When they arrived outside the apartment complex where Xiumin lived, Xiumin carefully liftend Luhan's head off of his lap before getting out of the care. Carefully, not to wake the sleeping cat-hybrid, he lifted Luhan into his arms. He then made his way over to the other side of the car to thank D.O. 

"Thank you D.O really. You're today's hero. I don't think he would've been able to walk all the way here on his own". 

D.O just flashed him a small smile before his face turned serious. 

"You're the most caring and responsible person I know, but please remember that Luhan is not a summer-cat you can keep for a while and get bored of. You promised him you'd adopt him right?" 

Xiumin nodded at him. As expected of his best friend. He had already figured him out. 

"Exactly. You didn't promise him you'd look after him for a while, you promised him you'd adopt him. Now you better stick to that promise or I'll get Tao to wushu, your you hear me? Hybrids are part human, meaning they obviously have the same feelings as we do. Luhan may or may not know what it feels like to be loved and cared for, but that's your duty now. To show him that he's more than those people made him out to be, okay?" 

Xiumin knew by the look on D.O's face that he meant business. D.O was not someone who took people's feelings lightly, the opposite. He was definitely a person you could count on when you needed someone to went to, someone who wouldn't judge. He couldn't let D.O down on this, he knew that much. Not that he had planned on doing that anyway. 

Still, he couldn't help but feel a bit uncertain as he took a glance at the sleeping hybrid in his arms. Would he be able to take care of him well? What if he did something wrong? What if he hurt Luhan without meaning to? What if they didn't get along? 

"D.O I'm... I'm scared I guess. What if I hurt him? What if I can't do a good job after all?" 

D.O gave him a sympathetic look, lips forming a soft smile. 

"If anyone can do it it's you. I don't know what you did but that boy came to trust you faster than anyone in his situation would normally do. And that's just the thing that you always have to remember Xiumin. It doesn't matter what this leads to. It doesn't matter if he becomes your pet or if he becomes your lover one day as it turned out with Suho and Chen. No matter what happens, you've got to remember that he trusts you. He's depending on you. He literaly has nobody else to turn to. His whole life began to circle around you the moment you told him you'd take him home. Remember that, and you'll always do a good job. You'll make mistakes surely, but you'll learn". 

Xiumin was speechless after hearing D.O's words. The though that he was Luhan's life now... It all felt so surreal.  

D.O told him good night before driving away down the road, and Xiumin took a last look at the snoozing bundle in his arms before entering the building he lives in. 

Once his big and tidy apartment he walked over to the cough and carefully put Luhan down on it. Luhan immediately changed his position in his sleep, curling into a ball in the corner of the v-couch and tucking his tail around himself. A soft purring could be heard and Xiumin couldn't help but to smile at the sight. Never in a million years would he have imagined that he'd adopt a hybrid. Sure, the though had crossed his mind many times. As a single male living alone in a big apartment it could get lonely sometimes.  

After changing into his pajamas for the night, consisting of grey pajama-bottoms and a white t-shirt, he grabbed a soft, baby-blue blanket with white polka-dots (a Christmas present from Baekhyun) which he put over the sleeping hybrid. Tucking Luhan in to make sure that he'd stay warm, he then retreated back to his bedroom to get some shut-eye after the day's events. 

He woke up the next morning to the sound of his phone. Grumbling in annoyance, he reached for his phone and opened the message. 

"Told the boss you adopted a hybrid and had to stay with it as it got used to it's new home. He said that you needed a break from work anyway, so he gave you the rest of the week off. He wishes you good luck as well. Can I come over after work?" 

-D.O 

Sending mental waves of gratitude to his thoughtful best-friend, he began texting back. 

"Have I ever told you how much I love you, like seriously? Just come over when you're finished, I'll make dinner". 

-Xiumin 

Throwing his phone to the side, he then went to the bathroom to wash up. After a quick shower and some basic styling of his dark-brown hair, he was ready for the day. Changing into a pair of comfortable sweatpants and a loose dark blue V-neck he then headed out to get some breakfast. Today he'd actually have time to eat it since he didn't have to rush to get to work on time. 

In the living room he was met by the sight of a sleepy looking hybrid sitting in the corner of the cough, looking like he was still debating whether to actually wake up or go back to sleep.  His blonde hair was totally messed up and his lips were forming a slight pout. Xiumin giggled silently at the sight.  

He walked over to the hybrid and sat down on the cough, unsure of what to do next. Was it alright for him to touch him or was he afraid of him?  

"Had a good sleep?" 

The hybrid turned to look at him, rubbing one eye with his hand before fully looking at him though sleepy eyes. 

"Yes thank you. This cough is really comfortable. I could sleep here forever if I had to". 

Xiumin chuckled at the answer, glad that the hybrid didn't seem way too frightened by his presence. Taking a chance, he reached out to try and pet Luhan. His plan seemed to fail at first since Luahan flinched away from his hand, but then he relaxed and let Xiumin's hand fall on top of his head.  

The blonde hair was just as soft as it looked and Xiumin liked how it felt when he treaded it though his fingers. It felt silky and nice and Xiumin thought that he could do this all day. 

