“Why all of the sudden?”

“Shouldn’t this be discussed as a family first?”

“Why is dad coming home late if you’re going to drop something this big on us?”

“Have you ever thought how this is going to affect us if we move?”

Ari was quiet the whole time, her brother though was the opposite, jabbing question after question as she watched her mother already expecting their reaction. In all honestly the young girl wasn’t sure what to make of the situation but one thing she was certain it means she’ll be leaving school and everything here behind and the possibility of a new beginning was very taunting but can she leave without her heart? No matter how broken she felt she still feels that Jiyong has her heart in his palm. He just broke it today and she might be breaking it her him soon.

“Your father has been working very hard. You all know that. We’re only doing this because we love you and we only want what is best for you and right now it is.” Their mother started with a heave of sigh, “your father earned a promotion, that is in America. Not only does it benefit him but us as a family too.” By now, their mother is in front of them clasping both their hands in hers with her eyes pleading.

“Please, understand. I know it will be hard but we’re only thinking of your future.”

“When are we leaving?” Ari finally broke her silence, she was perfectly calm as she stared back at her mother giving her hand a gentle squeeze which her mother returned with a sad smile.

“This weekend.” three days from now. Ari only nodded, letting go of her mother’s hold before setting for her room, not once looking back at them. “Okay, I’ll start with packing.”

Ari was perched up near her window, dazed in her own thoughts as she marvel at the beautiful blanket of stars in sky before her alone time was interrupted with a soft knock on her door. She didn’t bother checking who it was when she heard him sit on her bed.

“Bunny, are you okay?” Himchan started, he himself was worried with how his sister was behaving, there was just too much that had happened today and he felt bad as a big brother that he couldn’t even do much to lessen the pain she’s probably feeling.

“I’m surprisingly fine, Oppa.” Silence. They both let the statement hang in the air. Her tone flat and void of emotion. Himchan let her swim in her thoughts before she spoke again, finally looking at him.

“I mean, I can finally start fresh. I wouldn’t have to face the embarrassment of rejection tomorrow.” Ari couldn’t help but chuckle dryly before plopping herself on the bed, “Shouldn’t I be asking you if you’re alright, Oppa? You’ll be leaving your precious fangirls if we move to America.” This earned a grin from Himchan before attacking his sister with tickles which, Ari only reciprocated with squeals of laughter.

“Worry about yourself, Ari. Besides, I’ll be getting more fangirls in America once we start.”

“You are so full of yourself.”

“You know it.”

Ari woke up earlier than usual. She found it ironic since she wouldn’t be going to school today. She opted out, reasoning that she would start on her packing and help around the house while Himchan went to attend half the day, enough to pick their stuff and settle their documents and transcripts with the school. But really, she doesn't have the heart and confidence to walk back there after her little stunt yesterday.

The smell of waffles was what greeted her first, she decided to stuff her face with food before she does anything productive for the day. Her mother is already in the kitchen placing the freshly made waffles on the plate just in time for Ari to dig in. Honestly, nothing could go wrong with waffles. she thought to herself as she ate, already eyeing the second batch her mother is making.

It was nearing noon when Ari let out a big sigh. There were still things she would like to pac but she couldn’t honestly pack everything. Though, she had already filled at least two of her big suitcases it was enough to last her at least two months. She decided to add another medium size suitcase for a few of her things, besides her clothes but as she stared at her half empty room she couldn’t help but let out another sigh, noticing the worned out bracelet now lon the messy floor.

“Jiyong-ssi…” Like a tidal wave, her emotions got the best of her again.

Sweat dripped at the side of her face as she endured the heat watching her brother and his friends play ball at the garage. More like sulking, since they wouldn’t let her play as she pouted when Himchan missed another shot.

“Oppa, I can shoot better than you!” she whined as they continued playing, earning a few snickers as they switch passed Himchan again, only for the boy to groan.

“Fine! You go in. Let’s see if you can beat those ers.” Himchan grunted, collapsing at the grass beside her. Ari could only squeal as she ran to their makeshift court already stealing the ball, luckily shooting a three-pointer as she celebrated on her own. The boys though could only gap at the girl before resuming their playful game.

Jiyong being the competitive spirit that he is, took the game a little seriously seeing as they were behind 5 points.
