I'd been so strong for so long
I could handle everything
Now that you've gone through that door,
I can't see anything
"Wh-what? I can't believe you just forgotten it." She raised her arms admitting defeat. I approached her and was about to hug her but she pushed me away.
"Dar, I'm really sorry... It's just-"
"It's just what, Lu? Please, enlighten me. Make me understand." Dara sighed and sat at the other end of the sofa. I can't bear to see that I've disappointed her yet once again.
"A lot has happened in the office. So many deadlines to catch up." She looked at me, trying to make sense with what I told her. I sighed and sat beside her. I reached for her hands, fingers entwined in mine, and squeezed it. "I'm so sorry, Dar. Please let me make it up to you. I know that this is the only thing you've asked for and yet I've failed you."
"Yes... Yes, you did." Dara removed her hands from mine and stood up. She exhaled as if she was holding her breath ever since we started our fight. She looked at me straight in the eyes and I can see how disappointed she was. She bit her lower lip out of habit. "I... I have to go now."
Dara made her way to the door and I was too much of a coward to follow her. I know she's mad at me but I need to let her cool down first.
What I didn't know was, she was already giving up on me...
