hi guys!

if you've read the title you'll probably already know what this is gonna be about but if not i'll just explain anyways. so, i've decided to join shiningstarx's bts giveaway and if i won (i really doubt it) i could litereally die happy.

the reason i decided to join in the first place is that it's hard to get merch here. the only kpop shop that i know in my country is like two hours away from where i live. it's also really small so there isn't a lot of merch that you can buy. on top of that, that shop is really overpriced. also kpop groups hardly ever come to london, so i might as well not hope for bts to ever come here unless there's some sort of miracle. so unless i buy online, which i don't really want to do because i'm still a minor so i don't have a credit card and i don't want to waste my parents' money (and i feel guilty for wasting their hard earned money), i don't really have anymore options. 

when did i start liking bts? i think it was when they were just about to debut when i saw their first no more dream trailer. back then i was just starting to listen to hip hop and rap so when i first watched it everything from the beat to rapmonster's english gave me the vibes that old school american hip hop gave me. it felt different to all thoses kpop groups that were debuting around that time with a hip hop concept. bts felt the most authentic whereas the other groups just felt like kpop with a hip hop twist. i got curious so i started looking more into their stuff and i found 학교의눈물. at first i didn't know what the lyrics meant but then after looking more into it i was really suprised and impressed with their lyrics and the rapping. most typical idol rappers are kind of (no offence) bad so i was really impressed with rapmonster and suga's rapping abilities and jin's vocal abilities. also their lyrics, especially suga's verse, they hit me hard. i was really taken aback. most kpop groups that i listened to back then, they always sang about love or heartbreak but then i saw the lyrics for 학교의눈물 and how they were about actual issues that young people faced. it was refreshing because it was realatable, everyone could understand or have had some sort of experience simmilar to it. this song was also how i discovered the awesome kendrick lamar, and then many other rappers after that. after l just kind of checked out their other songs including graduation song and 닥투 and waited for them to debut. 

their personalities too. with bts, i feel like they are the realest idols out there. when i first heard them curse in their songs, i found it really suprising because most idols choose not to swear because they want to keep that pure, innocent idol image. but i grew to like it, the swearing i mean. i took it as them sincerely expressing themselves. also, they spoil ARMYs sooo much. their bangtan bombs, their tweets and even birthday events. it's obvious that they care about their fans. 

now on to my chosen member and why i like him so much. i'm actually choosing to talk about rapmonster. although rapmonster is not my bias (my bias is jimin and suga), i admire him alot. he's faced alot of criticisms and hate for deciding to be an idol. like when b-free dissed bts for not being hip hop because they wear make up and when he dissed rapmonster and suga for becoming idols instead of staying underground. when he released too much, i felt really bad for him. reading the lyrics, i could see that he was affected in some way by this. he just sounded so sad, i wanted to give him a hug. 

Another reason that i really admire rapmonster is that he was damn smart. top 1% of the country with an iq of 148? he taught himself english because he liked hip hop and rap so much. with those grades, he could've became anything he wanted to. but he chose to do music instead even though his parents told him to study. he chose what he really wanted to do instead of doing what his parents wanted him to do.

i'm truly proud of him. he's come so far. collaborating with rap stars like warren g. he's slowly gaining respect from the korean underground aswell starting from mftby. he's being recognised as a rap artist not a fake rapper like that the haters told him he was.
