06. Confusion
Finite ImmortalitySaehyun rushed down the stairs behind him, beating her father down the stairs as she rushed towards their guest, “What are you even doing here?” She said to him.
“Stop it.” Her father said sternly, reaching the bottom of the steps and walking towards him, “Prince Luhan, to what do we owe the pleasure?” He greeted him with a smile.
“You never came back with an answer, so I was wondering what the outcome was.” Luhan answered him, “You said to give it a week and today is one day past week.”
Saehyun looked to her Father and he gave a tight smile again, “You are right. But nothing has really changed. Your parents still want the marriage.”
“I do not.” Saehyun said clearly, cutting into the conversation.
Her Father turned to glare down at her, “You have made your point very clear, sweetheart.”
“I see. Well, if we are to be married, then we must start setting the date.” Luhan said politely. “I wouldn’t want to disappoint.”
“I already said no. Not until my Father divorces my mother.” Saehyun said, butting into the conversation again.
Her Father muttered a curse under his breath, throwing his hands up and turning away. Luhan turned to her instead with wide eyes, “Why would you want your parents to divorce in order for you to be married?” He asked her.
“Because my parents married for love.” She answered simply, “And if my Father expects me to be arranged, then he needs to show me that only arranged marriages work."
“Ahh..” Luhan replied, “So you do not want to marry me?”
Saehyun gave him a wry smile, “Don’t think I’ve forgotten all of our social gatherings. Quite simply, you are not my type.” She said.
“My parents believe this marriage is good as you would be marrying royalty. And as would I.” He told her.
“I believe this marriage is good.” Her Father said, this time he was the one cutting into the conversation.
Saehyun held her hand up for her father to keep quiet as she analyzed Luhan’s words. “So it seems you are being told to marry royalty then?” She asked him.
Luhan sighed, “Yes, it is their preference.” He told her, his shoulders slumping in sadness.
“Well, why don’t we make a deal?” Saehyun offered, “Let’s null this engagement and we can do what we want.”
