ANNOUNCEMENT: UNREAL2PM ROUND 4!

Hottests and all creatures alike,

Unreal2pm proudly presents

Round 4: PROMPT FESTS!

THE LOWDOWN

The results from the 3rd round survey as well as writers’ opinions have laid down the foundation for this new, flexible 4th round. That’s right! We’ve tailored a round suited to your needs, giving you nearly all the time in the world to write almost whatever you want to the prompts you’ve chosen. And here’s how!

A post is open on unreal2pm@lj for all readers, writers, and anyone else willing to share to submit the following prompts:

  • A picture (anything inspiring though preferably not of 2PM)
  •  A quote/lyric (can be a music video, an excerpt paragraph from a novel, random words you found somewhere—but don’t forget to include the source!)
  • A theme (a word/phrase that represents something)

Feel free to post as many prompts as you’d like as the mods will gather them all into a single post that will be shared to everyone once sign-ups are open. Here is an example. You may submit anonymously so that way, you’re not obligated to have an lj account! We are aiming to collect at least a total of 30 sets of prompts (one set is: a picture, a quote/lyric, and a theme). If we don’t reach that goal, the mods will fill in the remaining gap of prompts so 30 sets should be available to the writers to choose from during the sign-ups period.

From May 8th to the 24th, the mods will open up the Sign-Ups post. This means, writers can sign up to choose a combination of any picture, quote/lyric, and theme to their desire. This is not first come, first serve, however. Even if more than one writer chooses the same prompt, this won’t be a problem! Writers have different ideas and styles that allow a diversity of interpretations for each prompt. And if you discover later on that you need to change the prompts you chose, you may do that as long as you let the mods know about it!

After you sign up, you can get started on your fics! The mods will get in touch with you on July 6th for progress and updates and more importantly, we want to help the writers as much as possible. Deadlines are stressful so instead of thinking of the progress update that way, the check-in will be our way of knowing how you guys are doing. But you are also free to send a summary or a scene if you’ve gotten that far!

And guess what? Round 4 WILL NOT have a deadline for the final fic! You may finish and send your fic whenever you’re ready—either before or after August 30th, when Round 5 will be announced. So, take your time! However, the responsibility is on you to make sure that you do send us your fic when measures of freedom are given. If you’d like to join Round 5, the mods will be expecting your fic from Round 4 and one for Round 5.

Round 4 fics will not be posted anonymously. Credits will be given to the writers immediately when each fic is posted—this means that once your fic has been posted at unreal2pm on lj, you are allowed to post it on any and all of your own individual accounts!

THE LOGISTICS

The final submitted fic must be at least 1,000 words and explore all three prompts chosen by each writer. However, if you’d like, you may also write two separate fics of at least 500 words each. And here’s what you can do with two ficlets: you may choose to use two prompts for one ficlet and the remaining prompt for the second ficlet OR you may choose to use all three prompts for one ficlet and choose another three prompts for the second ficlet. The freedom is yours!
