CHAPTER SEVEN
.
Byunghun's head snapped up in shock. Had he heard what he thought the teacher had said? Stunned and gobsmacked, he blinked several times. His train of thoughts had screeched to a stop, fumes of white smoke flurrying through the grey air; station officer desperately waving the red flag.
" 'Cher!" Chanhee slammed one hand onto the desk. Byunghun glanced at him. The teenager seemed to be in shock, as well. "I object!" he cried across the classroom with near-gusto and passion. The violet-haired kid resisted a snort of laughter.
"This isn't court, you know," he whispered mockingly, not being able to let himself miss such an opportunity. "You can stop imitating Defence Attorney," he clicked his tongue, and rolled his eyes before turning back to the front.
"Chanhee-ssi," the teacher raised a brow. "What, exactly, are you objecting to?" he questioned, almost timidly. Chanhee narrowed his brown eyes in reply, and straightened upright. Shaking whatever hair that had fallen into his eyes to the side, he said,
"I will not be partners with Lee Byunghun," he declared confidently, as though he already expected the teacher to bend. Byunghun shrugged, and signalled to the lecturer that he thought the same.
"Well," the teacher started, looking a bit affronted. "I have spent time arranging this specific arrangement-"
"All you did was match us up to the person beside us!" Chunji interrupted. "Spent time? I think not," he said coldly. He looked at Byunghun from the corner of his eyes, and was surprised to see his expression blank. He had expected to catch a glimpse of disgust, or even anger.
Didn't you say that you no longer gave two s about him? So, why are you protesting so much?
Chunji frowned to himself.
Yeah, but I still don't want to have to see his face day and night. I still don't like him, you know, he reminded his subconscious. Therefore, you can shut up now, and let me scream my head off. As. Much. As. I. Want.
"Well," the senior said for the second time, put-off. "I apologise, Chanhee-ssi, but I am not going to change anything. I have made up my mind. My decision is absolute."
At this, a low murmur rippled through the students. Byunghun nearly stood up to applaud him. The first ever - inexperienced and ignorant - staff in the school that was not prostrating himself in favour of Chanhee's wishes.
On the other hand, Chunji was annoyed. He opened his mouth to start the usual ritual.
