Woohyun wondered if his heart was going to jump out of his chest. At the rate it’s going, he doubt he’ll even make it to  his destination, the park. Worse of all, he was late, and running towards her made matters worse. By the time he reached her, he was panting and sweating. As he took a moment to rest, before he could even apologize, she pointed to him in mock, exaggerated anger. “Nam Woohyun! It’s 3:30pm! We agreed to meet at 3! You’re late!”

Pretending to fall to his knees to play along, he gave her his best impression of puppy eyes and pouted. “Oh great _____-nim! Forgive me, for I have sinned!” As she reached her hand out to help him up, she couldn’t help but chuckle at him playing along.  “You’ve been forgiven.” Throwing her a dazzling smile that lit up his whole face, he grabbed her hand and pulled himself up. Dusting himself off, and looking around to make sure that he hasn’t attracted unnecessary attention, Woohyun slightly jogged to keep up with the girl.

“Where shall we go?” She asked, looking up at him with big, innocent eyes.
“I was thinking… Ice cream?”
“Ice cream sounds good!”She replied excitedly.
“Then let’s go!”Grabbing her hand, he ran towards the ice cream stand, his heart beating real quick.
If he had turned to look at the girl beside him, he would’ve noticed her face was in a shade of beetroot red.

After getting ice cream, they sat down on a insolated, grassy patch facing the Han River, and quietly ate their ice cream. From time to time, Woohyun stole looks at the girl beside him. While eating, she had gotten a streak of ice cream over her cheek. Wanting to reach out his hand to brush it off, yet afraid of awkwardness, he couldn’t make a decision; instead, he twitched his right hand in frustration. Inwardly groaning at what a coward he was being, he finished up his ice cream in a huff and laid down on the soft grass to look at the sky.

“Hey,” he softly called out to her, his tone suddenly serious. “I have something to tell you.”
“What is it?”She sensed the seriousness in his tone and turned to look at him, unknowingly getting more ice cream around in the process. He turned to look at her, then quickly looked away, resisting the urge to kiss the ice cream off her face. He wanted to take things slow and treat her like how she should be treated, a lady. HIS lady.

He slightly pinched his thigh to brace himself and pluck up the courage, and he winced at the pinch. ‘Okay, that’s maybe a bit too much.’ He thought to himself. Meanwhile she was looking at him curiously, still eating her ice cream. ‘Am I with a crazy person right now? Should I make a run for it?’Were the exact thoughts to cross her mind at that moment. 

Using his hands to cover his face in embarrassment Woohyun groaned out loud. “Ahhh… Just… You know my fans call me NamGrease right?”
“Mmmm..”She nodded and looked at the Han River silently, wondering why he brought up the topic of his fans. She felt a tinge of jealousy towards them. Even though she was only a friend, she hoped that one day Woohyun would look at her a little differently, a little more, than his fans.
“I’m actually not as smooth as I think I am. When I’m right in front of the girl I like, yet I can’t confess. You know what I mean? Do you know that feeling?”He turned to look at her, an unreadable expression on her face.
‘Ah, so he has someone he likes…’she thought to herself, feeling a slight pinch in her heart. Gathering her senses, she replied, “Ah… So that’s what’s been troubling you! What’s there to be troubled about? Go for it! Fighting!”Making a fighting gesture with her hands, she turned to look at him with a bright smile plastered on her face.

Woohyun wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. He was subtly talking about her, hoping she’ll realize, yet he completely overlooked the fact that she was always so clueless and in her own world. Looking back at her, with a smile that made the sides of his eyes crinkle up, he replied, “Pabo-ya! It’s you!”
“Eh? me? ME?!- *cough cough cough*” She couldn’t finish her sentence as she choked on her ice cream.
Worried, he sat up and gently patted her back, hoping that it’ll soothe her, also taking the chance to pick up a napkin that she left on the grass and wiping the ice cream left on her cheek. She stopped coughing and looked up at the guy before her with a slightly puzzled expression. “But why me?”
 

His eyes twinkled in the sunlight, picking up her hand with two of his hands, he started his real confession. “Why not you? I can state a hundred and one reasons for me to fall in love with you. I believe in destiny, and I believe it was destiny that led me to you. It’s only you, and if it’s not you, it can’t be anyone else.”
“Tell me more.” Was all she said as she rested her head on his broad shoulders. Woohyun tensed up a little, not expecting that reaction, but he continued anyway.
“I like you even though you’re not my ideal girl, but you became the ideal girl, the only girl I wanted in my life. The only girl that I’m afraid to lose. In front of you, I’m afraid to do excessive aegyo, or be overly greasy with my words. Because you’re so important to me, I wanted to treat you preciously, differently from how I treat other girls.”He slowly s his arms around her shoulders, pulling her closer to him.
“But I like your aegyo and your greasyness.”Woohyun felt like his heart was about to burst as he smiled widely after hearing her confession. “Tell me more.” She said.
“I can tell you more if you’re willing to sit here for hours.” He chuckled.

And so, he continued to talk about how he fell for her, and he was not even halfway through when it became dark, and he realised the girl had fallen asleep on his shoulders, slightly open. As he looked down at her, he couldn’t help but feel the corners of his mouth turning up into a smile. At that moment, for Nam Woohyun, everything was perfect.
