Chemical Reactions

Description

Neither boy was enthusiastic for the upcoming year in chemistry class. That is, until they became lab partners.

This was a prompt given to myself and two other friends called "Chemistry Class". We wrote our own interpretations with our own chosen pairings. :)

Foreword

School had officially begun. Hallways were full of bustling bodies making their way to classes, and voices so loud they seemed to echo in your head. The lab tables gradually filled in the small chemistry classroom. The noise in the classroom was nearly as overwhelming as in the hallway. Jimin, unlike many of his classmates,  quietly read a book at an empty table in the back of the classroom. Consumed by the mystical words on the pages, Jimin hardly noticed another boy take a seat next to him. He glanced up sheepishly to see the larger figure, headphones in, head nodding to the music. The boy had a reddish brown color hair, sharp features, and with further inspection, Jimin concluded, DARN this boy wasn't bad looking. He quickly shoved his nose back into the book's pages.
As class began, the boy looked directly at Jimin and said, "I'm Jungkook. Who are you?" Jungkook said looking expectantly at Jimin.
"J-Jimin." He stammered. Jimin mentally cursed himself for being nervous.
Jungkook smiled at him and all of Jimin's fears melted away. Jungkook had one of those smiles that made you want to smile right along, like it was contagious.
Up front, the teacher, an older man with graying hair, was giving the instructions to the experiment they were about to do. His voice drew on and on in a lull so monotone it sounded like a robot's. Jimin only managed to retain about half the information given because he was dazing off, thinking about the handsome boy next to him. Jungkook sat at the same table, absent mindedly  flipping his pencil in and out of the in-betweens of his fingers, unknowingly thinking the same thoughts. The boy besides Jungkook was shorter than himself and had possibly the cutest eye-smile he had ever seen. Jungkook was interested in Jimin from the moment he walked in. Almost drawn to him in a sort of way.
The students were released to start their experiments. Jimin gathered beakers, stirring rods, a Bunsen burner and all the materials needed to begin. Jungkook headed to the front table to grab the chemicals. He returned with three test tubes full of brightly coloured, unknown liquids. Having not paid attention to the lecture, Jimin and Jungkook paused staring blankly at the supplies.
"Uh.. Do you have any idea how to do this?" Jungkook asked an equally confused Jimin. Jimin shook his head with a frightened look decorating his face.
"Well, I say we just go for it." Jungkook grabbed a beaker and lit the burner. Jimin handed him a slightly green colored liquid in a test tube with a now mischievous grin playing on his lips. The boys heated the liquid and proceeded to add drops of another clear substance. The concoction fizzed and bubbled like shaken up soda pop. Jungkook stirred the mixture adding a few more drops here and there.
"Jimin, pour in the blue-ish chemical!" Jungkook directed. He certainly was having way more fun than he should, then again, so was Jimin. Nearby lab tables glanced nervously in their direction. As the blue-tinted liquid was poured into the already boiling and fizzing mixture, it didn't seem to react. Disappointed reactions arose at the not-so-amazing reaction.  Suddenly, the bubbles fizzed right out of the beaker creating a teal foam-like substance. The foam blasted everywhere. Gasps were heard all throughout the classroom along with a scream or two. After the catastrophe ended, the ceiling, everything within a three foot distance, and both Jungkook and Jimin were coated in blue-green foam.
The boys knew from the moment they saw the teacher's face, they were dead meat. In fact, Jungkook and Jimin would have to stay after school in detention to clean up the mess they created. Despite the punishment, the two boys snickered and just couldn't keep themselves from smiling.

When Jimin returned home after the long, exhausting day, he came across a piece of paper stuck in between the pages of his textbook. The wrinkled piece of notebook paper came with a message.
"I had fun exploding things today! Maybe we have some of our own chemistry ;)" -Jungkook"
Underneath the short message, was a phone number with a heart and a winky face. Jimin pulled out his phone and texted the tall boy from chemistry class almost immediately. He couldn't seem to wipe the goofy smile off his face.
Despite causing an explosion on the first day of chemistry class, Jimin hoped that the chemistry between Jungkook and himself would only grow from here on out.
