How It All Started, part two

Oh My Goodness! I Fell in Love With Author-nim

HOW IT ALL STARTED part2

________________________________________________________________________

“I have problems,” SungYeol mumbled before he let his head hit the bathroom stall’s door.

How did he end up with that conclusion? Well, to explain that we need to go back to his last Friday when – after finding out who his favourite writer, a.k.a Lkimnit, was – he spent his whole night looking at the freshman’s blog until his eyes weren’t able to keep open by themselves. At some point he passed out in his bed.

SungYeol couldn’t blame the people that thought he either had too much free time or unbalanced priorities.

Not content with that slightly obsessive night, SungYeol used, not only his Saturday but Sunday too, to read all the small post, notes, tags from Lkimnit’s Tumblr and obviously re-read his most treasured fanfictions imagining what Kim MyungSoo would’ve thought or felt as he wrote them. How did he even got inspired to write all that?

There is no need to say that SungYeol skipped the mature fanfictions. The blush from his face and the awkward – and not so innocent –  sensation that emanated from his body were too notorious for Hoya who was kind enough to let his old friend invade his cramped dorm for the weekend.

So, knowing those facts, one would’ve taught the unusual craziness ended there, but no. SungYeol, subconsciously, had other plans when he found himself following the called writer from a fair distance in one of the halls of the university’s third building that Monday morning.

Before his first period started, SungYeol had found out some curious stuff about the freshman, starting from his career – it wasn’t software engineering like he had first thought but political science – and that he was way too familiar with the lady from the building’s cafe. It seemed his ‘usual’ for breakfast consisted of melon bread and strawberry milk.

Now Sungyeol had no doubt, MyungSoo had a sweet tooth.

He could’ve found out more about the younger male but he had to run to his first class that had started twenty minutes ago – class that was all the way down the first building.

While Mrs. Kang wasted her saliva, SungYeol’s mind was busy remembering all the pictures of macarons, cakes in jar and other sweet desserts he had seen in Lkimnit’s Tumblr. Who would’ve thought MyungSoo was that simple? Well, he did know Lkimnit was a simple person, but still. It was funny how one could know much about another person without even sharing a word.

God bless the internet.

The good humor, courtesy of his idolized writer, got evaporated when he had to move to his next class. International legal studies. He wasn’t going to lie, SungYeol seriously liked that class – even though he wanted to be a public defender – but the thought of sharing it with WooHyun wasn’t that appealing. Not anymore.

The Friday night SungYeol spent looking (surely not stalking) at Lkimnit’s blog, WooHyun – as he had advised – didn’t appear. When he woke up in the evening the next day, his roommate was nowhere to be seen. There wasn’t even a post-it or a text message, nothing. Nada.

That had been the reason why SungYeol  took his iPad and invaded his childhood friend’s small bedroom.

It was obvious WooHyun was running away from the dorm because SungYeol was there. The tall sophomore could almost bet WooHyun had gone to his parent’s home or a friend’s place in need to get free from, well, SungYeol’s presence.

He couldn’t say it didn’t hurt to see the place without WooHyun. Not when he was used to see the older man inside doing his projects or just wasting his time doing useless, non-transcendental activities that lacked in effort. Cooking some experimented food for them or just fighting over stupid stuff like the way his care products weren’t in their place.

As SungYeol thought more about it, he noticed how close they actually were. So freaking close. How could he suddenly get used to not seeing WooHyun everyday? Seriously, who could do that? Damnit, was this going to last forever or was it just a phase WooHyun was going through?

His stomach curled in a nervous way when he listened to WooHyun’s laugh from outside the classroom.

An instant wish came to SungYeol’s mind, to see his friend with a tired expression on his face, something that could tell him that WooHyun was actually regretting what he said the other day but that wish crumbled when he saw the perfectly carved smirk on WooHyun’s lips as he entered the classroom accompanied by another student. It wasn’t fake.

Their eyes met, and what seemed eternity to SungYeol was in fact some moments before WooHyun lazily raised his hand to wave at him with an awkward smile before he turned back to the other classmate.

SungYeol blinked once, twice.

That was it? That? After they didn’t see each other for the whole weekend, that was the only thing WooHyun was going to do? Not even waste his saliva to say a half-assed ‘hi’?

After blatantly staring at WooHyun for twenty minutes and not receiving a single glance, SungYeol diverted his attention to his notebook where he decided to erase his messed up thoughts while writing some BleuBuster’s impressive lyrics.

Not even MoonSoo’s creative lines and BooHyun’s metaphorical raps were enough to help him forget the man sitting on the other side of the classroom.

What the heck was WooHyun actually thinking? Had he even thought about them over the weekend? The older college student just opened his mouth to say everything that bothered him about their relationship but he never stayed to actually talk things out. WooHyun disappeared from the dorm leaving SungYeol with confusion and anger. Were they actually fighting? Because this fight wasn’t like any of their other fights that usually got fixed with some chicken. What was there to fix? And if it was a fight, WooHyun would’ve either ignored him when their eyes met or walk to his place. Not give that impersonal wave!

