A Mother's Love

Two little girls were sitting on a porch swing, with their respective dolls on their lap, as the swing gently moved back and forth.
“Yoongie, I feel bad.”
“Why?”
“I made Heechul cry at school today.” Seohyun averted her gaze down to Keroro, pouting her lower lip. “I didn’t mean to, but I was just being
honest.”
Yoona looked curiously at Seohyun, wondering how could the always-nice Seohyun made someone cry.
“He showed me Mr. Wiggles. He was so proud of it, but I told him it looks like a small poopy,” Seohyun recalled, slightly shuddering at the
thought.
Yoona let out a small laugh, amused at Seohyun’s reaction to Mr. Wiggles. She had already seen it once before, but she remembered it made
her curious about one thing... “Hyunnie, how come only boys could have Mr. Wiggles?”
Seohyun shrugged her shoulders, caressing Keroro’s head. “I don’t know, but my appa said we should be glad that we’re girls, ‘cause Mr.
Wiggles is ewwie.”
“You mean… Mr. Wiggles has lots of cooties?” Yoona gasped, bewildered at the newfound fact.
“Hmmm…” Seohyun stared back at Yoona, uncertain of the answer, but then nodded her head. “I think so.”
Yoona wrinkled her nose in disdain. Mentally, she was crossing out Heechul, Minho, and Suho from her list of playmates since they all have
those nasty cooties that she hated.
“Yoongie, Keroro said that we should play now. He’s getting bored.”
“But, Hyunnie… Brownie is sleeping.” Yoona bit her lip, reluctant at the idea of playing. “Come, you can even hear him snoring.” She
motioned for Seohyun to come closer to Brownie.
Seohyun brought her ear in front of Yoona’s toy and immediately shook her head in disapproval. “Your Brownie always sleeps. He’s so lazy.”
Yoona giggled. “I know, but I still love him,” she proudly said, “because appa said that Brownie is similar to my Sica umma.”
A mountain of wrapped gifts sat on the carpet floor in middle of the living room. Jessica encircled it twice, checking thoroughly for any tear or
dirt on the wrappers. She wanted it to look perfect, spotless of any damages. After all, the presents symbolized her love for them. Satisfied, she
nodded to herself as a small smile made its way onto her face.
Jessica walked over to the kitchen, grabbing a random wine bottle from the wine kitchen cabinet and a glass hanging from it, and took them
with her to the living room. She sat on the black antique lounge chair, setting the bottle of wine and the glass on the coffee table.
Having poured herself some wine, Jessica sighed and leaned her back against the chair, letting her eyes close in relaxation. She brought the
wine glass to her lips and took a sip. An ordinary person would find it extremely bitter, but for Jessica, it tasted empty - just like how she was
feeling for the past few years. Wine was her sole companion to the cold and lonely nights she spent, a confidant whom she poured her problems
into, a loyal friend who was always there for her.
Jessica chuckled bitterly, wishing that the wine was her husband, who treated her as if she was a mere stranger during her yearly visits to the
village. It hurt like hell, piercing her skin, curling her innards with a sharp knife each time her husband glared at her with such distaste. The
sight of Yuri's obvious displeasure with her presence was always too painful for Jessica that she wished nothing, but the ground beneath her to
open wide and let herself fall to the deep and dark abyss of despair.
She knew exactly the reason why Yuri ceased communication with her? Why Yuri didn’t want anything to do with her? Why Yuri hated her?
Jessica did left her family for a dream… A dream that Jessica had the moment Yoona came into her life.
