Chapter 2- Royal Gala

 

Baekhyun laughed out loud as Chanyeol say something funny about the Duke, “Yeollie, even though he can’t hear the joke, you can’t say such things” he scolded his lover, who pouted at his reaction

 

“Yeah, hyung’s right, but it’s funny though” Jongin wiped a tear from his left eye before patting Chanyeol’s back, “and I don’t care about getting sent to the dungeons, I’d always want to hear this joke” Kyungsoo slapped Jongin’s arm to stop him

 

“By the way, thank you for the goat you’ve sent us, we’re gonna be prosperous for days” Kyungsoo directed at Chanyeol, who just wave it off

 

“Nah, no need to thank me” Chanyeol smiled and tried to sip some water but refrained the moment the Duke took the seat beside Baekhyun

 

“Good evening lads, and to you my dear” the Duke directed mostly at Baekhyun before kissing the latter’s hands, and Chanyeol fought so hard not to punch the Duke straight on the face because of his actions

 

Does this guy is always this rude? I mean, I’m here! And he has the guts to flirt with Baekhyun! Chanyeol’s face crumpled as he stares down his lap and wait until this stupid gala was finished

 

Who the hell invited them again anyway? Oh he remembered, it was personally the King and Queen, and of course, Prince Luhan, he inwardly sighed, he tried to recall how the hell he even agreed to this, and again, he remembered, because all of his friends and Baekhyun, persuaded him to, even Luhan raised a command, just so he would come, Chanyeol lets out a quiet sigh

 

“It seems to me that my presence is making you uncomfortable, so I better get going” the duke ended his chat with Baekhyun, in which, Chanyeol is more than thankful for, before the duke continued his way to the King and Queen

 

Chanyeol let out a “hmp” before drowning himself in wine to drown his miseries, in which, his friends just laugh at, “hyung, you know your alcohol tolerance isn’t very good right?” Sehun , and he just glared at supposedly his son

 

“You are my son Oh Sehun, can’t you be more supportive of your father?” he gave his son a look, “na-ah Chanyeol hyung, I’m not your son legally” he stick out a tongue in which was pushed back by the passing Prince, “put your tongue back, I don’t want someone else it” Luhan glared at Sehun

 

Everyone in the table groaned in fake disgust, “yah! Put those thoughts later on the room!” Joonmyeon scolded from the other side, “Joonmyeon, don’t act like you and Yixing don’t do it” Luhan rolled his eyes at him, and the younger just hide his reddened face in embarrassment, “see, it wasn’t that hard to know all your deepest secrets” Luhan snickered

 

“This kingdom surely will fall once you’re the leader, because we have one dirty little prince here” Jongdae joked, in which earned a good slap on the back of his head from Minseok, “yah, you don’t joke about those things, the kingdom might really fall on Luhan’s reign” he narrowed his eyes at his lover

 

“Ok, I got it,” Jongdae raise his hands in surrender, “I won’t talk” he huffed and pouted, and just receives an eye roll from his lover, “you seriously needs to fix some loose screws on your brain” Minseok mumbles silently, which didn’t go unheard by others who all burst into laughter

 

Baekhyun suddenly excuses himself to go into the lavatory, “Do you mind me go with you?” Chanyeol asks worriedly at his lover, Baekhyun smiled slightly, “No, not at all” so Chanyeol stood and accompany him

 

Baekhyun linked their fingers together and just smiled at the younger who give him a look, “Ah! Baekhyun-ssi!” they both looked at the person who called Baekhyun, and smiled because it was the General, they both showed respect by bowing, “um, what may I help you sir?” Baekhyun asked as he slightly loosen his grip on Chanyeol’s hand, in which, the latter quickly tightens again

 

“hmm, I was just gonna congratulate you, and also you Chanyeol-ssi, I heard you’re gonna get married next month” the General give them a smile before shaking both of their hands

 

Both of them thanked the General before proceeding to the lavatory with full of laughs

 

Everyone was fascinated and overjoyed knowing that the heaven-made couple was already getting married, everyone was happy for them, for so long they waited for this day

 

Everyone, except one

 

 

 

 

 

“What did Baekhyun-ssi even see in that lowly shepherd huh? That man can’t even match me if we ever fight, all he knows is how to take care of filthy animals” Kris collide his fist on his mahogany table before slumping on his high chair

 

“Hyung… why are you so infuriated by Baekhyun-hyung? He doesn’t show any signs that he’s interested with your whole existence, but… look at you, being pathetic and cursing Chanyeol-hyung with such loathe I can’t imagine” Tao blurted out suddenly at Kris because he can’t take it that his favorite hyung is being insulted behind his back

 

He felt guilty for siding with the cruel Duke just because of his stupid love for the said man, and now, he had not only betrayed his friends, but also, he will be part of his hyung’s fall

 

Kris raised an eyebrow before making his way in front of Tao before leaning so close to the younger, seeming to read the younger’s mind, “Are you regretting siding to me? Do you my dear?” he said the words sweetly with hint of danger in his eyes

 

Tao gulped, but held his head high, “yes, and what are you going to do huh? Send me to the dungeons?” he asked as he narrowed his eyes

 

Kris yanked Tao’s hair harshly before gritting through his teeth, “You can’t back on this Huang Zitao,” he pulled the younger’s face closer to his, “because if you did, I won’t hesitate to kill all of you, you and your inconsequential little friends” he released his grip on Tao’s hair before returning to his seat in front of the younger

 

“You really is evil hyung, but I will make sure to save Chanyeol hyung if ever you tried to hurt him” Tao stand up and bowed to Kris, to show that he still respects him as a royalty

 

Kris narrowed his eyes at the younger, “are you threatening me?” he asked with venom in his voice, in which Tao just shook his head

 

“No, I’m just telling you sire that I’m willing to risk my life for you, and it’s not idiocy, it’s caring” he turned his heels to walk away from the devil who would try to ruin their perfectly calm kingdom

 

“Yeah, beat me to it Zitao” Tao could hear smirk from the Duke’s words, and he didn’t think twice before running to the Prince the second he got out from the Duke’s office

 

 

 

 

 

“Your highness!!!!” Tao screamed as soon as the Prince came into his view

 

Luhan quirked his eyebrow when an bushed Tao got near him with his hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath, “What are you doing here in this late night Tao? And why do I feel that you ran a little bit seeing you in that state, what is it?” He asked, using wisecrack on little bit part

 

“Hyung, Duke Kris is gonna kill Chanyeol hyung tonight, please, help me save him!”

 

 

 

 

 

Baekhyun and Chanyeol squints their eyes as the door opened and the light made them blurry

 

“Grab them, but don’t hurt my Baekhyun”