Was WooHyun really asking for space? And how much space?

He didn’t want to accept it but SungYeol could only compare this fight, thing, whatever they were having with the ones couples had before breaking up. But this surely wasn’t a fight… right?

SungYeol groaned at his persistent female mentality – why wasn’t he like Hoya? – before he went back to his notebook to do the manly things he did with it. He never started to doodle the BleuBuster’s logo since his eyes caught sight of a certain freshman walking by the university’s plaza.

WooHyun’s face got erased from his mind as his curious eyes started to follow, once again, the tall figure. Lkimnit. His good humor floated back and bursted when he saw how MyungSoo missed a step and fell. Acting as if nothing happened, yet with slighter wider eyes, the freshman kept walking.

SungYeol got several judging gazes and a warning from the professor as he tried hard to control his scandalous laugh. When he managed to catch his breath, he noticed WooHyun was giving him a soft glance. Their eyes met but this time SungYeol turned his face away. He wanted to see where the clumsy writer had gone.

Even if the freshman was doing nothing but reading a black notebook in one of the plaza’s benches after his humorous fall, SungYeol couldn’t stop from looking curiously at MyungSoo.

He didn’t exactly know why he was acting that way around the freshman. It might be that his fan side was pretty developed compared to others or that he was just looking for a way to distract himself from the emerged problem with his roommate. Maybe it was a bit of both, but SungYeol was too busy following him, being with his eyes or steps, to think about his actions.

It surprised him a bit when he saw a young male take a seat next to MyungSoo before he started to talk in what seemed a friendly way. Now that SungYeol thought about it, he didn’t remember seeing the fanfic writer being surrounded by people. He knew the freshman was the loner type, pretty close to the outcast group but it didn’t make much sense. From what he knew, MyungSoo was a pretty normal and likable guy. At least Lkimnit was.

Not really knowing why, when his free period came, SungYeol ran outside of his classroom with his bag lamely closed. Where was he heading to? Obviously to the university’s plaza just to catch a closer glimpse of his idolized writer. Unfortunately, the freshman was gone.

Disappointment covered his heart. SungYeol decided to wander around and to his luck he soon saw MyungSoo walking with the same black notebook close to his chest and his gaze busy on his mobile phone. The other guy he had been previously talking with was nowhere to be seen.

Again SungYeol followed him from a fair distance. Other college students noticed his actions and looked at him weirdly but it seemed MyungSoo was too into his mind, or mobile, to even notice the not-so-discreet stalker.

When an ping sound resounded in his ears, SungYeol noticed he had actually followed MyungSoo to the bathroom. To the bathroom.

Entering in a panic state, SungYeol moved in a rushed way to the closest stall and clumsily locked it. Thanks to his long legs he tripped and almost fell to the toilet, thank goodness the lid was down, so no water made contact with his skin.

And that’s pretty much the reason why SungYeol concluded he had something serious going on in his head.

“I’m a sasaeng,” SungYeol cried in a whisper before continuing hitting his head on the stall’s door.

Just as he was about to move to the tiles to be more effective, he heard someone knocking on the door. His bathroom stall of all. The blood from his veins froze as the knocking came back.

He had been caught.

“Stop playing hide and seek, Yeol-ah.”

Now that wasn’t the monotone voice he had heard last Friday but the one he had listened mature from the pitchy girly tone to the calm fastidious one.

“Oh my goodness, don’t scare me like that, Hoya!” SungYeol groaned  as he kicked the door open.

Yes, Hoya was right in front of him – pale from the shock of being almost hit straight on the face by the flying door, but there. Yet apart from the childhood friends the place was empty.  Where was the writer?

“You’re really planning to kill me, right?” Hoya said way too serious.

“You’re too smart to die in my hands,” SungYeol shrugged it off as he looked around for a bit. Had he gone into one stall?

“He’s already gone.”

SungYeol turned around to his friend who now had his usual peaceful look. “Who?”

“Kim MyungSoo.”

Was he too obvious?

“Who told you I was looking for him?”

“No one. I just saw you act like a freaking stalker following him all the way to the bathrooms,” Hoya scrunched his nose as he emphasized his last word. “That’s way too creepy. Even for you, Yeol.”

“I know,” SungYeol sighed before looking down. He had gone a bit too far. “Did you happen to see which way did he go?”

“SungYeol!”

♪  ♫ ♪  ♫

“Am I that obvious?”

“I’ll take that as a rhetorical question.”

“Gee, thanks,” SungYeol frowned as he poked Hoya’s arm with his chopsticks. A black stain was left on the not-anymore-perfectly white coat.

Both childhood friends were having lunch at the university’s cafeteria. Wednesdays were one of those days when their free time actually coincided so they could grab lunch together before going back to their schedules. Usually Hoya had a pretty inaccessible schedule, leaving him with bizarre hours to eat and sleep. SungYeol kept thinking that Hoya didn’t love himself much because who in his right mind could chose to neglect himself just to study such a demanding thing?

