Title: Enchanted

A/N: All dialogue written in English takes place in Korean, all dialogue written in strange Chinese characters is written in Mandarin. duh. yeah. Translations will be right at the bottom of the fic! Sickening badly written fluff ahead lol bye.

{The playful conversation starts, counter all your quick remarks like passing notes in secrecy}

Kris taps his foot against the carpeted flooring impatiently. He was waiting in an empty study room in the library, the sound of his huffs and sighs the only sign of life in the room. 

Ms Kwon, his Literature teacher, had assigned the class a project (during his first week of school!!!!!) due in 2 weeks and placed him in a group with Junmyeon, a quiet boy with big eyes called Kim Minseok and (thankfully) a Chinese student called Luhan. Kris didn't know the other two boys very well; Minseok seemed nice enough, but he's heard comments that Luhan, while a good person, could be a bit..... excitable? Nonetheless, Kris was apprehensive at the thought of meeting two new people he'd never interacted with apart from awkward greetings. However, the thought of spending time with his secret-but-not-so-secret-not-a-crush, aka Kim Junmyeon, made him feel all tingly inside. However, the fact that he'd get to work with his assigned buddy, Kim Junmyeon, made him relieved.

But for now, he was sitting alone in the study room waiting for his three other group mates to show up. They had arranged to meet at 2PM, since their lessons ended early today. But as the clock ticked past 2:12PM, Kris started to fidget uncomfortably.

Did they forget about the project? Did they change the venue and forget to inform me? Maybe they never intended to show up...

Just as Kris was about to stand up and begin pacing around the room, the three males bursts through the door.

"Kris! I'm sorry we're so late, we got caught up with Principal Lee and we couldn't escape from him and--"

Junmyeon bends over, clearly winded from running to the library and explaining the situation. But all Kris can do is stare subtly-but-not-so-subtly at his-secret-but-not-so-secret-crush as he wipes the sweat off his forehead and straightens his uniform. Oh my god he looks beautiful even when he's sweaty and dishevelled and

"啊... 原来你喜欢俊绵呢.." Luhan smirks in his direction, and the two Koreans look on confused at the sudden change in events.

“不是这样的！！” Kris splutters out indignantly, willing himself to stay cool and not have a total freak out there and then that would give away his obviously large teeny crush on the aforementioned Korean male.

All Luhan does is raise his eyebrows before he sets his things on the table and turns to the Koreans.

"It's nothing it's nothing, just sit and chill yo." 

Junmyeon and Minseok eye him sceptically, but obey nonetheless. The four sit around the wooden table, Luhan with a -eating grin looking at Kris who is glaring holes into the table, a confused Minseok and an equally lost Junmyeon.

"... Oh right! How could I forget... Kris, this is Minseok and Luhan. Guys, this is Kris. He's the new Chinese transfer student from Canada. Alright, shall we get started then?"

The each take out their texts of Romeo and Juliet, Kris' book straight and new as compared to the three other males' tattered and worn books.

"This is stupid. The only impression I have of Romeo is that he's a whiny stupid . He deserves to die. Juliet, on the other hand, seems pretty decent. She probably shouldn't have died."

That earns Luhan a smack across the back of his head from a poker faced Minseok, and an affronted look from Junmyeon.

"But Lulu, it's so romantic! I mean, having someone that would DIE for you, that's such a huge sacrifice. And the balcony scene is sooooo sweet, how Romeo climbed the walls and risked death for Juliet, that's probably true love."

"That's just plain stupidity."

Junmyeon glares at Luhan before turning to Kris. "Well... Kris agrees with me, right Kris?"

No, Junmyeon, I don't. Romeo is a dumb bastard that I don't give a about. "Um, yes. I think tha—that Romeo and Juliet's love for one another is amazing. Yeah."

Junmyeon beams. Minseok nods silently. Luhan sniggers.

Over the course of the discussion session, Kris finds out Minseok is a pretty cool guy, Luhan should stay away from sugar, and Junmyeon is a hopeless romantic who believes in knights in shining armour and true love.

"Okay, Luhan and I have to leave first for soccer practice. So we'll meet at the local library this Saturday?" Minseok stands up and stretches, stifling a yawn, before slowing gathering his belongings and meticulously arranging them in his haversack. Luhan begins collecting his stationery before randomly throwing them in his bag and standing up. “Kris, 你要好好把握这个机会哦，加油! Bye Junmyeon!” Luhan wiggles his eyebrows at Kris before moving to the door. With a wave, the two males are gone, leaving behind Kris and Junmyeon. They continue on in silence, Junmyeon occasionally breaking it to ask Kris questions about the assignment, and if he understood what they were discussing, and that if Kris didn't understand something, he'd always been willing to explain it him.

