Like fairies dressed in red and gold, leaves swirled and danced their way from tree branches to the ground, which was already carpeted with thousands of them. She could almost hear the crisp sound they would make beneath her feet as she would take her steps, and could almost feel the cold air biting her cheeks. Almost, for she was not outside walking, but was inside a moving car, looking through one of its windows, watching autumn happen. It was an enchanting sight, but with it come bittersweet memories. She welcomed the familiar pain, wondering why, though enough time has passed it did not diminish to a dull ache.
