Branded ・ As ・ y o u r sChapter Eleven First Flutter
It was typical that when we arrived at school, we were late.
Or at least, I was, anyway. Dara somehow had managed to shove all her shopping bags in her locker and sprint to class in the time it took me just to directly run to my classroom. And mine was closer. My punishment, on my fourth day of school, no less, was to stay during lunch and help rake leaves at the back of the gym. It wasn't so much the raking of the leaves that bothered me, but how close I was working to where Yoona had attacked me. From her I had seen nothing since being at school, and in truth I was kinda glad to be skipping lunch, since I knew she'd be there. Dara may think Myungsoo could handle the situation, but I knew otherwise. A little warning off Myungsoo wasn't going keep her away, it would just make her more determined, more hateful.
By bringing it up with her at all, he wasn't really doing me any favours but at this point I was at a dead end. Petty school bullies and annoying guys I could handle. But revengeful demoness' and murderous demon hunters? Yeah, not so much. I was so far out of my element at this stage in my life that I was close to cracking. New house, new school, new country and now all this?
It was a wonder I was keeping it together at all.
"You know, pushing them around like that hardly constitutes as raking."
I jumped and dropped the rake, stumbling back in surprise with my hand flying to my racing heart.
"Oh, so now you're scared." Myungsoo frowned, pushing off the gym building wall to head towards me.
I watched silently as he bent down and picked up the fallen rake and held it out to me. I took it slowly.
"Are you always this observant? I've been stood there for the last ten minutes and you never noticed."
"Not everyone is interested in spending their time looking for you." I noted dryly, turning my back on him to rake the pile I had been working on.
"Now that's not true and we both know it. Everyone is interested in me." I rolled my eyes, a motion lost on him since had my back turned, but I could feel his eyes burning into me.
I stepped away purposely.
"I've had a word with Yoona."
"Oh?" I answered, trying to sound disinterested.
"Yup. She said she didn't mean to hurt you, she was only having a little fun."
"A little fun?" I demanded, whirling around to face him. "Do you call beating the out of somebody, throwing them against concrete and trying to break their back a little fun?"
"Woah." He grinned, holding up his hands in a surrender gesture. My heart thumped a little harder at the sight of his dazzling smile. "I never said it's what I thought. Her words, not mine."
"Whatever." I sighed, turning around and carrying on raking. "I couldn't care less what she says."
"Hmmm..." He mumbled.
Then suddenly his hands were covering mine and I froze as I felt his chest brush against my back.
"You're not doing a very good job of this, Little Girl."
My breath hitched as his tickled the back of my neck close to my ear, sending chills down my spine and causing my stomach to tingle. Slowly he released my grip on the rake and stepped back, taking it with him. I stayed still for a moment, gathering my thoughts before turning back towards him, where he was raking leaves like a damn pro.<
