It was almost 3PM and I was sitting back at my house ready to immerse myself in the homework that would be due Monday. Chemistry notes, English project, Biology notes, Math homework. I hadn’t even touched it since I’d been whisked away to the party on Friday night right after school, and then my parents arranged this stupid date thing with the Wu’s. I mean, I had a little fun, but if I could pick between hanging out with all those boys and Wu Fan, and doing my homework, I’d definitely pick my homework. It was just so much more important to me than carousing with a bunch of chaebol sons which is exactly what Exo was. They were fun and entertaining to be with, but I have priorities.    I opened my Chemistry textbook. We were already finishing Chapter 2 and it was the beginning of week one. College classes were definitely much more fast paced than high school. I began highlighting, and writing, completely immersed in the textbook. An hour later, I was done. Stretching out my arms, I went downstairs to get a snack. “Wu Fan probably bought you popcorn at the theater and you’re already eating again? If you want to keep that figure, you shouldn’t snack so much.” my mom said as she walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water. She was planning another charity event. “Wu Fan didn’t buy me popcorn though.” I stated. If I made him look bad, maybe she wouldn’t force me to hang out with him. “Ahh, that’s right. He took you out for ice cream and bubble tea.” she said without missing a heartbeat. How did she know? “Already going on secret dates, are we?” she lifted an eyebrow before laughing. “No, I know some of his friends and I thought it would be more fun to talk with them, than sit in a boring cold movie theater with an awkward person I barely know.” I said, slightly peeved. I walked out with a plate of fruits that had been pre cut and chilled in the refridgerator.    Sitting back down at my desk, I opened the English project packet we had been given. The questions she had given us were in Korean, and we had to translate them to English, then answer them in English. As I looked over the questions, I realized I knew all of these already just from English class in high school and what our private English tutor had taught us when we were living in Japan a few years ago. It was illegal to have private English teachers here in Korea. Well, let’s get this list of things translated.    “What is your name?” Kim Na Eun “How old are you?” 18 “Where are you from?” Seoul, South Korea “What is your nationality?” Korean “What languages do you speak?” Korean, Japanese, and a little English “How many people are in your household?” Including myself, 5. “What kinds of things do you like to do?” I like to study medicine and science...and play piano. “Do you have a pet?” No. “What is your favorite color?” Pink. “What is your favorite food?” Chicken Alfredo.   I answered all the questions for Kris, but I was sure he had a different set of questions, or at least some questions that were different. Apparently, the point of this project was to learn to use a dictionary and online resources to figure out the questions, and then to answer them. We were supposed to learn more about these phrases throughout the semester. I wondered about Lu Han. He seemed so mysterious since he was Chinese, and almost no one knew anything about him. His father too, had never mentioned his son, and had kept him under wraps to an extent and I wanted to know more about him. I was looking forward to asking him these questions on Monday.
