The Only Exception

Marshmallow Is Sweet And So Is Revenge

Mark just wanted a simple date and Jackson agreed but life's known for its twisted humor.

This is not based on a Paramore song. XD

And yes, the real sequel. I've decided to just put it here 'cause I'm too lazy to do it separately. Too much work ugh.

Please excuse the grammar, typos, wrong usage of words and the whole story itself.

………………………………………………………………………………………

In the nineteen years of his existence, Wang Jackson had only asked girls out for a quick — well, most of the time, he didn't even have to ask. They willingly throw away their selves to the wild and y Jackson. But everything has an exception and for Jackson, it comes with a red poodle hair and a matching pair of puppy eyes. Mark Tuan; the first person he had ever asked out on an exclusive date and not for (though he wouldn't mind sticking his up on that lovely — okay, off topic). And Mark is a boy.

Woah, that's two exceptions already.

And that day was the day he and Mark were going out for the first time.

He had made sure to look presentable, impeccable even, and he was satisfied at the reflection in the mirror staring back at him. But for some reasons, his heart was pounding hard and loud in his chest. He had never felt like this before. He breathed in and out a few times to calm himself.

"You can do it, Jackson. You're great. Wooh, yeah!"

"Where do you want to go?

"I want to go to a park and walk with you while holding hands." Mark blushed as he answered Jackson's question.

"I want to know everything there is to know about you first and I want to share who I am with you."

Jackson snorted. "As if you already didn't know everything about me."

"True. I guess I just like hearing your voice."

When Mark had said yes to the date, Jackson was conflicted. Of course he wanted to make an impact and make it something worth remembering. But Jackson figured that the first date shouldn't be too overwhelming, or else he would run out of ideas in the future. Besides, Mark is pretty simple minded. It's one of the things Jackson admired on him. He never complained unless it's a shallow thing, and he just does for the sake of laughs.

But Mark had the tendency to get sardonic and violent, especially whenever he played games with Jackson and Jinyoung. One minute he's pouting over his loss, the next thing he's pulling Jinyoung's ear because the male had decided to open his mouth to blurt out teases. And Jackson could only watch with a loving gaze and smile.

He's so smitten but it's Mark so he's fine with it.

Unless his brother or mother witnesses. Just the thought of those two family members seeing him so whipped makes him shudder. At least his dad is silent.

Anyway, Jackson had chosen the park with the freshest air in the city. With his best casual clothes— a mustard yellow shirt with thin horizontal maroon stripes topped with a sky blue jacket, pair of navy skinny jeans and sneakers— he walked towards where Mark was sitting leisurely with a grin. Mark lifted his eyes from the skateboard beneath his high cut shoes to Jackson and gave out one of his heart-stopping smile. Jackson's pulse throbbed faster at the sight.

"Hi."

"Hey, Jacks."

Jackson sat beside Mark. "How long have you been here?"

"About half an hour. I was practicing." Mark gestured down to his board. "You know how?" Jackson asked with genuine curiosity. He loved unraveling Mark's hidden traits and skills. Mark shyly nodded.

"I can teach you if you want."

Teach he did. But who said Jackson was a good student?

It has been fifteen minutes and the best Jackson could do was go on a straight line, without turning. And turning is a ing basic. He sighed frustratingly. But just as he thought of quitting, an idea popped in his mind. He faced Mark who was too busy giving out instructions to him (which went from his right ear and exited to the left) and smirked.

"... and that's basically it. Okay?"

"Got it, loud and clear."

Jackson winked cheesily making Mark emit a chuckle. "Then try it."

Jackson pretended to concentrate. "Like this, like this— o-oh!"

He intentionally fell from the skateboard and bumped Mark causing the poor guy to stumble back but with his quick reflexes, Jackson caught Mark by the wrist and pulled him back, their faces inches away from each other.

"Are you okay?"

They could feel each other's breath and it's getting quite disturbing but none made the move to back away because it's also romantic.

"Yes." Mark whispered breathily, making Jackson feel a weird sensation in his insides. A little bit more and Jackson would be able to taste paradise on Mark's lips. Slowly, they inched forward, nearer to each other. Just a little bit more...

"Ka Yee?"

Jackson groaned, irritated at the sudden interruption but then he knew that voice oh so well and every muscles in his body tensed. He turned to his right.

"M-Mom?"

"I've never seen you before, dear. Perhaps you are a new friend?" Mrs. Wang asked Mark as she sliced her steak. Mark, flustered, glanced at Jackson for a split second before answering.

"Yes, Mrs. Wang. I've only been at school for two months."

"Oh," Mrs. Wang nodded whilst chewing a bite. She turned to Jackson. "Son, you haven't introduced Mark properly since we got home."

Yes, home. As in the Wang household. Jackson didn't even know how it happened. It just did.

And the ride home was actually quite awkward, if he might add.

"Well, mom. This is Mark Tuan, my boyfriend."

"Aw, aren't you a straightforward bastard, my love?" Mark whispered to him with a tight smile directed to Mrs. Wang, who had promptly dropped her utensils in surprise. She blinked at them, before shrugging and resuming eating. Mark started breathing again, Jackson noted.

Jackson knew his mom wouldn't mind. His parents could be strict due to being athletes but they were also open-minded and understanding. The only thing he didn't really like about them was—

"Just remember to use , Ka Yee."

— their teasing. Jackson turned beet red and hid his face at the crook of Mark's neck.

"Kill me now."

Mark bowed politely when he, Jackson and his mother reached the double doors of the Wang's mansion. "Thank you for the food, Mrs. Wang—"

"It's 'mom', Mark."

Mark flushed and straightened up to grant Mrs. Wang a cute smile and Jackson couldn't stop the feeling of fondness swelling within him. Jackson smiled at Mark adoringly.

"Yes, mom."

"Now that's unexpected."

Jackson couldn't agree more. He gazed at Mark with gentle eyes before focusing again on the rode. "She likes you, Mark."

"I like her too. But..."

"But?"

"I'm just thinking why she didn't interrogated me that much or something."

"Interrogated, huh. I think it's my brother's job."

"You think?"

"Yeah. I don't know, I've never introduced anyone to them yet. Only you."

"I'm honored."

"You better be."

"I like you."

"You better do."

Mark laughed. "This is my first ever date."

Jackson definitely have to step on the break before his 'baby' hit another running vehicle. "What?!"

"And I'm glad it went this way. Today was perfect, Jacks. Thank you."

Mark leaned in to kiss him full on the lips, and Jackson swore his heart beat the fastest at that moment than it ever did in his whole life.

It was their first kiss.

When Mark pulled away after a few seconds, Jackson cupped the other's cheeks that had already turned in the same shade as his hair and kissed him again, deeper this time.

Jackson decided to ignore the beeping of cars behind them.

To hell with you, es.