His thought were interrupted by the sound of purring. Focusing on Luhan once again, he found the hybrid leaning into his touch, eyes closed and his tail swaying from side to side slowly. 

Suddenly remembering something, Xiumin reached behind Luhan's ear and carefully scratched.  

Luhan purred louder, opening his eyes to look at Xiumin. Xiumin couldn't help but smile innocently in fascination. Luhan really behaved like a real cat, purring and all.  

Luhan, deciding that he found Xiumin's innocense very cute, leaned into his touch even more before he finally rested his head on Xiumin's shoulder. Xiumin was taken aback at first, before he recovered and continued to pet and scratch Luhan behind the ear. 

They just sat like that in comfortable silence for a while, the sound of Luhans' purring filling out the silence like a soft engine. That was until a grumbling noise echoed throughout the room.  

Looking down at the hybrid, he was met by Luhan's wide, startled eyes and blossoming cheeks heating up in obvious embarrassment. Xiumin giggled which made Luhan blush even harder, before he looked up at Xiumin with uncertain eyes. 

"I...well... umm..."  

Luhan looked so lost, and Xiumin understood him. It was clear that Luhan wasn't sure if it was alright for him to voice his needs out loud. Even telling Xiumin such a simple thing like the fact that he was hungry seemed like a struggle. 

"It's alright Luhan. If you're hungry you just have to tell me and I'll make you something. It's alright to voice your needs and opinions now. I'm not like them". 

Luhans' eyes seemed to get a bit moist at his words before he gave him a small smile and nodded weakle. Xiumin smiled right back and scratched him behind the ear a final time, enjoying the sound of content that Luha let out. 

"I'll make us breakfast okay?"  

When Xiumin stood up and looke down at Luhan he suddenly realized that Luhan was still wearing the same t-shirt and boxers from yesterday. Quickly making his way to his bedroom he fished out a baby-pink oversized t-shirt with a yellow heart in the middle (yes, another present from Baekhyun) and made his way back to Luhan.  

"Here. Change into this at least. I'll text my friend to pick up some basic clothes from one of the hybrid stores okay? Bottoms, so that your tail will fit as well. As you might understand, my pants doesn't have any holes in them".  

Luhan giggled and nodded, before taking a look at the t-shirt. 

"Sorry about the design. it's a gift from one of my other friends. He loves cute things. That blanket you slept with was from him as well". 

To his surprise, Luhan shook his head and a soft smile appeared on his lips as he eyed the t-shirt. 

"No, I like it. It's so different from what they made us wear back... there".  

And when he put it like that, it really made sense to Xiumin. After years of wearing next to nothing or at least very revealing and vulgar clothing, cute things like these provided a sense of comfort to Luhan. These sort of clothes were the polar opposite of what he had been forced to wear before. 

"So I take it as you like this kind of things? Or do you like more basic things like the clothes I'm wearing?" 

Luhan took a look at Xiumin, eyeing him up and down, before hugging the t-shirt to his chest. 

"I like this better" His tail and ears twisting in happiness. 

Xiumin smiled softy at him. Of course he had nothing against Luhan liking cute things. After all, Luhan looked so innocent and cute all by himself. Leaving Luhan alone to get changed, he texted D.O. 

"Hey could you do me a huge favor? Luhan only has boxers and the only thing I could provide him with was that big, pink t-shirt Baekhyun gave me at Valentin's day. Could you drive by a hybrid-store or something and get him some bottoms and maybe some t-shirts or jumpers?" 

-Xiumin 

Only seconds after he had cracked the first egg for the omelet he was going to make, his phone beeped. 

"Of course no problem. I'll call Suho and ask him where he buys clothing for Chen. You gave him that shirt?! Poor thing..." 

-D.O 

"Actually he loved it... Seeing as how he had to wear such revealing clothes before, is it really a surprise that he's come to love the cute and innocent style?" 

-Xiumin 

"No I guess not, it actually makes sense. Maybe I should ask Baekhyun where he bough all of those t-shirts, hats and socks... I'll drop by later after work as we promised okay? Got to get back to my shift now". 

-D.O 

Putting his phone on the kitchen counter, he looked to his right to see if Luhan had managed to change. Apparently he had, and he must say that Luhan really chose the right style for himself. He looked absolutely adorable in the huge t-shirt, as he pulled at the hem cutely. 

"You look really cute in that". 

Luhan turned to look at him, cheeks a light shade of pink as he mumbled a small "thank you". 

"I'm almost done with the food. could you help me set the table?" 

Luhan quickly shuffled over to the kitchen and began taking out cutlery, plates and cups from the cupboards as Xiumin instructed him. 

*CLANK* 

Xiumin turned around, startled by the sound. Behind him stood Luhan, looking down at the broken plate which he must've dropped. When he looked up at Xiumin again, he looked like he was ready to cry. Something seemed to click inside of him because he immediately kneeled down on the floor and began picking up the sharp shreds. 

"Luhan don't do that! You'll get hurt, those shreds are really sharp!" 