But all Kris could focus on were Junmyeon's pink lips has his mouth formed words he couldn't process, as well as Junmyeon's clear dark brown eyes that sparkled whenever he got excited about something.

"Kris.. Kris? Do you understand what i'm saying?"

"Umm.... yes."

Junmyeon laughs brightly, nose scrunching up before his lips turn into a cute pout.

"You weren't listening! Anyway, I think we should go now because the library's gonna close soon."

Oh my god he's so beautiful "Umm... okay. Yeah. I'll just pack my stuff up. Yup."

The room turns to awkward silence again, with Junmyeon standing and fidgeting beside Kris who is clearing his stuff. Junmyeon opens his mouth, attempting to break the strained atmosphere.

“So Kris, where do you live? Is it somewhere near campus? I live at the little estate near the school, y’know the one with the childcare centre.”

Of course I know where you live, I've been walking behind you after school every day. "Oh cool, I live there too. I live at the beige house down the second street.”

“Really?! Now I have someone to walk home with every day!”

“every day”. Every day. EVERY DAY. OH MY GOD DID KIM JUNMYEON JUST SAY HE WANTS TO WALK HOME WITH ME EVERY DAY OH MY GOD KRIS CONTROL YOURSELF BREATHE IN, BREATHE OUT, BREATHE I—OH MY GOD WOW WOW WOW I—

“Um.. Kris, you okay there? I mean, it’s okay if you don’t wanna walk home together it was just a suggestion just pretend I didn’t say anything yeah if I offended you in –“

YES LET’S WALK HOME TOGETHER EVERY DAY “No, no it’s fine. It’ll be nice to walk home with you somebody. Y’know. Won’t be lonely and stuff. Yup.” And I get to stare at you more often and maybe I can hold your hand or maybe even kiss you no big deal.

Junmyeon blushes at that and Kris feels an overwhelming surge of affection well up in his chest. Their eyes meet and they both smile shyly, and Kris feels immersed in a dizzy feeling called love.

The walk back home is surprisingly comfortable, bathed in the orange glow of sunset with a cool breeze brushing past them. Playful banter goes on between them, Junmyeon telling Kris to smile more often or he’d look like “a scary tall giant” and Kris retorting that Junmyeon was just “jealous of [his] style”. Their laughter peaks through the slowing hustle and bustle of the neighbourhood in the evening, bright smiles and light hearts the result of their gentle teasing and random conversation.

Junmyeon comments that the puffy clouds up above look like adorable little bunnies, Kris thinks Junmyeon is like a little bunny.

Finally, they stand in front of Junmyeon’s house, Kris refusing to leave until he personally sends Junmyeon to the door. (“What if you get kidnapped or mugged along the way? Or you could run into some hooligans even though this isn’t the bad part of the neighbourhood BUT STILL these things could happen, Junmyeon!!!” And all Junmyeon could do was giggle at Kris’ show of protectiveness and accept Kris’ kind act of walking him all the way home.) They both look at their feet, unsure of what to say. And for once, Kris takes the initiative.

“I had fun today. Really. Thank you, Junmyeon.”

Junmyeon shakes his head slowly as a blush creeps up on his two cheeks, before looking Kris straight in the eye with a breath-taking smile on his face. “I didn’t do much, there’s no need to thank me. And I really had lots of fun with you today too. I’ll see you tomorrow then, I guess?” Kris nods before nudging Junmyeon to the door, eyes never leaving the smaller man in front of him.

Just as Junmyeon steps into the door, he suddenly turns back around and takes a deep breath, seemly nervous before—

“Do you wanna walk to school together tomorrow? I mean, again, it’s okay if you don’t want to but I mean since we live so close by each other, why not right? I usually leave the house at 7:30 though so that may be too early for you so it’s okay if you don’t want to it was just a suggestion I—“

Kris chuckles and seriously contemplates kissing Junmyeon to get him to shut up grabs Junmyeon’s arms to get his attention, before replying affirmative that yes, he’d love like to walk to school with Junmyeon tomorrow and that no, 7:30AM was not too early at all.

Relief is clearly evident on Junmyeon’s face as his expression visibly relaxes. With one last smile and wave, and a gentle “See you tomorrow, Kris”, Junmyeon enters the house before closing the shiny wooden door. Kris stands there for a while, a wistful smile upon his face, before he turns away and begins walking towards his own beige-coloured house, the butterflies in his stomach doing somersaults and bungee jumps and extreme stunts.

But Kris doesn’t mind.

TRANSLATIONS:

啊... 原来你喜欢俊绵呢.. --> Ahh... so you like Junmyeon..

不是这样的！！--> It's not like that!!

Kris, 你要好好把握这个机会哦，加油!  --> Kris, you better take advantage of this opportunity, fighting!
