Realisation
And where was forever? His stomach lurched as he found them.
Hand in hand, his wife and his son, swinging and singing their way back to their apartment that he had checked from her profile in the office.
He could have been there.
He should have been there, holding the hands of his son, smiling with his wife, walking with his family.
His heart raced as they neared, his mind in a mess whether he should alight and face the happy duo.
Her eyes fixed with his as he emerged from the black Audi that she was eyeing suspiciously since they neared.
She watched as his gaze moved from hers, and landed transfixed on the little boy she was holding in her hands. A sense of realisation came over her and intuitively she pulled the little boy to her back, seeming to shield him and protect him from what is to come.
He looked up and met her defensive stares and came upon a realisation.
That he was his son.
I wish I could turned back time. 7 years ago.
I will love you all over again, but this time, I will never leave you in pain.
No measure of time with you would be long enough.
But we'll start with forever.
