Once Upon a Heartbreak
Almost (Status: Indefinite Hiatus)“One day, whether you
are 14,
28
or 65
you will stumble upon
someone who will start
a fire in you that cannot die.
However, the saddest,
most awful truth
you will ever come to find––
is they are not always
with whom we spend our lives.”
–The Awful Truth – Beau Taplin
Some of us are lucky enough to find that one person and some of are not. And then there are some of us who are lucky enough to find that one person only for fate to play its cruel tricks on us – I was one of those people. Fate brought us together, and it tore us apart. The time we spent together was one of the defining periods of my life and to this day I find myself unable to completely move on from it. But how can I when she was my first love; the love that one would subsequently compare all other loves to follow until one finds their last love – I have yet to do so. My friends tell me to move on, forget about her, and I want to but I don’t know how. And yet, so much time has passed and I’ve continued living my life with a scar that never fully healed.
Do I wish I had never met her, you ask? Since it would save me some heartache… But my answer is no. And for anyone who has truly been in love, they never regret irrespective of how it ended. No. Love is ALWA
