The sugar-coated words he spoke to me were all lies. The actions he showed me to “prove his love” were all lies. I should have known. Love doesn’t exist. It never has so why should it suddenly appear now? My parents claimed their love for each other was everlasting but that quickly fell apart.  Their love for me also ceased with their split. My friends said we would be together forever and that betrayal wasn’t a word in their dictionary. But in the end, promises are not kept. Why would his be any different?
