It was a cloudy Saturday afternoon and with nothing to do and nowhere to go; you decided it was going to be your lazy day in. You didn't even change out of your pajamas once you were able to drag your dead weight body out of the bed.

Looking around your living room to decide what you would do for the day, you spotted your recently purchased fantasy romance novel that had been neglected for the past couple of days. With a firm nod of confirmation you decided that today will be the day that the novel will be finished.

With the book in hand, you grabbed the fuzzy wool blanket from atop the couch and snuggled into the corner. With the blanket securely around your legs you started reading what you thought was going to be your favourite book of all time.

You had purchased the book a few weeks back after you finished the previous book you had started. You absolutely love reading, but try your best to only buy one book at a time. More than one book and you were sure you would be reading at least five at once.

You always loved romance novels and the extra layer of fantasy gripped your attention every time. This time was no different either. It was something about the bravery of the female, the chivalry of the male and the promise of true love that had you melting at the turn of every page. Usually when the end of the book neared, you knew your emotional tide of waterworks would emerge full force. And today was no different.

It had been a few hours since you started reading, and you were nearing the end of the book that yes, as you predicted, had easily become number one on your favourite book list. However, as also predicted tears started flowing slowly down your face as you read the beautiful words printed on the pages.

You were a sap for romantic stories, but you also couldn't help but think when your prince charming would come and sweep you off your feet. When were you going to go out and have magical adventures with the man of your dreams? You couldn't consider yourself an ugly person or a boring one at that, so it was frustrating when men never seemed to even want to approach you.

While you were off in your fantasy world, you barely registered a knock on the door. You thought it was your imagination until the knock came again. Curious since you weren't expecting any visitors you quickly emerged from the warmth of the couch and made your way to the door, book still in hand.

Remembering your tear stained face you decided it would be best to look through the peep hole of the door first. There was no point in opening the door looking like a mess when a stranger was going to be on the other side. Fortunately the presence waiting on the other side was not a stranger; however, it unfortunately was your best friend Luhan.

For a reason you had yet to figure out, seeing Luhan always made your heart beat that much faster, as though your heart responded excitedly to his presence only. What you knew for certain though, was that being with Luhan made you undoubtedly happier.

Without wasting any more precious time, you quickly did your best to wipe away the evidence that proved you were recently crying and unlocked the door to let your best friend in.

"_______! Oh no, have you been crying? What's wrong?" Luhan quickly took notice of your distraught appearance and took no time at all to give you a tight hug.

"Well I guess I couldn't get rid of all the evidence. Man, I would be horrible at pulling of a crime. I would get caught in no time!" You couldn't help but let your mind wander to random thoughts of your being a terrible criminal, until Luhan brought you back to the present time.

"Let's go sit down, you can tell me what happened then."

Once you were both comfortably sitting down on the couch in your living room, Luhan asked you again what made you cry.

"I would tell you, but you would probably think it was a silly reason for someone to start getting all emotional." You trusted Luhan and he was your best friend, but he was also a guy and probably wouldn't understand the reason you were crying. Would it be that easy to blurt out I'M JEALOUS OF A FICTIONAL CHARACTERS LIFE! That would sound ridiculous!

"Come on ________. If you can't tell me, your best friend might I add, why you were crying, then who can you tell?" With those deer eyes of his, you couldn't help but fall apart and tell him the reason.

"Fine. But don't laugh at me!" With a quick nod from Luhan, you started your explanation.

"Well you see, I bought this book a few weeks ago and I decided today would be the perfect day to finish reading it." You paused to see Luhan looking at you intently. Taking a deep breath, you started again.

"It is a fantasy romance novel and well, I can't help but cry when it gets to the ending. Everything is so perfect and wonderful. The lady and man fall in love so gracefully and the ending just proves that the rest of their life will be nothing short of perfect." Retreating back into the fantasy still revolving in your head, you almost forgot Luhan was sitting patiently next to you. Once again he brought you back down to earth.

"So, why exactly were you crying then?"  You could see in his eyes, that he was genuinely interested in the answer. You of course knew why; he hated seeing you cry, even if it was for a ridiculous reason.

"I was crying because everything is so beautiful and I can't help but think where my prince charming is? When is someone going to fall completely head over heels for me and go on adventures with me? When am I going to get married to the perfect man and have a perfect happily ever after? I am crying because I want my prince charming!!" At this point, you were near tears again. You were an emotional person to begin with, but talking about a possible fairy tale life made you quite passionate.

"What if you were missing your prince charming? What if he was right in front of you all along?" Now it was your turn to look at Luhan with confusion coating your face.

