How I got into Kpop
This is not a serious post so I'll make it quick:
My road to kpop was long..ish. More like it had a lot of lead up events.
As a child I read lots of comics. Mostly Archie comics to be exact and as I reached middle school I met some friends that read manga. I had never heard of it before but it had story lines I really like that were a mix of unrealistic and romantic...with fun drawings too! I even found a favorite series (and here's where I really got set on this path.)
Hana Yori Dango
a.k.a Boy's Over Flowers, The manga series wasn't done yet when I started reading but it was advanced so I bought a bunch of them.
Anyways I still read manga to this day so lets just flash forward some years to 2008, because that's when I got into Japanese tv programs..I don't know how, I just did, and my favorite ones to watch awere all with this oone this group called Arashi. If you know J-pop you know Arashi so we'll also skip over talking about them too. Note: I don't like J-pop or the music I just liked Arashis shows.
So I find out one of the members, Matsumoto Jun, was the lead in a live action series of Hana Yori Dango, OMG I obviously must watch it! I find a place to watch it subtitled very quickly, and I do, and I love it.
But wait! What's this? There are all these other series on the site! Some of them sound pretty intresting too. So I watch one and BAM -->RABBIT HOLE.
It's hard to say what happened next, when I like something I become as knowlegebal about it as I can. So it was really a matter of time before my branching off led me to kpop something like this:
I liked the series full house, (with rain) I want to re watch an episode...wait who are these people? A band named super junior had a reality show called full house too? Oh that was funny, they make songs? Oh that was good, their company has other artist? Huh, SHINee...they chose that for a groups name? OMG Lee Taemin is not human!
So yeah this is how pretty much on my own got into kpop. Bye, life!
