Branded ・ As ・ y o u r sChapter Nine First Explanations
I wanted answers.
Not just from Myungsoo, who had so far comforted me and helped me into a taxi back to his apartment to get cleaned up, but also from Dara, who was hovering around me as I walked in, looking every bit the guilty best friend. I wasn't sure how to feel. Scared? Worried? Betrayed? My emotions hadn't seemed to have caught up with the events, so instead of feeling how I knew I should, all I could concentrate on was feeling safe. And with Myungsoo's arm supporting my waist, I felt more than safe. I felt protected. Which, considering what I now knew about him was absurd.
Clearly I'd hit my head harder than I thought.
"Oh Hana." Dara whispered, approaching me carefully after Myungsoo had helped me onto their sofa. "I'm so sorry."
I smiled, though it hurt to do so. Lifting my hand to my face I touched my lips gently and cringed at the sting it caused.
"Do I look awful?" I asked lightly.
She shook her head, her eyes full of tears, but it was Myungsoo who answered.
"You don't look half as bad as you could. What were you thinking, meeting her alone like that? She could have killed you."
It seemed his kind, gentle attitude had ended the moment he had dumped me on the sofa. Back was the harsh, cold Myungsoo I had come to know.
"She's your friend." I reminded him. "I didn't realise your warning extended to both your enemies and your friends!"
"It extends to everyone!" He shouted, glaring at me from across the room. "I told you not to get involved with us and you didn't listen!"
"Maybe next time you can be a little more specific with your warnings. Maybe if you had said; 'Don't go near my friends, they're demons' I would have known to avoid her!"
"Don't do this now." Dara begged him, coming to sit beside me. "She's hurt!"
"I can see that." He growled, running his hands through his hair.
"I need answers." I implored Dara. "I need to know what exactly is going on."
"I told you. We're demons." Myungsoo reminded me like I was stupid.
"Yes, I remember that part, but I mean... What do you guys do?"
"We're students?" I gritted my teeth, becoming frustrated with his sarcastic attitude.
"Do you have any powers? Do you have horns... Or tails? Breathe fire? Drink the blood of s? Steal people's souls?"
Myungsoo began to laugh at my questions and I shot him a glare.
"We're stronger than Humans." Dara answered. "And we have better reflexes and reactions. Our minds hold more memory and we have horns when we get angry enough, though no tail. Oh, and we move super fast... But no, no breathing fire and stealing souls."
"Fast enough so you appear like a blur?" I clarified. Dara nodded. "So that's what I saw when Yoona vanished..." I muttered.
"That was me, saving your sorry behind." Myungsoo grumbled.
"Anything else?" I asked curiously.
"What, isn't all that enough?" Myungsoo scoffed.
I chose to ignore him.
"We're part wolf." Dara coughed, looking nervously as my reaction.
"Werewolves?" I frowned. "I thought you said you were demons?"
"What Humans think of as werewolves are actually a type of demon." Myungsoo clarified, sounding bored. "We're not called werewolves. We're called Hound Demons."
"Can you turn into wolves whenever you want?"
"Not all of us can." Dara smiled. "Myungsoo can, because he's super powerful, and I can, but I don't have great control over it... I can only do it when I'm feeling extreme emotions. Others can only when the moons at its most powerful, or when it's coming up to being full."
"Wow..." I whistled, taking it all in. "Then Yoona, can she transform?" Dara shook her head.
"No, and neither can JiYong. There's only a few who can."
"And he's one of them?" I glanced towards Myungsoo, who smirked smugly at me. I huffed. As if he needed anything else to inflate his giant ego. "If Yoona attacked me, does that mean I'm gonna change into one of you guys?" I asked worriedly.
"Hounds can't be made. We're born." Dara assured me..
I nodded, and recalled something YoonAahad said.
"Yoona... She implied something was going on between me and that , something about my smell or something." I pointed towards Myungsoo. "Why would she even think that?"
"Because-"
"Don't you dare." He warned her, cutting her off.
Dara stood up and balled her hands into fists, her expression furious.
"She has a right to know, Oppa! After everything she's been through, after what we did-"
"What you did?" I looked between them both. "What did you do?"
Silence followed my answer as Myungsoo stared Dara down before turning his blazing eyes on me. I flinched under his accusing expression.
"I healed you." He spat, his voice laced with