Luhan looked up at him from his position on the floor, tears evident in his eyes. 

"I'm sorry Xiumin, I'm so sorry. I broke it and it's all my fault. I'll be good from now on so please don't kick me out. Please let me stay. I don't want to go back there. I don't want to play with those men again. Please, just please, I'll be good..." 

The sight of Luhan crying over such a small accident made Xiumin's heart ache. How desperate wasn't Luhan to make Xiumin let him stay if he even begged like this? Kneeling down in front of Luhan, careful not to cut himself on any of the shreds, he wiped away his tears. 

"Hey, it's alright. It was an accident. I have dropped millions of plates in my life and it's alright. I'm not going to kick you out, never. I promised I'd take care of you and I'm going to keep that promise. Now, let's get you away from these shreds shall we?" 

In one swift movement, he lifted Luhan off his feet and put him on top of the kitchen counter. 

"Now wait here while I clear the floor okay?" 

After clearing all the shreds, Xiumin could finally serve himself and Luhan breakfast. Omelets, bacon and toast with Nutella. Watching Luhan eat was a joy, really. He devoured the food as if he had starved for weeks, and when he was finished with his omelet and bacon, he realized that Xiumin was only halfway done. He looked down at his plate, embarressed, before taking a smile bit of his toast. 

"You're not going to put any Nutella on that?" 

Luhan looked up before eyeing the jar of Nutella suspiciously.  

"What is that?" 

Xiumin smiled at him, before grabbing the toast from Luhan and spreading a thick layer of Nutella on top of it before handing it back. 

"Something made by the gods. Now try it. You'll love it I'm sure". 

Luhan still looked uncertain, but since his new master wanted him to try it he'd obey.  

Taking a small hesitant bite, his eyes widened as the sweet flavor spread through his entire mouth. Soon he was stuffing his face with the toast, not even caring how much of it that ended up around his mouth. This stuff was delicious! 

Once he was done, he his fingers clean from the mess, when the sound of giggling reached his ears. Looking over at Xiumin, Luhan once again realized his own behaviour. All he wanted to do now was to take the soft blanket he had slept with, hide in a corner and never see daylight ever again. 

Grabbing some wet napkins, Xiumin made his way around the table to Luhan wherehe dried off his fingers and mouth as if Luhan was a messy toddler. 

"Aigoo such a messy kitty you are Luhan". 

Luhan just blushed as he let Xiumin clean his mouth and fingers.  

While Xiumin did the dishes, Luhan found his own entertainment in watching reality shows on Xiumin's big flat-screen. But after a while, even that got boring. Luhan was a kitty after all, and he wanted to play. So he began to wonder around the apartment, wondering what he should do to pass the time. Hopefully Xiumin would be done with the dishes soon so that he could play with Luhan. 

But what if Xiumin didn't want to plat with Luhan? What if he found Luhan annoying?  

Luhan felt so confused. Xiumin told him to voice his needs, but the problem was that such behavior had been strictly punished back at that place. Luhan didn't know what was right an what was wrong anymore, all of his rules for how he should and shouldn't behave were totally messed up. And it really stressed Luhan a lot. 

"Luhan! Where are you?"  

Luhan immediately went back to the living room after hearing Xiumin call for him, wondering what Xiumin wanted. 

Xiumin was sitting on the sofa, smiling once he caught sight of Luhan. 

"There you are. Do you want to watch a movie with me? Or do you want to do something else?" 

Luhan really wanted to play instead of sitting still, but at the same tim, Xiumin's lap looked really comfortable. Maybe if he asked really nicely... 

"We can watch a movie". He made his way over to the sofa, sitting down cross-legged next to Xiumin. 

"Okay. Do you want to pick a movie or do you just want to watch whatever is on?" 

"Whatever is on is fine. I don't know that many movies anyway". 

Xiumin zapped around until he found something that seemed alright and they settled down to watch the movie. Luhan was fidgeting all over the place and it made Xiumin slightly nervous as well. Was something wrong? Didn't Luhan like the movie? He was quite sure that there shouldn't be anything traumatizing or triggering in this one... 

His thoughts came to a stop as a weight settled onto his lap. Looking down, he was met by Luhan's wide doe-eyes, as if asking if his actions were okay. He didn't give him a verbal response. Instead he began to pet and scratch Luhan behind the ear as he had done earlier. 

Luhan relaxed under his touch, snuggling his face further into Xiumin's stomach and closed his eyes. His tail came up to curl around his own waist as it always did when he slept. The petting and scratching behind his ears felt nice and he suddenly felt very sleepy. Yawning with a small "meow" he decided that this was probably the nicest he had felt in a long time. 

Looking down at Luhan snoozing off Xiumin grabbed the baby-blue blanket at put it over Luhan so that he'd be comfortable during his little nap.  

Little kitties needed to restore their energy after all. 

A/N: Two chapters in the same day?! Is the world coming to an end? 

I seriously have to get some sleep now. It's almost 2 AM over here and with my insomnia it'll take me hours before I actually get to sleep. Thank god for summer vacation!
