A Confession

Unrequited
Sweat was beading from Jimin's forehead making the hairs on his head stick to it. He was completely exhausted; he'd been practicing for hours on end trying to nail one simple dance move that he just couldn't seem to nail. Falling to the floor, Jimin couldn't help but feel disappointed with himself. He couldn't get that one move right and all the moves he was hitting seemed completely unpassionate.

"Here." A voice said as a water bottle was thrown to Jimin. "You're probably just dehydrated. Now drink up, I can't have you passing out on me."

Jimin nodded in response before finally twisting off the cap and drinking half the bottle before coming up for air. "I just- I feel like a failure."

"Don't be. You did nothing wrong. You're just tired, what time did you go to bed?"

"About 7 p.m. but I woke up at 5 a.m."

"Well you obviously didn't oversleep or get too little sleep... You're probably stressed."

Jimin laughed. Stressed? More like emotionally wrecked.

But I can't tell Hobi that. No way.

"I think practice is over with for today, would that be okay?" Hobi asked Jimin. He nodded to J-Hope although what he really wanted to do was keep practicing but he knew Hobi cut the practice short because he had been overworking himself.

"That's probably for the better, I have to study anyways. I have a test Monday."

"Okay, cool." Hobi says as he begins putting his clothes back into his dance bag.

"Are you leaving, Hobi?"

"Yeah, I have a blind date in a couple hours with someone Nam told me about. Apparently, she's this super smart girl that he thinks would be a good match for me. I don't know what to think but I'm going anways."

"I hope it goes well."

J-Hope slings the packed bag around his shoulder and opens the door that leads out to the street. "Don't forget to stretch again."

Jimin laughs at the comment remembering that the last time he forgot to stretch when he finished he pulled a muscle in his ankle resulting in him having to pull out of a competition he knew he had in the bag. "I'll do it now actually!"

Hobi nods then leaves his dance studio leaving Jimin sitting by himself on the hardwood floor.

After his final stretch Jimin pulls his phone out of his bag that's been sitting there since he started practice with Hobi.

10 messages? What the hell? And almost all of them are from Tae... I should've known.

Tae👽JiminYou were supposed to text me to wake me up this morning ~~ I TRUSTED YOU!!!!   (6:32 a.m.)
Tae👽: Chimchim!!! Answer me!!! I'm mad at you. >:(  (6:33 a.m.)
Tae👽: Are you feeling better now? You seemed out of it yesterday... It doesn't matter now! I'm going to cheer you up 😇  (7:03 a.m.)
Tae👽: I just remembered you're at dance practice stop by at my house when you're done I want to hang~  (7:48 a.m.)

Jimin smiled at all the texts he'd received from Taehyung; he never knew how Tae always knew how to cheer him up even on his worst days.

Searching through all his new texts he stared at the name at the top of the screen that he'd recently changed.

Douche.: Hey Chimchim.  (7:34 a.m.)
Douche.: Do you still want me to tutor you tonight for the test Monday? I'm not busy since we made plans for it before what happened.  (7:34 a.m.)
Douche.: It's really no problem for me, would you want to?  (7:58 a.m.)
Douche.: You don't have to come if you don't want to, I don't want you to feel like you're being forced...  (8:03 a.m.)

8:07, it's 8:07.

~I can't today... Thank you Jungkookie. Another time, okay?

Jimin felt guilty... He was almost giving into Kookie. He couldn't help it, how can anyone deny the younger year names Jungkook? No one that's who... especially Jimin.

Jimin needed to leave.

It felt like he was being suffocated. Almost forgiving Kookie and doing completely terrible at today's dance practice? He just couldn't deal with it. Any of it. After packing his bag, Jimin races out of the studio and walks his way home. He could tell he would start having body odor soon due to the all the sweating he'd done and although he knew Taehyung wouldn't exactly care, there was no way he was going to his house smelling like a wet dog.

After sending the text to Taehyung telling him he was on his way Jimin couldn't help but feel nervous. His palms began sweating as well as his whole body in a matter of seconds when he continued thinking of what they're going to "talk" about at Tae's house.

Talk? Talk about what? I swear to god if he talks about him I'll blow up...

Sending a flow of knocks, Taehyung eventually opens the door to Jimin standing awkwardly with his eyes glued to the ground.

"You've been in my house dozens of times, you don't have to be so polite." Tae says as he stares down the boy who isn't willing to make eye contact. "Well, come in. We're just going to my room."

"Where are your parents?"

"They're out shopping. Don't know what for but at least they're gone, right?" Taehyung laughs.

Jimin laughs too and only slightly forced but he's thankful that he's not as uneasy as when he last talked to Taehyung on Friday.

"You haven't been replying to any of my messages the whole weekend, what's up? Is everything okay?"

"Oh my gosh, no. No. Everything's fine!"

