, and dancing didn't fit Big Hit's next girl group. Her vocals were too strong and powerful, and she had a hip hop and R&B vibe, more than aegyo and innocent look. It was then decided that Nayeon was to be transferred to either JYP, Starship, TS, or YG. After auditioning once again in front of CEO'S for multiple companies, it was then decided for Nayeon to switch to YG creating another chapter in her life. Nayeon was already slightly experienced so it wasn't a new procedure for her. For a total of two years Nayeon trained hard so she could hit every note, dance perfectly in sync, and rap without stuttering and stumbling over her words.

Word spread YG would create a new girl group, and Nayeon was excited knowing she might debut soon. But compared to many other trainees, Nayeon's trainee years was low, but her talent said other wise.

three years of watching dance tutorials, vocal training, and vigorous shower singing. She had a CF in a children's nutrional drink, a CF for multiple clothing and online clothing stores, and a photoshoot for clothing magazines. She also was a backup dancer for Lee Hi's '1, 2, 3' music video.

Nayeon lives with her small family in rural South Korea. Nayeons father, Enlai, left China due to its high population, pollution, and quick-paced living. He wished for a healthier, more peaceful living for him and his future family.

Enlai met Nayeon's mother, Kyungmi, in her family owned tea shop. After one year, the two married and soon had a family. Nayeon's father became an ecologist, and Nayeon grew up helping her mother run their famous tea shop.

Nayeon grew up being the most quirky child anyone could imagine. She liked everything odd, and different. She loved the out doors, picking tea leafs during Spring, fishing with her father during Summer and drawing monsters she thought existed.

Nayeon only visited the city every once in and while with her father when he had meetings, conferences, or events for ecosystem awareness. During one visit when Nayeon was walking past a store, she heard a song playing. She stopped and listened till it was over, and quickly asked the store keeper the name of the song. The answer she heard was '2NE1 - Ugly'. Not only was Nayeon intriguied by the beat and sound but the song's lyrics. After hearing 2NE1's other songs, Nayeon became addicted. She began following other groups, like Girls Generation, Big Bang, Super Junior, Wonder Girls, and more. Nayeon would practice singing the songs over and over again, and she soon began practicing the choreography. Despite her age, she was a quick learner and could easily sing her favorite songs and dance in unison to her favorite Kpop choreographs. Her parents soon realized how passionate their daughter had become about singing and dancing. They were impressed by her stable vocals, and powerful soothing voice. They would have her sing for customers at the tea shop, and everyone would be amazed at how Nayeon would lose herself on stage and how talented she was. It soon became clear Nayeon wanted to follow a singing career path, and lose herself on a huge stage in front of thousands while dancing to song she can own as hers one day.

Nayeon's best friend, Hyun, would often listen to Nayeon sing and dance giving her friendly advice and inputing whether she improved or still needed to work on a certain area. Besides Nayeon's parents, Hyun was Nayeon's biggest fan.

Nayeon's parents weren't sure with the choice of their daughter's career choice. They knew with fame came the opposite of what they had; peace and quiet living. After seeing how passionate Nayeon had become, they didn't want to become the obstacle between their daughter and her dreams.

Jungkook's relationship with Nayeon can be described as awkward, confused. Jungkook was well-known amongst trainees in Big Hit compared to other members, and he knew a majority of them. He was aware of Nayeon's existance but he thought she was completely weird. Everytime he saw, or looked over at her, he would catch her staring at him. He eventually became a little scared of Nayeon and was sure she was going to be his first saesang fan.

In Nayeon's defense, she personally felt a connection with Jungkook because of their similiar age, and dream. She was amazed at how young he was able to debut and become a big artist alongside his BTS members.