"What do you mean Luhan? If I met my prince charming all ready, surely I would know!" You would know, right?

"I mean, what if someone who has been by your side for so long is your prince charming? What if you just missed him because you weren't really looking?" You could tell for some reason Luhan was looking at you with pleading eyes. You weren't quite sure why though.

"Yah right Luhan, I don't think I have yet to be acquainted with my prince charming. But for the sake of conversation where is this prince charming you speak of?" You were curious and interested; surely you haven't met your prince charming without knowing right? Right!

"Well, I'm right here."

"Of course, you're here Luhan. I'm talking to you aren't I?" You really didn't get it, you saw Luhan's shoulders deflate slightly but why would that happen when all he did was just state the obvious. Of course he is here, where else would he be at the moment?

"That's not what I - "

"You just don't get it Luhan! I mean after all you are a guy and guys don't go looking for a prince charming. Guys also don't normally read fantasy romance novels and cry at the beautifully written words on each and every page. You just don't get it; it's my one true love I'm looking for here! Ugh, I'm going to make myself a tea. Do you want anything?"

With a shake of his head you started retreating into the kitchen, while Luhan started thinking about how he could possibly confess his love towards you. Yes you were his best friend, but every time the two of you spent time together, his feelings only grew. He knows for certain you are his love whom he would undoubtedly want to spend the rest of his life with. Now to just get you to understand his feelings.

As Luhan continued contemplating the best way to approach you, you re-emerged from the kitchen and took your previous seat on the couch. Considering the tea was still too hot to drink, you placed it on the small table in front of you and turned your body toward Luhan.

"__________ I have something to tell you." Luhan looked at you with seriousness written all over his face. You have to admit you were starting to feel nervous, with the sudden tense atmosphere.

"O-ok. S-sure."

"________........ I like you."

Hearing this you couldn't help but to fully relax, and much to Luhan's dismay, also start laughing.

"YAH! Why are you laughing?"

"Sorry Luhan. I can't help it. You got all serious just to say you like me. Well I like you too, that's why we are friends isn't it?" You couldn't help but giggle some more as Luhan just looked at you with a you've-got-to-be-kidding-me look plastered obviously across his handsome features.

As you were trying to suppress the few giggles that managed to escape the confines of your mouth, Luhan was desperately thinking of a new plan to get you to understand his feelings.

"Guess I'm going to have to go for the more direct approach."

With determination and fire spreading in his eyes, Luhan turned towards you, grabbed your face in between his hands and pressed his lips softly but passionately onto yours. It took a few seconds for your bug eyes to retract back into their sockets, but once they did you allowed yourself to melt into the sweet kiss you were receiving.

"I like you _________. I don't mean that as your best friend though. I have always liked you, but now after constantly hanging out I know that I love you. You are the princess that I have been searching for, the woman that I want to spend the rest of my life with. I will be your best friend, your knight in shining armour, and your prince charming. Together, I believe we can make our own perfect fairy tale ending and live happily ever after. I love you ________. I love you so incredibly much."  Luhan declared all of his feelings for you and silently hoped that you will finally understand what he is trying to say to you.

After a few moments, allowing for the both of you to regain your senses and comprehend what exactly just happened, Luhan lifted his forehead off from yours so he could see what you were thinking.

"Well why didn't you just say that you liked me? Geez, no need to get all intense."

Luhan just looked at you dumbstruck. Did you really just tell him that all of that was not needed? Did he also not tell you that he in fact did like you, but you thought he was saying it as your best friend? Honestly, at this point, Luhan wasn't really sure what to think. That was until he heard what you said next.

"Despite that though, I have to admit that I love you too Luhan. I never understood what I was feeling when I was around you. The too fast beating heart, the face splitting grin, the butterflies floating rapidly in my tummy. I now know that these feelings that I was experiencing was all because of you. I guess you were right. I all ready did find my prince charming and he was right in front of me all along. I love you Luhan, very much."

Sealing both confessions with a final kiss, Luhan took you under his arm and had you both snuggled comfortably on the couch. Grabbing the blanket and draping it over the both of you, Luhan the TV and found a movie for the two of you to watch to waste away the rest of the afternoon.

Quickly glancing at your forgotten book on the table, then to your prince charming Luhan, you realized that maybe you didn't have to look so hard for that one special person. Maybe your fairy tale is finally coming true and your happily ever after is just beginning.

With your own romance story taking off, you decided that you were going to stop reading romance novels and start another type of written adventure. Maybe a murder mystery?
