❝ ULZZANG » lee chaeeun ❝ BACKUP » eom saeah ❝ APPEARANCE » lane stands at 160cm and weighs 44kg. as a dancer and an avid exerciser, she is very proud to say that she has a rounded, easy to spot and a set of strong abdominal muscles. since she grew up along the coast of california lane has slightly darker creamy skin, but fair enough for korean standards. her round face is often described as sweet looking and her full, plump lips easily form into a pout, though she can be seen with a smile. perhaps the most noticeable feature of hers is her almond shaped eyes, single lidded, surrounded by dark lashes, and totally capable to burning a hole through your heard. she has dark brown hair that falls to the middle of the back and always seems to be in loose curls or natural waves. during dance practices and at the dorms however, she twists it into a bun, ponytail, or braids. lane has a very polished, somewhat vintage style with a hint of girliness in it. her clothes mainly consist of flowy skirts, floral dresses, lacy blouses, and tights, with her shoes being oxfords, high wedge boots, and flats. lane isn't one to wear bright, flashy colors and prefers the more darker, solid colors. it's not like she's trying to be the most fashionable, although she does like being dressed to impress.

known throughout snu for her fresh face and her popular fraternity brother, lane radiates the aura and elegance of a ballet dancer. this appearance hides her true personality, the girl who always has her head in the clouds and a mouth that works faster than her curious mind. she is a romantic child who shamelessly believes in love at first sight and other ridiculous fantasy ideas. a noticeable thing about lane is that she always has questions for any situation, as everything is fascinating to her and her active imagination. she will not stop until she has answers to all of the mysteries in life. sometimes her constant talking can drive people insane, but she proves to be an efficient public speaker. she is comfortable standing in front of a large crowd and speaking without a trace of awkwardness. she is also the kind of person who expresses what's on her mind without hesitation, and is very open in terms of her thoughts and emotions. as a result, lane is incredibly extroverted and treats everyone as if she's known them forever – while she isn't book smart and not the sharpest tool in the shed, she is people smart. even the most subtle hints and emotions has her asking that person if he/she is okay. lane most definitely would be the one who does the talking and barely the listening. however, her barrage of wild questioning can spark irritation among others, as she usually tends to interrupt when they're in the middle of talking.
lane lives with freedom and ease, and because of this she hates sticking to rules and the conformity of things. some may say she's fun loving, others might say she's too carefree and should watch herself. lane has a very humanistic way of viewing the world and strongly believes everyone has a right to decide their own future. she doesn't like taking orders from people unless they're friends with her or have the authority, like teachers and some upperclassmen (depends on who though). once, when a lovesick fan of mark's kept bothering him while he was eating with lane, lane firmly told her to get lost. she is additionally shown to be very optimistic, often adopting a "half full glass" mentality and acting with enthusiasm towards even the bleakest of events - when mark received a terrible score in one of his classes, she tried to make the atmosphere better by humorously commenting that he has found a way to make her buy him food. lane just can't stand injustice and always stands up for what she believes is right. she also does not like hearing deragotaory remarks and will put them down if she must. while she isn't agressive, lane has expressed her inability to control her anger. It can lead her to hold grudges against those she thinks has wronged her. lane is horribly impatient and has a very low tolerance for waiting because she wants things fast and quick. in fact, she can even express impatience with her studies, but if someone can soothe her down she calms down and reminds herself that patience would bring her success. while lane is confident in her dancing and acting skills, she does become very insecure if someone compares her skills to another individual's. it causes her to doubt her own abilities and needs to be reassured by others, such as checking in with teachers and performing in front of friends for their critiques. lane easily overlooks the flaws of others due to her sweet nature, but she believes her own imperfections are unforgiveable. she is never satisfied with "good enough," and pushes herself to gain "perfection." she's the kind of person who would not sleep a wink when it comes to perfecting their art. ❝ BACKGROUND »
lane was born in the heart of los angeles, and arrived in the middle of may to proud upper middle class parents. she already had three older siblings eagerly waiting for her birth, though the one who would be the closest to her was mark, who was almost four years older. the two siblings would always play together and share toys. from the moment lane started talking, it had been apparent that she showed passion for the performing arts - the girl was always quoting children's movies and flailing around in the most dramatic way. her parents almost auditioned her for children's commercials, but later decided against it because it would be not be a practical upbringing. they instead let her join her school plays and musicals.
fast forward to her adolescent years. since koreatown in los angeles wasn't too far from the family's home, the tuan family would often go out to eat at korean restuarants and browse through the stores. lane and mark suddenly took an interest in the language and began taking it in school. when the time came for mark to apply to colleges, he decided that he did not want to attend school in california, but rather, overseas. their parents were wary, but mark managed to convince them to let him study at snu. lane was heartbroken when he left, but once she heard how much fun he was having at snu, she promised herself to work hard and apply there, since she also wanted to study abroad. when lane first told her parents that she wanted to major in drama, they tried to convince her to change her mind because they felt that acting would not be a good choice career. however, they knew that their daughter possessed a talent in acting and decided to let her do as she wanted. so, with several recommendation letters and audition tapes, lane sent out her applications to many schools, though the one that she truly wanted to go to was snu.

