Japanese folklore speaks of a harbinger of misfortune, Nue is its name.
The Japanese chimaera, with the head of a monkey, body of a raccoon dog, legs of a tiger and a snake for a tail. This creature of air can also turn into a black cloud and fly.
But when a prosperous village gets cursed, who will save them?
Lightning flashing, rain splashing, thunder crashing. All trademarks of a terrifying thunderstorm.
Dangerous, terrible, and a bringer of destruction. It can wreak havoc upon nature, homes, and people.

What if it goes against Mother Nature to stop it?
Foreword
Hana looked out the window forlornly, it was pouring yet again. It never seemed to let up, the rain kept pouring.
The thunder and lightning had its moments but they were there too. She didn't know why it was like this, but it wasn't good for the town. The crops were being flooded, houses were being damaged, and despite living close to the ocean, the waters were too dangerous for anyone to fish.
Their food reserve was starting to run out and Hana had to think of a solution soon.
"Princess." A soft voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Bom unni, you're older. You can just call me Hana." She chided.
"I'm your lady-in-waiting. You are of the Lee Dynasty. I do not wish to be reprimanded for doing such a thing." Bom said.
"Fine." Hana pursed her lips together. She didn't like being called Princess, it made her feel like she was higher than everyone else.
And even though she was, she didn't like to be reminded of it.
"Your father wishes to see you." Bom said.
"I'll go." Hana got up and gathered her dress, before following Bom out of the room.
They walked into the emperor's quarters. Her father was bed-ridden due to an illness he had caught.
No one else seemed to notice but his illness started at the same time the thunderstorm over the town did.
"Hana." He coughed out.
"Appa." Hana said, kneeling at his bedside.
"You need to start preparing for the food shortage." He said softly.
"I know." Hana said, her only options were to let people starve or ask the neighboring kingdom for help.
The latter being her last resort. The neighboring kingdom while respectable had a very y prince that liked her.
He wouldn't help without wanting something in return and she knew it.
"I will make sure that the people will survive. Just get better, appa." Hana said.
"I'm trying." Her father nodded before having another coughing fit and Hana was rushed from the room.
She needed to figure out how to save her father and the people. And fast.
—
Hana wandered out onto the roof. It was dangerous she knew, but it was something she had to do.
The open air cleared her head and she walked precariously at the top of the roof.
Her nimble feet staying flat against the smooth tiles, those gymnastics classes her father had her take were worth something.
"Do you always do dangerous things?" A deep voice behind her asked.
She turned quickly, having been caught, and her foot slid.
The man caught her before she tumbled to the ground, "You should be careful." He warned.
"I know, you just surprised me." Hana said, pulling out of his strong arms.
He was warm, her clothes were already drenched from the rain and her body temperature was slowly decreasing.
"You should stay by me. Or else, you'll get sick." The man said, pulling her closer to him, sharing his heat.
"Who are you?" Hana asked.
"Someone that can survive the thunder and rain."
