★☆ ; Key and the 100 Days Deal

Description

Loud and full of arrogance, Kim Kibum had always thought that he nothing to worry about in life. But what happens when everything he's lived for had come to a screeching halt in a blink of an eye?

Foreword

Prologue

“I wanted my coffee Americano! Is it that difficult to understand? What? Did your mother drop you on your head when you were a baby or something? Ugh, just get away from me. The sight of you is making me sick.”

I waved my hand away at the incompetent productions assistant, who was bowing repeatedly enough to break his hipbones and muttering something along the lines of “I’m sorry, sir. This won’t happen again.” before I shoved the paper cup of coffee back at him roughly enough to which some coffee has spilled down his shirt. I don’t care too much if it was too hot or that he’s now got a brown stain dripping down his imitation Ralph Lauren polo shirt. I asked for Americano and he gave me Italiano. There’s a difference, you know.

As soon as the young (highly unprofessional) man is whisking away to try and get me the right cup of coffee, I yell out in frustration, “YAH! Where is my assistant?!”

From behind, I heard our manager’s own assistant run up to me.

“Oh, Key-ah,” she said quickly. “Your assistant, Ji Hyun, couldn’t make it today. But we can try to help you out and find a substitute assistant if you wish.”

I shook my head furiously. “NO! I want Ji Hyun here right now! What could that lazy girl be doing right now to make her miss this very important day at work?”

Manager-hyung’s assistant looked a bit uneasy and bit her lip, but I gave her a look because I honestly wouldn’t want to wait for about a million years just to get an answer from her. I have better things to care about.

“She had a death in the family, Key-goon,” she said softly. “She’s attending the funeral today.”

“Oh,” I replied. “What a pity.”

“She’ll be back here tomorrow, though.”

“No, that won’t be necessary,” I told her, noticing that look on her face relaxing.

She smiled. “Oh, I knew you had a little sympathy in you, Key. Everyone keeps saying you’re quite awful but honestly, I knew you’d understand – ”

I raise a hand, making her shut up. I continued. “No, that won’t be necessary because she’s coming back to work now. Call her up. She can pay her respects later. The dead stay dead forever anyway.”

The assistant looked a bit confused, but as you can tell by now, that doesn’t concern me too much so I lean back into my seat and pop my Ipod earphones into my ear. When I noticed her still standing there staring back at me, I removed the earphones.

“Well? What are you doing? Your phone can’t call her itself. It’s too cheap to have that kind of feature.”

She looked like she was about to cry, but sighed anyway and dug through her jean pocket for her phone, and with that I returned back to my Ipod.

The sad thing about it all was that that stupid productions assistant didn’t come back with my coffee.
