Final

Sometimes

Sometimes, you have to let people go because you know that their happiness lie with another person; another person who isn’t you.

“Chanyeol!” Baekhyun shouted as he approached his beloved Park Chanyeol. He was greeted back with a smile.

“Baek.”

Hearing his name leave his beloved’s mouth was enough to give him shivers on his spine. A light tint of red crept through his face; he’ll never get used to that.

“Chanyeol, want to go somewhere this weekend? It’s out anniversary!” The older beamed out as he clumsily wrapped his arm around his boyfriend’s. He might’ve not noticed it, but a slight dash of pain flashed on the taller man’s face before smiling. “It’s this weekend already? That was…fast.”

He soon looked away, getting into a trance that he has been entering these past few days. It bothered Baekhyun; who seemed to have noticed everything about his beloved’s expressions.

Well, he never once let him out of his sight. He has been watching him for ages.

The older unconsciously held Chanyeol’s arm tighter, feeling a sharp pain on his chest.

“Baek?” Chanyeol asked, surprised by his lover’s actions. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” Baekhyun brushed it off as usual.

“I see.” Is what Chanyeol would reply usually.

He never asks why.

“Hey, Yeol. Let’s meet in the park that we first went to this Saturday. I’ll be waiting, okay?” Baekhyun said before releasing his hold on Chanyeol before dashing off to class, to make sure that his lover won’t refuse his invitation.

He thinks I don’t know. He thinks that I never notice. I saw them—the texts, the calls, the meet-ups behind my back. I’m just pretending to not notice. I don’t want this relationship to end. I’ve been looking at him all my life, I don’t want anyone to take him away from me.

Baekhyun shook his head. “Chanyeol chose me. I’m not handing him over, Kai.” He mumbled to himself, declaring a war that he knows he’ll never win.

Saturday morning. Baekhyun finished preparing and headed out. He brought a small box, containing two rings. He smiled at the thought of wearing similar rings with the one that he loves.

They were supposed to meet up at 10am. Baekhyun glanced at the big clock behind him.

12:30pm.

“Maybe Chanyeol woke up late.” He said to himself to distract himself from the pain that he was feeling. He looked at his cellphone to see any text message or missed calls from Chanyeol but alas, there was none.

He felt like crying. Chanyeol won’t do this to him. Not now. Not during their anniversary.

Baekhyun finally decided to visit Kai, feeling in his gut that his lover is there.

Chanyeol entered the room, and there was Kai, waiting for him in bed.

“Happy anniversary.” Kai said with a smile.

“Happy anniversary.” Chanyeol replied, smiling too.

He soon frowns after seeing his reflection on Kai’s window.

Have I ever smiled like this in front of Baek?

Chanyeol knew that he was hurting his lover, the closest person to him after Kai. But he couldn’t help it.

He loves Baekhyun. It’s just sad that he loves Kai more.

“Kai, I love you.” Chanyeol whispered softly as he planted a small kiss on the younger’s forehead.

“I love you too, hyung.”

He had to run. He needs to get away from them. From Kai. From Chanyeol.

His suspicions were all cleared now.

Chanyeol never loved him, he has always loved Kai.

He couldn’t take it anymore. He sat by the bench on the park. There were only a few people there, but he didn’t care. All that he knows right now that he was betrayed, betrayed by the person he loved the most. He didn’t even bother to wipe his tears, he let them flow freely from his eyes. The pain on his chest intensifies as time passed by.

Sometimes, you have to let people go because you know that their happiness lies with another person; another person who isn’t you.

Chanyeol gave another kiss to Kai before leaving. It was time for him to meet up with Baekhyun and end their relationship. As soon as he opened the door, he found a box on the ground.

Curious of it, he picked it up and opened it. He soon find himself down on his knees, tears were flowing from his eyes.

The box contained two rings. He felt guilty that his relationship with Baekhyun has to end this way.

In the box, there were two different names on each ring and small letter.

Chanyeol and Kai.

Yeollie.

Be happy.

please put up an angst tag. I dislike angst and with the description I could guess it had angst, but since I didn't see the angst tag, I though there would be a happy ending.
