"You're serious."

A pin could've dropped in that room and it would have reveberated like a clap of thunder. But it didn't, and the room remained silent. Instead, Yixing chewed nervously on his fist, and nodded, his eyes stuck firmly to the ground.

Lu Han leaned back on his arms, breath knocked out of his chest.

"You're serious," he repeated.

Another nod. This time, Yixing looked up, his lip caught between his teeth. "I...'m sorry?" he said.

Lu Han's heart had caught in his throat, his head was whirling. They'd been friends, and then best friends for years now, but this was something entirely different, something in a completely different ball park, something he'd never expected, something...he'd always wanted. He swallowed, his mouth suddenly dry.

"Idiot," Lu Han said. "Why are you apologising?"

"Because...it's so sudden?" Yixing scratched at the back of his neck, his gaze going back to the floor.

Lu Han's heart pounded in his chest. "Idiot," he said. He shook his head. Slowly, he crawled forward, while Yixing continued to stare at the floor. Chuckling quietly, Lu Han caught Yixing's chin in his fingers.

"Idiot," he repeated, while Yixing blinked at him, like a deer caught in head lights. Quietly, he pressed his lips ever so softly against Yixing's. Yixing stilled under him, and Lu Han pulled away, afraid he'd done something wrong after all, but Yixing was smiling, a grin spread across his features. Lu Han shook his head again.

"You should've done that sooner," he said.

Yixing glanced away, swallowing. "I know," he said. "Because you're leaving."

"Let's make the best of it," Lu Han said. He grinned, catching Yixing's hands in his own. "Even if it's short, let's do it all."

Because, he knew as well as Yixing did, that this would all end when he left. When summer ended.
