Chapter 5

You Can Lean on Me

*Any thing in bold will be what Luhan signs to Minseok ^.^

“Again!” Minseok demanded shoving the leather-bound book into Luhan’s chest.

Luhan rubbed the sore spot on his chest, ‘Does this guy not understand that in order for me to remain this handsome I need my beauty rest? Meaning I should not be up past eleven o’clock, let alone one in the morning.’

Minseok continued to shove the book in Luhan’s direction, his bottom lip jutting out in a pout, “Please Luhan.”

Luhan rolled his eyes, ‘Is he really doing this right now?’

Minseok whined, his pout growing larger.

            ‘He’s really doing this.’

“Please Luhan.” Minseok tugged on the hem of Luhan’s shirt.

Luhan groaned snatching the book out of Minseok’s hands. Minseok cheered his hands already in position. His pout quickly turned into a triumphant smirk, ‘Such a little .’

Luhan flipped through the book, stopping on the page with the alphabet. Luhan mimicked the signs from the book between Minseok’s hands. Minseok softly glided his fingertips over Luhan’s hands familiarizing himself with each position. With each sign he would mutter the letter under his breath over and over again etching it into his memory.

Slowly one by one Luhan signed each letter for the ninth time since the two left the library. After signing the last one Luhan withdrew his hands and waited for Minseok to demand they do it again.

Minseok huffed out his chest, “I think I’m getting the hang of this already.”

            ‘Just wait for it.’

“Maybe we should run through it one or two more times before we head to bed.” Minseok mumbled thinking out loud.

            ‘There it is.’

Luhan flicked Minseok in the knee. He tapped Minseok’s hands and Minseok happily lifted them up. Luhan signed three short letters B E D.

“Hey! I understood that!” Minseok cheered, “Spell something else.”

‘That just went completely over his head.’

Luhan flicked Minseok again, this time in the forehead. He climbed off Minseok’s bed and fell straight onto his shoving his head into the comfort of his pillow. He cracked open an eye, Minseok was still looking at the spot Luhan sat mere seconds ago, his arms crossed and a scowl on his face.

            “So rude.” Minseok grumbled.

Luhan reached over and flicked him again. He flicked out the side table lamp and buried himself into his bed. He heard Minseok overcome his mini drama and slide under his sheets as well.

“I guess it is pretty late.” Minseok yawned, “We can practice more in the morning.”

‘Screw that, I am not waking up any earlier than ten.’

Luhan felt a feeble push to his shoulder, “Luhan.”

Luhan groaned, ‘I’m pretty sure it’s not ten yet.’

Minseok gently pushed his shoulder, “You’re harder to wake up than the dead.”

‘At least they’re getting better sleep than I am.’

Minseok continued to bother the younger man, “Come on it’s almost nine.”

            ‘Told you.’

Minseok gave Luhan one final push, “I’m going to the bathroom, when I get back you better be up.”

Minseok dramatically huffed and jumped off Luhan’s bed. He miscalculated his footing and ended up tripping over the leg of the bed, falling flat on his face, “Ow.”

‘He’s impossible.’ Luhan got off his bed extremely slow, groaning in disinterest the entire time.

“I’m waiting for you to help me up, now hurry.” Minseok snapped holding out his hand.

Luhan gripped Minseok’s hand and tugged him to his feet. Minseok whipped off the imaginary dust off himself, “You took your time.”

‘He’s blind; he’s still fully capable of picking himself up.’

“Well for some reason I don’t have to pee anymore so let’s practice before breakfast.” Minseok climbed back on his bed, waiting for Luhan.

Luhan picked up the book off the nightstand and sat opposite of Minseok. He cracked open the book to the page he was on last night. The pair spent the remaining twenty minutes before breakfast going over the signs. Minseok had Luhan change the order around to test himself to see which ones he remembers.

“Awe look at you two cuddling and .” The nurse sarcastically cooed.

‘When the hell did she get here?’

Luhan looked over his shoulder at her. She was in her usual nurse’s shrubs with way too much makeup littering her face. She was leaning against the wall her arms crossed over her chest ‘and there is no way those s are real.’ With her usual smirk plastered on her face.

