01. In the Beginning
Finite ImmortalityHe held her hand in his as they walked barefoot, he made sure that she wouldn't step on anything that would hurt her. Her foot fell into a small dip in the grass and she squeezed his hand tightly for support. He easily kept her upright and she gave him a big smile and he couldn’t help but smile back at her.
“Lay, why do you stay here?” She asked him, her bright eyes full of wonder and excitement. The animals had come out to play with them and she said hi to the bunnies and the deer. Her white dress was soiled with grass and dirt but she didn’t mind it. She had her hair braided with flowers inside and her little crown stayed in place firmly on her head.
“This is my home.” He answered simply, they kept a slow pace as they walked through the forest. All the creatures rose to greet them and Lay gave them all warm and gentle smiles. “Why do you ask me that?”
“Wouldn’t you want to live with me?” She asked him hesitantly. She was afraid of offending him, after all. He grew up here, but she didn’t think it was inferior but rather, her home had more human interaction whereas the forest was just animals.
He smiled and shook her head, “In your castle? Not really. They are my friends and I want to stay with them, plus we talk every now and then. I learn about their lives and I get to see them grow. Plus I have to watch over the unicorns.” He told her, “Don’t you want to see them?”
She nodded her head excitedly, “Yes! Where are they?” She looked around as she realized that none of them had come out to say hi.
“This way. They don’t like to be out in the open so they just hide in this one clearing.” He told her, leading the
