Prologue

Meet Me at the Diner

Prologue

And his eyes threatened to spill bitter, selfish tears...—

Dusting off the bookshelves with his hand, Minseok pulled his hand away and stepped back, observing the now, nearly empty room. The sheets were pulled from the bed, all of his sketchbooks and other books were piled into boxes, and a majority of his other belongings were already on their way to his dorm in China.

Just as he was about to turn around, a pale, lavender color caught his eye in between the bookshelves. Stooping down, Minseok slipped his hand into the gap and pulled out a leather bound book, the edges collecting a thin layer of dust.

“How could I forget this?” he mumbled as he stood up, brushing his fingertips across the smooth cover.

The book was thin, perhaps containing around a hundred papers or even less. It looked almost new, showing that it wasn’t used often. Across the cover of the journal in light gray, block letters was the name Youngkyu. Just reading that name caused his heart to flutter with joy yet sting with pain, and his eyes threatened to spill bitter, selfish tears across the soft, flexible leather.

Sitting down in his desk chair, Minseok heaved a deep sigh, setting the diary down on the desk. His hands gently rubbed his face to relieve the tension and to slow down the wave of memories that was washing over him just by looking at the book.

His cell phone rang, jolting him out of his thoughts as he scrambled to pick up the call.

            “Hello?”

“Hey, I’ll be at your house in two hours to help you load up the rest of your things.”

            “Okay, thanks, Jongdae.”

“No problem… Are you sure about this, Minseok?”

He let out a shaky breath before answering. “Yeah… I am.”

Minseok could hear Jongdae sigh on the other side of the line before he said, “See you in a few hours then.”

“Bye.” He set down his phone onto the desk next to her lavender diary. Looking back down at it, Minseok brushed over the cover lightly, as if he wasn’t sure if he could actually touch it or not. And really, he didn’t know if he should. What would happen if he read all of the contents in the diary again? Would all of the emotions strike him as strong as they did before? Would he become selfish and fight to see her again?

With all of these thoughts rushing through his head, Minseok subconsciously flipped open the cover, revealing the first page: a nearly blank, white sheet with her name written in sharp letters at the bottom. Seeing her name on the first page was enough to let Minseok know that he breached the barrier between him and his suppressed memories of her.

As his mind wavered with the burden of the past, his heart pushed forward, causing him to flip to the next page, to where the story, their story, began.

Chapter 1: Hey there!^^
First of all I want to thank you for writing a Minseok/OC Fanfiction. I noticed there are barely any FFs that revolve around our lovely dage, which aren't Xiuhan or XiuChen stories. I don't have anything against these ships, but I think it's still nice to read a well-written OC story.
Like yours, for example, even though you just started writing, I already started squealing lol.The description and the prologue were all very intriguing and made me curious and almost impatient for Youngkyu and Minseok's story, but as an former writer myself, I know that those things sometimes need time.So take your time and don't pressure yourself to much :).
I remember instantly subscribing to your story after I read your description.
It sort of reminded me of Ra.D's "Thank you" MV. Have you by any chance seen it? If not, make sure to watch it,if you have some spare time. The MV is full of fluff and probably one of the best Drama Music Video I've seen in a while .The song itself is beautiful and sweet.
So,I'm usually not the best reviewer, since english isn't my mother-tongue and I have a tendency to ramble or to repeat myself in one way or the other, but I try to leave a line or two whenever you upload a chapter and whenever I can, because I'm truly looking forward what you have in store for this FF (especially your explanation of that mysterious title of it ;)).
I can tell you are an experienced writer, so I know this story will be great.^^
To put it in a nutshell, I really enjoyed your choice of the main male lead, the appearance of neatfreak!xiumin (Of course,he would dust off the bookshelves..I mean he is the cleanest member among EXO ) and nostalgic!xiumin, the fact that Youngkyu's diary is lavender-colored,the fact that Jongdae offered to help move his Hyung's stuff (What a sweet and thoughtful dongsaeng! :))or to put it simple...I really like your prologue :).(See, what I mean with rambling? xD)
