— Even though Dahee looks rather innocent, and really is, she still has a brave soul and strong heart. she's very quiet but stands for what she believes in. she's very soft natured and quirky, she blushes a lot and her ears go red at a lot of things. she likes lame jokes and will laugh easily.
BACKGROUND »
— dahee was born in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She was born as Kyungja Bi, but was given the English name, Melody. growing up in Australia was quite simple and easy going for her, and her twin brother, Kyungjae or Henry, and their older brother, Kyungjoon or Mathew.
when dahee was 11 her parents got into a car accident, her father died on impact and her mother was placed into a medical coma, lasting a few days. as dahee's father was born in australia, his family was there but they couldn't look after three devastated children, the last possible person in the will to look after them was her mother's younger sister, miri - who lived in south korea.
dahee remembers the stories her mother told, when she was a young student she travelled to australia and met dahee's father at university, the two became friends and started to date, and then got married. her mother decided to move to australia and so she left her family behind, in south korea.
seeing as both of dahee's parents were korean, and her grandparents in australia mostly spoke the language, dahee had a good understanding of korean and could write simple words but could speak fluently. moving to south korea was difficult for dahee and her brother's the change had a big impact on them but after a few months they got settled into their new home.
in south korea, her older brother started to rap and would do underground dj-ing and rapping. dahee would go to a few shows but since she was much younger then most people, she couldn't go to a lot. dahee felt very depressed, she bottled up a lot of emotions and kept quiet most of the time, that was until she started to sing, after getting a song stuck in her head. singing helped her open up and she started to feel better.
when dahee was 13 she told her aunt she wanted to be an idol, and miri agreed to help her reach that dream. dahee was a chubbier girl, and she started to diet and work out to lose weight and get in shape. she took dance classes at the local studio and joined a choir for singing. she met a lot of trainees from different companies, as a few would use the dance studio she attended. after turning 15, dahee finally started to audition to entertainment companies. she got a call back once or twice, but after the second round she was out - until she found destiny entertainment. she auditioned and was called back not once, but twice. after both extra auditions and a simple training session, she was called in with her aunt - she become a trainee that day. That same day, dahee and her aunt finalised paperwork for her name to be changed from kyungja to dahee, she kept her english name as melody, as she loved the name.
