Language of Love Chapter 1 - I Love You
A Thousand Tales - A Collection of One Shots and Short Stories
“Oppa! Oh my gosh, they’re both here!” the shrieks of fangirls pierced the air. Carrie winced and hugged her albums closer to her chest, afraid that a bunch of fanatics may grab it away from her. This was China and she was at a Super Junior-EXO fansign. You never know.
She stepped on her tiptoes to try and see if her bias, Henry, was going to be there. It was China and the Korean members should have translators. When she finally saw the stage, she understood what the fans had meant. They were Henry and Zhou Mi.
She saw that they had staggered the EXO-M members between the Super Junior members and was excited to see that Kris was next to Henry. She could communicate with both of them easily, using English or Chinese, whichever they preferred.
“Hi Henry, can you sign this album for me?” she held out Perfection and he nodded.
“Did you like my solo song on this album?” he laughed jokingly.
“It was actually the best song.”
He nodded and wrote: Dear Carrie, thanks so much for the love. SJM jia you! She bowed to him and moved on to Kris.
“Hi Kris, I wanted to congratulate you on your debut. Can you using this for me?”
Henry was impressed by her command of both languages. He glanced over at her, as there was no more fans waiting. He watched her communicate fluently in Chinese and high fived her. “Whoa, that was impressive. Most people I know only speak one language well.”
Carrie blushed and shook her head. “English at school, Chinese at home.”
Kris laughed and joked, “I think I should hire you to be our Chinese tutor for Chen and Xiumin. They do need help.”
She jokingly wrote down her cell phone number and handed it to Kris. “Contact me anytime.” She bowed to the remaining members and left the event.
For a few days after, she spent her time shopping and touring the rest of Beijing. It’s been a while since she’s been back to China and things had changed quite a bit. She had forgotten that she had left her number with Kris and one day received an unknown call.
“Hello?”
“Hey, is this Carrie?” a deep voice sounded. She tried to place the caller but couldn’t think of who it could be. “Oh, pardon me. This is Kris, from EXO-M. I think this was the number that you gave us at the fanmeet.”
“Y-yes, it’s Carrie.” She was shocked. She never thought he would keep her number, not to say take her up on the offer.
“Oh that’s great! Our translator had a family emergency and we’re sort of tight on people. I know you probably aren’t very fluent in Korean but I’ll help you teach our members Chinese. It’ll really help them for our future interviews. We can pay you however much you want really too.”
She was dumbstruck for a few moments. “Carrie?”
“Ah, oh yeah. Don’t worry about paying me. Really please. It’s really an honor to be working with such talented people anyway. When do you want me to start?”
“Whenever you’re free. I’ll text you our address. Thanks a ton, Carrie.”
When she hung up, she stared at the phone for a good two minutes. “Miss? Are you in line for something?” the cashier asked.
“Uh, no thank you.” Her phone had beeped with a text and she was excited. Their dorms were not far from where she was now. She grabbed her bags, dropped them off at the hotel and made her way to EXO-M’s dorms.