Tae laughs at the burst of emotions from his best friend. "You know I can tell when you're lying."

Jimin sighs and waits but nothing. He doesn't say anything, he doesn't even ask about how he's doing which Jimin is grateful for but he can't help feeling like maybe Taehyung doesn't care at all about how he feels. That he only wants Jimin to hangout with because he's fun to be around and not that he actually wants the complete package named Park Jimin that he should have because they're supposed to be best friends. Supposed to be.

Does he even care? Does it matter at all to him how I feel? Wait, no. Of course it does. We've known each other and been best friends for three years! I'm just freaking myself out... Why do I always do this? What's wrong with me? Is there a something wrong with me? What if I'm right? What if Tae actually doesn't care about me?

Taehyung had noticed that Jimin was staring off into space and although he didn't want to interrupt his thoughts, he was deeply worried about him. He'd kept asking Kookie if anything had happened between him and Jimin but he denied everything but Taehyung knew that he had a part in this somehow. Anytime Jimin was upset it was almost always because of Jungkook all because Jimin took everything he said to heart either it being good or bad. But this time it was different. What had Kookie done to Jimin this time? He usually was only mad at Jungkook for only a week but it had been three weeks and Jimin was not caving like he always does. What did Jungkook do to his best friend? He couldn't stand seeing him hurting the way he was.

"Jiminnie?"

Jimin hears Taehyung's call of his name awaking him from his thoughts. He looks around and realizes he's in Tae's room.

When did we walk in here? How long have we been standing here?

Jimin's confusion runs through his whole body and turns his face and cheeks a deep shade of scarlet. Looking down to the floor quickly he hopes Tae had no chance to see the red sweep across his face but when he glances at him Jimin realizes that he'd seen him because he's looking down at him with a soft smile on his face saying "I understand and it's okay".

"What's been going on with you? I know it was Kookie, you don't have to lie to me."

Jimin takes a deep breath and releases the anger he's been holding in since everything happened. Suddenly his hand is being held by Taehyung's and he's being guided to Tae's bed that he's sat on thousands of times. Sitting on the bed, he grips the blanket hard from frustration at himself. He can tell from the way Taehyung is holding his hand that he cares. Taehyung waits patiently for Jimin's answer and plays with the fingers of the boy sitting beside him.

After minutes of silence and waiting, Jimin finally speaks up. "He- he uh..." Not knowing where to start, he throws his hands up to cover his face from the embarrassment he's feeling.

"Start wherever you want, Jiminnie."

"It was during homeroom. Well this isn't something I really talk about because it's really important and personal to me but I like to write from time to time. I had been working really hard on this poem for about two months. I would even stay up until two a.m. some nights because I just wasn't happy with it. Anyways, I finished it and I noticed Kook and me didn't have any work to do so I thought I'd share it with him to get his thoughts on it and so I gave it to him and when he gave it back he-"

In between words Jimin had started choking up but when he finally started to speak about what Jungkook said, he broke. The tears were falling down his face and dropping onto Taehyung's knee on accident.

"I'm sorry," he says as he wipes Taehyung's knee dry.

"It's okay, Chimchim. Do you want to tell me the rest?"

Jimin nods and continues with the story. "He read and when he handed it back to me I asked for commentary but I just thought it would be constructive criticism but it wasn't. It was mean and hurtful. He said it wasn't good enough and that I didn't try hard enough but how could he know? He's not me so how would he know how hard I actually worked on it?"

"Did you tell him how much it meant to you?"

"No but he didn't have to bash it."

"I know but he didn't understand. He thought he was helping you."

"Well he was doing a pretty ty job at helping."

Taehyung laughed at Jimin's comment. "I think you're should tell him how much it meant to you, make him apologize and then accept his apology but don't say it's okay then he'll do it again."

Taehyung lays down on his bed bringing Jimin with him and curls his body to fit around Jimim like a big spoon. "You're safe with me; I'll never hurt you."

Jimin laughs at Taehyung and wipes the leftover tears from his face, "I love you, Taetae."

"I love you too, Jiminnie. But I want you to leave soon so you can go talk to Jungkookie."

"Fine."

~~

"Tae... It's been an hour. I thought you wanted me to go talk to Jungkook?"

"I do but I'm comfy."

Trying to pry himself out of Taehyung's death grip, Jimin screams. "Let me go!"

"No!!!!" Taehyung yells at Jimin while clutching onto him. Wrestling with each other they fall off the bed and land onto the floor.

"I swear to god..." Jimin says while tangled in Tae's legs. "Let me go."

"Fine. Leave."

Whispering a thank you, Jimin walks out of Tae's bedroom and makes his way to the front door of his house. Confused as the to what's going to happen, his mind races with all kinds of possibilities as to how everything will play out.

What am I supposed to say?

He better be sorryIf he isn't, I don't know if I'll ever forgive him.
