A few years ago your childhood friend, Kris, had left to study abroad in Korea. You were depressed, but knew how badly Kris wanted to go to this school. Being the good friend you were, you put on a smile and encouraged him to go.

Time passed and you were still completely miserable. Well how could you not be, your best friend was gone. You had no one to talk to. You spaced off in class and thought about Kris. 'What if he replaced me?' The thought made your stomach twist in knots.  You imagined him laughing and doing all the things you guys used to do with his new best friend.

After the teacher dismissed class you went to the restaurant that your family owned. Maybe so home cooked food would cheer you up and get your mind off of Kris.

As you opened the door to your parent’s restaurant the little bell rung, informing your family that there was a customer.

“Welcome to –“ Your mother said, her words cut off when she saw that it was you. “[y/n]? What are doing here? Is something wrong? Are you ok?” She attacked you with questions. 

“Yes mom, I’m fine. I’m just a little homesick.” You lied not wanting to burden your mother.

“Ok well sit here, I’m going to cook you something that will pick your spirits right back up!” Your mother said happily while kissing your forehead. You always wondered how your mom stayed so positive, you envied her. As your mom made her way into the kitchen, your sister came out to see you.