   "you think my brother is hot? but why...he's such a white boy!"
( older brother ) mark tuan / 22 / senior at seoul university / lively, reliable, straightforward / you'd think someone as responsible as mark would try to protect his sister and guide her around her new school. but no, he's constantly trying to hook lane up with his single sigma chi brothers or dragging her to fraternity events, rather than shielding her from "the corruptions of college." he even encourages her to try drinking and partying to enjoy the sweet taste of college. every time mark sees his little sister he runs up and ruffles her hair or pinches her cheeks, which irritates the heck out of lane but she can't do anything about it since she's the baby. however, mark sincerely cares for lane and often drops by her dorm to make sure she understands her homework and helps her study for her exams. he also makes an effort to attend every theater production and dance team competition she participates in with a large bouquet of flowers. they just really love each other, but lane's too embarrassed to admit it and shows her love through teasing and bullying mark.

   "myungeun stop singing grease at 1 in the morning!"
( roommate and confidante ) park myungeun / 18 / freshman at seoul university / introverted, graceful, trustworthy / if lane can't rely on jaebum, then she can certainly go to myungeun, a music major, for support. the latter is quick to defend lane and is always willing to help her roommate out in times of need, whether lane needs new cat pictures to squeal at, a new broadway musical to watch, or an occasional shoulder to cry on. while lane may act like she doesn't care about myungeun, she truly loves her best friend and treasures her company. in fact, if anyone dares make myungeun cry, lane won't hesitate to slap them right in the face. the two mostly spend their time doing zumba and yoga - though it's usually lane working out with myungeun siting at the sides cheering her on. myungeun, who likes to compose her own music, values lane's opinions and often brings notes to her for constructive criticism. lane does the same thing with her acting, since she knows myungeun will be honest and give her beneficial feedback.
   "min is the queen of sass when it comes to dance."
( dance big ) lee minyoung 'min' / 20 / junior at seoul university / extroverted, fiesty, simplistic / as the big of lane, min dotes on and treats her like a real little sister. usually, bigs and littles on the dance team are randomly assigned, but min fought tooth and nail for lane because she liked her whimsical and spunky personality. if lane needs any assistance in learning a new dance, min is there to offer her help. they always collaborate on dance projects and hang out at starbucks or min's dorm watching dance videos. even though lane doesn't want her to, min enjoys taking her little out to the hottest eateries and buying her cute things like pretty earrings and stuffed toys. lane really admires min and strives to be like the junior, since she's so likeable by everyone, pulls off any dance style perfectly, and looks super amazing in black.

( rival ) jung soojung krystal' / 19 / freshman at seoul university / easygoing, insensitive, reserved / lane strongly does not like krystal, a fellow theater arts major. on the first day of school, soojung had won the improvisation exercise given by the teacher, barely beating lane. lane isn't salty over that

• sorority squat! she is planning to join a sorority in sophomore year since mark is always bugging her to join one and dragging her to sigma chi parties to introduce her to sorority girls
• sorry i don't drink she would like to enjoy the college party scene, but lane doesn't like the bitter taste of alcohol and prefers to have a sprite while her friends drown themselves in beer
• mrs. jr she has a notebook with jr's name written several times in bold, red ink (lane - "the color of romance and passion!") and hearts scribbed around them. she keeps the notebook in her bag all the time and likes to flip through the pages while listening to the radio show
• goodnight sweet prince she has a recording of jr's smexy smooth voice on her phone and listens to it every night before she goes to bed
• cats are love, cats are life lane is a huge animal lover, but cats are her favorite. her phone wallpaper is a picture of a cat rolling in grass, her notebooks are decorated with cat stickers, and she even has tiny cat earrings. mark jokes around and says lane is going to be a crazy cat lady when she's older
• oppa, can you give me a ride? since lane didn't bring a car with her to college, she always mooches off her sunbaes and friends to take her to the shopping mall, or that cool bubble tea place nearby, or whatever
• let's dance b*tches she is a member of one of the university's dance clubs, dancing seouls. the club meets for practice every tuesday, thursday, and sunday from 9pm to 12am and even competes at nearby competitions
• my eyeliner is on fleek today! lane really can't leave her dorm without her eyes lined in black. she also has purple and turquoise eyeliner that she wears on special occasions
• wiggly gummy worms she loves to eat sour gummy worms. most of the time she's seen with a bag of sour gummy worms in one hand and she even drags jaebum to the convenience stores at night to buy more
• you can't stop the beat lane loves to blast songs from various musicals in her dorm room and dance around, resulting in several dormmates storming in to complain but like she cares
• to be or not to be lane is a er for shakespeare and will melt at your feet if you can manage to memorize a shakespeare quote and recite it perfectly
• my bucket list she made a list of 50 things she would do in her life, the first is to perform on broadway, the second to love someone as much as she loves theater and third is to have a strong group of friends with her until the day she died

