Smile

The Faithful Wife

Junghwa looked at Woohyun with big, round eyes. Her heart stopped for a moment and she couldn't breathe properly as her chest constricted in what seemed like pain and relief. She felt Sunggyu wrap an arm around her waist, pulling her closer to his side.

"Are you okay?" He asked her. Sunggyu smiled at Woohyun when he looked over towards the husband and wife, the two people that stood closest to him besides Myungsoo.

Woohyun flashed his smile that brought back memories to Junghwa as the nostalgia hit her like a wrecking ball. She noticed how his eyes showed shock and realization at the sudden sight of her after so long. After endless nights of not being able to hold her and whisper sweet nothings into her ears. Endless nights of staying up late and waking up in the middle of the night saying Junghwa's night. She right in front of him. She was right in front of him with her husband.

"Peachy," she replied to Sunggyu. "Just peachy," Junghwa flashed a smile at him when she turned her head to Sunggyu.

"We can go home if you would like," he looked at her and saw something he never did before. He knew, deep down, that there was old feelings in her coming out at the moment. He knew that it would happen when she and him would meet one day. He couldn't blame her. Sunggyu came in her life when everything was starting to glue itself together, but he wasn't the only one to blame. The ones to blame were her parents, in his opinion. They offered him her hand and he took the chance. He's been captivated by her ever since he first saw her at a party his family had hosted. Her beauty made his heart stop and how she loved the simpler things in life made it seem beautiful.

"I'm fine," she said softly making Sunggyu raise a brow at her. "I really am fine." Junghwa gave him a small peck on the cheek.

"Okay, you two," Myungsoo's voice interrupted the two's small moment together. "Enough with the disgusting pda already," he shuddered making Sunggyu scoff. "These two are--"

"Nice to see you again, Sunggyu," Woohyun smiled at him. "Junghwa," he choked out. Junghwa noticed how he swallowed the lump that formed in his throat.

"You guys know each other?" Hoya asked the trio as he held Haru in his arms. Junghwa nodded her head and watched as Woohyun looked at Haru with soft, kind eyes. "How?"

Junghwa froze for a moment. She opened and closed trying to figure out the right words to explain what happened to them. "We were friends," Woohyun answered with a small, sad smile. "Then she got married and stopped talking to me," he let out a dry chuckle.

"Wait," Sungjong interrupted. "Did you go to the wedding?" He asked him. Woohyun nodded his head. "Cause you look familiar," he said with scrutinizing eyes. Junghwa looked at Sungjong and noticed his eyes widen for a split second before they returned back to normal.

"Maybe we saw each other for a moment," Woohyun said but made it sound more as a question than a direct answer that he would like.

"Sit," Myungsoo said as he directed the attention elsewhere as he tried to make his new friend comfortable. "Do you want to eat something, drink anything?" He asked. Woohyun shook his head telling Myungsoo that he was fine.

Woohyun turned his attention discreetly towards Junghwa as she now was by a baby, which he presumed was Haru. She looked so much like her mother in his opinion. Maybe it was her big eyes that showed an innocence that he's never seen before and how her smile resembled her mothers. He couldn't help but think about their own future they planed two years ago. How Woohyun promised her a big, grand wedding to show off to the world the most beautiful girl that he has ever seen in his life. The one girl that he loves with his entire heart, the one who was and is his sun, the bright and morning star that woke up the world.

"Is this your daughter?" He asked as he got up from the sofa and sat on the ground besides Junghwa and her daughter who sat in her lap.

"Yep," Junghwa answered. Her lips tugged upwards in a smile as she played with her daughter in her lap. "Her name is Haru," she said softly as she looked over towards Woohyun who looked at Haru with a fondness she's seen before from him.

"Hi Haru," Woohyun said softly as he showcased his smile that made her heart beat faster in her chest. "Do you want to come and play with me?" He held his hands out towards Haru inviting her to come towards him. Haru turned to look at where the arms led to and she looked at Woohyun. A giggle escaped her cute, cherry pink lips as she held her own small arms out towards Woohyun who accepted her answer, bring her closer to him as he lifted her up in the air a little, making Junghwa's eyes widen.

"Nam," Junghwa whined. "Don't do that to my baby," she scolded quietly as she realized what she had called him.

Woohyun let out a hearty chuckle as Haru began to laugh. "She likes it," he said as he placed her in his lap as he made silly faces at her. "Don't you, Haru?" Woohyun began to tickle her stomach which made her burst out in little fits of giggles making Junghwa smile at Woohyun.

She knew he loved kids. He's always wanted a family of his own one day. He wanted a daughter with Junghwa and the two would name her Haru and a boy who'd they name Joon Myeon. She remembered when they said that they would have a wedding and they would start their family of four with their two kids-- one boy and one girl. And how Woohyun said they would live in a house fit to Junghwa's taste. One that would be suitable for their two kids to live in and maybe even have a kitchen where she and her mother-in-law would be able to cook together so she can learn to be a better wife for him, but that never happened. It'll never happen.

Junghwa watched Woohyun play with her daughter as she momentarily forgot about Sunggyu and all of the other guys in the room. Because with all of her attention placed on Woohyun, she couldn't help but smile-- that beautiful, breathtaking smile that Woohyun and Sunggyu fell in love with.