Minseok leaned over and whispered to Luhan, “Do we even know her name?”

“Yah! I’ve been taking such nice care of you and you don’t even have the respect to remember my name?” The nurse chewed obnoxiously on her gum.

            Luhan just shrugged.

“It’s Jongdae!” The nurse growled, “And you two better be up and dressed and down at the cafeteria in no less than ten minutes.”

The nurse stomped out of the bedroom grumbling a small hissy fit to herself.

            “Isn't Jongdae a boy’s name?” Minseok asked.

“I hear that!” Jongdae shouted from down the hall, “And no it is not.”

‘That is totally a guy’s name.’

“That’s totally guy too, when I first got here I accidently bumped into her and those s are so fake. I bounced right off them, pretty sure that’s not supposed to happen.” Minseok shook his head.

Luhan let out a small wheeze, brightening Minseok’s face up like a Christmas tree. Minseok went to pinch his cheeks but ended up tugging his ear, “So cute.”

Luhan playfully shoved Minseok’s hands away and stood up. He stripped of his pajamas and into jeans and an old band shirt. Minseok waited for Luhan to go into the bathroom before changing himself. They each brushed their teeth and fixed their mangled bed head, with Minseok getting additional help from Luhan.

The pair made their way down to the cafeteria, Luhan’s hand already intertwined with Minseok’s. Luhan waved to Chanyeol who was across the room sitting with one of his patients. Chanyeol smiled and waved back before turning his attention back to the elderly woman.

Luhan grabbed Minseok’s favorite cereal and a bagel for himself. The two sat at their regular table eating their food silently.

“Do you know if it’s nice out?” Minseok chirped.  Upon receiving no answer from the other he continued, “We should sit outside, we’ve cooped up in this ratty building for the past few days we need fresh air.”

Luhan squeezed Minseok’s shoulder in agreement. After they finished and Luhan threw away the trash Luhan dragged Minseok over to Chanyeol.

“Channie, what’s it like out?” Minseok poked his friend in the back.

Chanyeol looked over his shoulder, “It’s nice out, a little windy but nothing too bad.”

            “Are we allowed outside?”

            “Ye-“

“Okay thanks Channie.” Minseok waved back over his shoulder, already walking away leaving Luhan behind his walking stick waving angrily.

Chanyeol shook his head an amused grin on his face; he gently shoved Luhan, “Go before he ends up hurting himself.”

Luhan had to jog to catch up with Minseok. Minseok was wondering around in circles in the middle of the cafeteria. Luhan wheezed and took Minseok by the hand.

“I swear I am never going to get tired of that it is simply to precious.” Minseok giggled happily.

It was easier finding the backyard, much easier than finding the damn library which had to be shoved in the most deserted part of the building. Luhan pushed open the door, squinting his eyes at the sudden brightness. He shielded his eyes from the sun with his hands and led Minseok to a bench under a large oak tree.

Minseok grinned widely, “It feels nice to be out of that musty air and into fresh.”

Luhan helped Minseok sit and sat next to him, bringing his legs up to his chest. Minseok leaned back against the bench basking in the little rays of sunlight peeking through the oak’s branches.

“Let’s practice again. We can see what we both know without you using the book.” Minseok lifted his hands, “Try spelling a word, something simple and short.”

Luhan placed his hands in between Minseok’s letting them rest there. He fumbled around with various signs, unsure on what to say. Minseok would begin to feel the sign before groaning when Luhan would shake him away and begin signing a new letter.

Minseok sat patiently waiting for Luhan to sign something worth stressing over. He laughed softly when he heard Luhan sigh in frustration. Minseok leaned forward pecking Luhan quickly on the lips, “You talk too much.”

*I orginally wasn't going to make Minseok kiss Luhan just yet, but I thought you guys deserved it ;)

In other news it took me forever to finish this chapter because I was way too excited that I'm seeing Twenty One Pilots this weekend a.k.a one of my favorite bands ^.^
