nahyun was born on a chilly winter morning on december 19th, 1997, to a pair of doting parents and a loving older brother. she grew up in a fairly normal household and was a decent student in school and a (mostly) obedient daughter. growing up with an older brother and mostly male cousins got nahyun in trouble, as she was eager to get dirty outside and roughhouse with her relatives as a young child.
she was just an "average" kid compared to namjoon, who was praised for his high iq and excellent academics. although she knew her parents loved her just as much, she couldn't help but feel inferior to namjoon. but she still loved her brother and tried to find an extracurricular activity that would make her stand out to her parents. she played around with activites like piano lessons, cheerleading practice, and even soccer, but nothing really stuck with her. however, music would soon find its way to nahyun.
when nahyun was thirteen years old, she stumbled upon a youtube video of yoon mirae, a female rapper who was considered one of the best in korea. since nahyun knew that the rapper industry was mostly male-dominated, she was amazed to see that a strong woman like yoon mirae was able to rap as well as any man. after watching more videos of yoon mirae, nahyun was inspired to try out rapping. she began listening to more hip hop music and writing lyrics in her notebook during class and she even reached out for help to namjoon, who had recently begun his training at bighit entertainment. while she was envious of her older brother for pursuing his dream, she was determined to do the same. nahyun continued to push herself the next couple of years, practicing tongue twisters and writing poetry to improve her rapping skills.
in the spring of 2012, fifteen year old nahyun secretly sent in a video of her rapping an original song to bighit entertainment. She was interested in bighit because she loved its strong hip hop foundation and as much as she hated to admit it, she wanted to be with namjoon. she was shocked to see that she'd been offered a spot as a female trainee. but bang sihyuk and the other staff at bighit had realized that she was namjoon's younger sister and knew it would be a waste not to accept her. while her parents were initially reluctant to let their other child follow in the footsteps of her older brother, they eventually relented because they realized that performing was what nahyun loved and enjoyed.

however in january 2015, bang sihyuk disregarded all plans of a future girlgroup when glam's scandal occurred. he wanted to only focus on male trainees and chose to transfer all the female trainees in bighit to other companies. bang sihyuk did not want to waste nahyun's talent and decided to send her over to sm entertainment, but nahyun was less thrilled. after all, sm entertainment wasn't that well known for their strong female rapper presence. but she already put so much of her life into training, so in the summer of 2015, nahyun transferred over to sm entertainment.
unfortunately, trainee life was more cutthroat in sm then at bighit. nahyun had to be careful of who to trust, as some of the girls in sm were known for pitting against each other. it was definitely very competitve, but nahyun held her head high and did not let anyone put her down. some of the trainees found out that she was the younger sister of namjoon, and would belittle her, saying she was only accepted into bighit/sm because of him. and as she showed potential as a strong female rapper, a few were threatened and would gang up on her. because of this, nahyun learned how to be tough and stick for herself. there were times where nahyun almost quit because the competition was so high and she was always so damn exhausted, but she it up. after all, her older brother didn't make it by moping around and feeling sorry for himself.
when sm announced plans to debut blue moon, nahyun threw herself harder into her work, pushing herself to the very limit. she wanted to show sm that she was ready to join the idol world.

With a cheeky smile and perfectly sculpted abs, he has a charming effect on adoring girls and melts their hearts in moments. however when he is onstage, jimin oozes out charisma and performs with a fierce passion. his talents - singing, dancing and the occasional aegyo - leaves people in a daze. his aim in life is to succeed and be first in everything because he wants to be recognized for who he is. jimin is the kind of person who adores being in the center of attention. he may seem a bit vain from the way he smirks at his reflection and looks at the camera, but he still manages to carry himself in a confidence manner without looking overly arrogant.

nahyun was in her first week of dance classes at bighit and was struggling to move along to the hardcore choreography. when the class was over, she noticed one of the male trainees had stayed behind to work on it. that boy was jimin, and after plucking up the courage to walk up and introduce herself to him, nahyun asked him to help her go through the choreography, which jimin happily obliged. since then, nahyun always went to jimin for dance help, as she felt comfortable around him. and jimin enjoyed nahyun's company - although he didn't know her for a long time he felt like she was an easy person to talk and trust.
even after jimin debuted in bts, they still continued meeting up as much as jimin could late at night in the studios to rehearse, but those nightly practices soon turned into whispers of love and small, flirty gestures. they never went past flirting, as they knew there was no place for a romantic relationship in a trainee's life. but it felt nice to know that both were mutual about each other's romantic feelings.

namjoon noticed that something was wrong between jimin and nahyun but he didn't pry into their business. instead, he led jimin into thinking that they were going to hang out together, and did the same for nahyun. when both jimin and nahyun arrived at the meeting place thinking they would be seeing namjoon, they saw one another and realized namjoon set them up. nahyun was still a little upset with jimin but she was also happy to see him again. they spent a couple of hours talking about their friendship and what went wrong between them, and jimin apologized to nahyun for kissing her unexpectedly. after nahyun admitted that she liked it, jimin told her the real reason why he wanted to stop pursuing her romantically. while nahyun was furious with namjoon for calling her "off-limits," she could see his point. jimin and nahyun then decide to give their friendship another go.
jimin continued to be a constant pillar of support to nahyun during her days in sm. whenever she texted him saying she wanted to quit training, he was quick to convince her away from that decision. when she announced that she got into sm's new girlgroup blue moon, he was so proud of her and was excited to finally share the stage with her.
