Beautiful Girl

Hyomin wasn’t really good at English. Sure she knew a few basic words but she was far from fluent and couldn‘t understand much. Despite her being inarticulate, that didn’t stop her from liking and appreciating some English songs. Even if she didn’t understand most if not all the words, she can still appreciate the beat, melody, vocals and over all sound of the song.

After all,

Music is universal and has no barriers….

And that includes language barriers.

She remembers that a few years back, that she really liked a particular popular English song which had a catchy beat.

Back then, She’d try to sing along with the song every time it played on the radio or whenever she felt like it.

“Try” being the keyword, considering her inability to say or pronounce the lyrics.

In the end she’d settle for humming the melody when she reached the parts she couldn’t sing along to which is,
truthfully, most of the song.

She also didn’t really understand the lyrics aside from the words “Beautiful” and “Girl” which were also conveniently the title of the song.

Whether it was because she didn’t care or was just lazy to do it, she couldn’t remember. But back then, she never really bothered to look up the meaning or Korean translation of the lyrics.

That is until recently when she heard the song being played on the radio again while going to her next schedule for the day.

The words ”Beautiful Girl” reminded her too much of a particular blonde haired short woman, that the song couldn’t help but just get stuck in her head and she had no choice but to finally look up the Korean translation of the lyrics.

Imagine her surprise when she felt that she could actually relate some parts of the song to her relationship concerning a certain blonde haired bunny.

Most especially a part of the chorus that really summarized her feelings towards “that person“.
So even if she still couldn’t sing the whole song, she was able to commit to memory that part of the song and even sing it in English.

That's why it'll never work
You'll have me suicidal, suicidal

….She’d sing out, sometimes softly and secretly or loudly and proudly whenever the song reached that part while she listened to it on her ipod with her headphones on, which was a lot nowadays.
So basically it was only a matter of time till someone would catch her singing and ask her about it.

“You seem to really like the song. You‘ve been singing the same part over and over again for the past 20 minutes” Sunny said while she hit Hyomin lightly on the shoulder which surprised the T-ara member.

“Ackk!….” yelped Hyomin.

“Yah! Sunny-ah! Don’t sneak up on me! You really startled me!”

“Hey, I didn’t sneak up on you! I’ve been beside you the whole time ever since I came to greet you 20 minutes ago, which....by the way, you would have heard and noticed me if you weren’t busy singing with your headphones on. I bet you even got the song on repeat.”

Embarrassed by her obliviousness and the truth to the statement, Hyomin apologized a few times while bowing her head with a flustered face to her.

Sunny didn’t feel bad about being ignored though.

What she said was just really for good humor. She truthfully found the way that Hyomin was singing and bobbing her head to the song cute….okaaay… She thought it was really cute.

It was the reason why she didn’t realize that she already spent 20 minutes admiring the brunette and she finally decided to do something about it as soon as she stepped out of her stupor.

Plus, there was this nagging suspicion that was eating Sunny in the twenty minutes spent while listening and watching the other girl sing that she just needed to confirm.

So she really couldn’t help herself when she literally made Hyomin’s heart skip a few beats when she looked at the other straight into the eyes with an intense stare and said,

“You know,

Hypothetically speaking….

If someone thought that I
was way too beautiful
That's why it'll never work
And I'll have them suicidal, suicidal
When I say it's over…

I’d tell them that it’ll still hypothetically work out
Because I find that person way too beautiful as well and
I’d never make them suicidal because I’d never say it’s over. “

She finished hoping to get a point across to the other.

Hyomin gulped. Before she started to say,

“Sunny-ah…

Hypothetically then, if a person…probably that person, told you that they felt that away for the longest time but couldn’t help but still feel strongly about you and confessed to you that they…ahh…ehh…loved you and wanted to see if they can give it a try…that is of course if you felt the same….Which is…you know…a hypothetical situation.”

Hyomin finished while trying so hard not to look away from the other as she couldn’t help but fidget under the other’s poker face.

“Well, then I’d tell them that I’d loved that because I feel the same way.
Hypothetically that is.” Sunny said as a soft smile broke out of her poker face.

With her resolve building, Hyomin took a deep breath.

“Sunny-ah, do you mean it?”

“Yes, I mean it.”

“Sunny-ah…I don’t want this to be hypothetical anymore….I don’t want us to be hypothetical…because I…what I feel for you is never and will never be hypothetical.”

“Hyomin…“ Sunny carefully said her name before she continued

“This isn’t hypothetical anymore is it?”

“No. It isn’t. This is…real…This is real.”

“Say it then.”

“Sunny-ah…Saranghae…

…..I love you…

…..I really love you.”

“Good…because I love you too. Hyomin.”

Epilogue

Sunny:You know…Hypothetically this is the part where you kiss me.

Hyomin: (face turning red) !!! EhhH?! Sunny-ah!!

Sunny: Never mind. I’ll kiss you instead.

Sunny then grabs the helpless Hyomin and gives her a passionate kiss which the later soon returned with the same fervor.
