Foreword
A young girl, no older than five, sat there in horror in the corner of the room. She held on tightly to her teddy bear, fearing what stood before her.
There was a man making his way towards her. He wore a long coat, and a hat that covered his facial features. He appeared large compared to the small girl. In his hand was a knife, stained red with blood.
"Now listen here, girl." he choked in a hoarse voice. "I killed your parents, and if you don't keep quiet about this little incident, I'll kill you too." he kneeled down to meet her terrified eyes. Slowly, he brought his free hand to touch her face, smearing it in blood. "Promise me, okay dear?" he laughed, removing his hand from her face. The girl could feel the warm blood on her cheek. The blood of her parents no doubt. It made tears stream down her face.
Just then, the sound of sirens could be heard in the distance, signaling for the man to leave the bloodied home. He broke the window to the backyard and leapt out, but not before smiling at the girl in the corner.