• justin bieber ; since jaebum's initials are jb and he loves to sing, lane takes the pleasure in calling him after the canadian popstar. he doesn't take it too well however
"jr can go fall in a hole for all i care. lane is MINE...well, she just hasn't realized it yet." ❝ PERSONALITY » at the first glance, jaebum may seem like a scary guy to approach. however, don't be afraid - that's just how he appears to others! once the ice is broken, he shows his true self - a playful guy who enjoys messing around and gently teasing the ones he loves. jaebum is perceptive and proves to be a great person to come to for advice if you have anything troubling you. as an excellent listener, he won't continue pressing for details if you cannot go on. though he does like to strive to find both sides of the story before delivering his judgement. while jaebum has the ability to lighten any situation with his humor, they tend to be really corny jokes but despite that they'll make anyone smile. one thing people like so much about him is that he is incredibly confident, especially in his talents. however, this could also be a thing people don't like about him. there are times where jaebum's confidence will completely go over his head, and you'll hear the occasional bragging or boasting if he accomplishes something. he also cannot handle losing easily; while he may appear to accept losses graciously, he tends to try to find faults on the other side rather than his own self. ❝ RELATIONSHIP » from late night snack raids in the cafeteria to sneaking out on the dorm rooftops to gaze at the stars, these two are inseperable and bring out the best in each other. when it comes to sharing her feelings, lane feels quite comfortable with jaebum and tells him all her insecurities and fears. lane is one of the many people who makes fun of jaebum's stupid jokes, but she appreciates his humor and laughs anyways. if she's in tears from stress, he's right there with a box of tissues, a tub of vanilla ice cream, and a dvd of grease. from the moment the two met, it was clear that jaebum almost immediately fell for her. he just loves her whimsical personality and finds himself flashing back to his playful times - as old manish as this sounds, she makes him feel younger. if you look closer, you can see a light tinge of pink spreading over jaebum's face whenever lane smiles at him and laughs. although they haven't been friends for long, they act like they've been tgoether for years. they're not afraid to display skinship, like lane casually holding jaebum's hand when she leads him to buy snacks, or snuggling against him for warmth when it's cold outside. as lane is his best friend, he's willing to do anything to please her - even camping outside the night show's headquarters to get a glimpse of jr. it really hurts, but at least he gets to spend time with her. jaebum has tried numerous methods to catch her attention, like hinting to her that a guy likes her, but all have failed. he's even quotes shakespeare for her, but she's too busy obsessing over jr. to notice. ❝ HOW'D THEY MEET? » they first met at the snu stay over program. as jaebum was yawning through a boring orientation speech when a girl with a bright yellow umbrella suddenly blocked his view and almost poked him in the eye with the end. this girl happened to be lane, who was shielding herself from the sun with the umbrella. jaebum decided to ignore her and grumbled to himself about how some people could be so inconsiderate. later, when the group was doing some recreational activities, the leader paired jaebum and lane up. jaebum recognized her from earlier and was about to tell her off about her umbrella, but lane started firing questions at jaebum - simple things like "what's your favorite movie?" and "what's your faovirte ice cream flavor?" after exchanging polite conversation, jaebum realized that lane was actually an interesting person and when the progra was over, the two made promises to stay friends in college.

❝ REGARDING THE NIGHT SHOW, WHAT CONNECTS YOU TO IT? » *nervous giggle* i kind of have a crush on jr...he sounds like such a stud from the way his voice sounds! i don't call them for advice unless asking jr. what his favorite underwear brand is counts? i've sent in a few anonymous love letters to him as well but it seems that he hasn't received them so far. i listen to the night show every night with myungeun, but only to hear jr.'s voice *smiles like a goofball*
❝ WHO ARE YOU THE CLOSEST WITH? » i really like soyung - she takes care of the underclassmen pretty well and shows them around if they get lost. i don't care what people say about her, they have no right to because they don't know her full story.
❝ WHO ARE YOU THE LEAST CLOSEST WITH? » i know mark is like, completely in love with her, but i'm not too fond of that little princess, kwon minjung. i mean, i know she's super pretty but she thinks she's the best of something - what does my brother see in her? *rolls her eyes in disgust* also, i just don't like how minjung is always bullying and belittling that girl. stealing someone's boyfriend is terribly wrong, but she should just play it cool and ignore them. she's a confident girl and she has plenty of boys chasing after her, and harrassing that girl isn't going to get her ex-boyfriend back. in all honestly i think her boyfriend is the one she should be nasty to.
