Chapter Three

Merely Strangers
Seunji awoke to a delicious smell drifting into the bedroom. Chanyeol was long gone from the room. The kind boy had slept on the bedroom floor for their first night together. He could tell she seemed slightly bothered with sharing the bed so soon. Seunji was incredibly grateful to Chanyeol and would have to find some way to make it up to him later. Perhaps she would sleep on the floor tonight.
Seunji's stomach voiced it's discontent at the delicious smell bombarding her senses. Swinging her legs over the side of the large bed, she made her way to the small kitchenette. She nearly gasped at the sight of Chanyeol standing at the stove, putting himself to the task of making breakfast. She stood for a moment to admire the way the tank top hung off his broad shoulders. Her husband was definitely growing on her. At first she did not believe that two strangers forced to live together could grow so close. Her feelings now disproved what she had originally imagined. She found little things to admire in everything he did. She couldn't help but wonder if he did the same of her.
Chanyeol, humming as he cooked, still had not noticed her entrance. Seunji quickly attempted to tame her hair before silently walking up behind him. She jokingly tapped one of his shoulders and hid out of view as he turned around. After realising his wife's prank, Chanyeol chuckled. "Good morning!" She exclaimed. "When did you get up?" Seunji wondered just how long he had been up cooking. He must not have been able to sleep comfortably on the floor. A wave of guilt of passed over her. Chanyeol smiled a giant toothy smile in her direction. She noticed a cute blue apron that was tied around his neck and couldn't help but smile back.
"Good morning. I woke up early to make us some breakfast. I thought you'd be hungry when you woke." Chanyeol explained. He dished up some freshly scrambled eggs for the both of them and cleaned the remainder of the cooking supplies. Seunji watched in awe, she had never seen a man so willingly make breakfast and clean up after himself. He kindly smiled at her as he set the two round, red dishes piled high with eggs for the both of them.
Seunji's stomach grumbled audibly as she sat down with her husband.
"I guess you are hungry." Chanyeol teased. Seunji nodded, slightly embarrassed by her stomach noises.
"Thank you so much. I will eat it well." said Seunji. She was honestly still in awe that he woke up early to make her breakfast after only the second day of knowing her. The two were still practically strangers. Hopefully that would change soon, besides they were "married" now.

The next few days progressed just like that. They'd slowly learn small things about each other and grow closer because of them. The two would play games, sing, and on some days they wouldn't even see each other at all because their individual schedules were so full. Seunji had a hard time getting used to the delicate ring of metal, adorned with a shiny diamond, that she had to wear every day now. Chanyeol had the same dilemma. The metal band was constantly worn on his fourth finger, day to day.
The couple's peaceful routine continued on, monotonously, until the next red envelope came. All that was inscribed on the mission card was an address and a time. They were supposed to meet somewhere the next afternoon as a couple. The duo pondered what this could mean.
"I wonder what we will have to do." Seunji mumbled.
"Whatever it is, I know we can do it." Chanyeol said and then paused. "I'm really curious but I'm also really hungry. We should go out to eat."
Seunji agreed full-heartedly, and so did her stomach.
With a mischievous look in both of their eyes the two ran down the stairway that led from the apartment to the street. Their competitive sides urged them to chase one another through the lobby out into the world outside. The air was filled with the rich smell of damp fresh earth and car exhaust. Streets and sidewalks glistened with the coating of warm rain that was falling. A group of anxious looking teens moseyed past eyeing the couple curiously.
"You're not afraid to get wet are you?" Chanyeol teased. However Seunji was stubborn and wouldn't let a little rain stop her.
"Of course not! Where are we headed?"
"The closest restaurant. I still don't know what is around here."