“This is the fifth time I catch you following the kid around. What’s actually going on with you and that freshman?”  Hoya took a sip of his cold tea. “Taking sudden interest on him.”

“It’s not that sudden...” SungYeol murmured before taking a big bite of his kimbap. If only he knew.

“Really? You didn’t even know he existed and suddenly you start stalking—”

“Following, not stalking,” SungYeol corrected. “And I knew he existed. His loner personality and sharp eyes are hard to not notice, plus he went last friday to Campanella. I even prepared his weird diabatic beverage before the boss told me to serve it.”

“Ah, that’s it.”

“Part of it,” SungYeol added casually before grinning. “As I was doing that I found out something pretty interesting about him.”

The way he said it made Hoya furrow his brows before leaning forward just to catch his friend’s mischievous face better. There was something fishy going on with the tall university student.

“Please tell me you didn’t act weirdly around him. You know Sunbae hates it when you scare the customers away.”

“Shut up, the boss always exaggerates,” SungYeol waved his chopsticks that were soon stopped by Hoya’s hand. He didn't want another dark spot on his uniform.Taking that as an opportunity, the tall student pulled his friend closer just to whisper.  “I just found out he’s actually a Bluebelle.”

Hoya couldn’t hide his surprise as his eyes opened wide while pulling himself back.

“What?” He whispered before snorting. SungYeol just nodded feeling proud of his discovery.

“He didn’t say it clearly but yeah, there were lots of proofs, I saw them, HD and all!  And he even told me he went to the same concert we did.”

“No way,” Hoya was now completely amused by the unexpected news.

“What are you two gossiping about, ladies?”

As soon as those words rang in the cafeteria, Hoya’s grin reached his eyes while SungYeol got pretty much petrified in the spot. He surely wasn’t expecting that. A tray filled with food was placed to his left side and before he knew it WooHyun was sitting right next to him.

“You won’t believe it,” Hoya looked at the arrived friend completely oblivious to what was going on in the youngest student’s head. “Do you happen to know the freshman Kim MyungSoo?”

“Department?” .

“Political sciences, right?”

SungYeol, that had been so busy looking at his oh-so-entertaining bowl of rice, quickly looked up at the medicine student just to give an awkward nod. Somehow he felt bothered by the fact that Hoya was talking about MyungSoo with WooHyun. He should’ve cared less—heck, he would’ve be the first one to share it with the other law student! It was how their lives used to roll but right then, there was no usual in the roommates’ lives.

“Hmm, nope,” WooHyun shrugged. “What about him?”

“It won’t be fun if you don’t know who he is,” Hoya waved his hand drawing a circle in the air with his chopsticks. “WooHyun-ah, I’m sure you’ve seen him before. Sharp eyes, quite an outcast.”

“He’s not.”

The youngest at the table had come to the conclusion that the writer was a loner. A willing outcast.

“Whatever, the point is—”

“There’s no point. Stop talking and eat. Your practice’s about to start,” SungYeol forced an onion to Hoya’s lips. His stretched arm got swatted away.

“I got time—”

The onion went back to the medicine student’s face.

“What about him?” WooHyun asked after digging some noodles, not really bothered by the interaction between both childhood friends.

“That’s none of your business,” SungYeol finally turned to look at him with confused eyes yet WooHyun just stared back, not answering the unsaid questions. This side of him was enervating for SungYeol.

“Don’t you know Yeol’s new hobby?” Hoya suddenly said making the tallest male blush. WooHyun half smirked at the sight.

“I wouldn’t call it that...”

“New hobby? What is it?”

“Do you even care?”

The way the question was snarled, made Hoya erase that playful smile he had been holding. WooHyun just looked at SungYeol a bit taken aback.

“No, I’m just curious,” WooHyun answered after a while. There goes SungYeol getting backfired by his own words. His playful smirk made the medicine student’s mood go up again.

“He’s been following that freshman for some days now.”

“Ow, that’s creepy. Creepy as hell.”

“Same thoughts, man.”

WooHyun’s casualness made a knot on SungYeol’s insides. What was seriously going on?

“What about that freshman, then?”

“Well, Yeol found out he’s a BleuBuster’s fan.”

“A Bluebelle?” WooHyun’s gaze rose from his chopsticks that had just placed a champignon on Hoya’s rice. The medicine student raised an eyebrow knowing SungYeol was the one that always received WooHyun’s champignons.

“If you’re more familiar with that term, yeah.”

“It’s the correct term,” SungYeol muttered hating how his roommate had used it. So confusing.

“I always thought you were the only fanboy on earth,” WooHyun nodded at the youngest at the table. “Isn’t it nice? Knowing there’s someone like you?”

“Why do you make it sound so bad?” SungYeol groaned. Really, was it that weird to be a male fan?

“Don’t worry, we accept you just the way you are, Yeol.”

Someone patted his hand and another one had surely said a teasing comment but SungYeol paid no attention to that as he caught sight of a certain writer entering the big cafeteria. Instantly he sat straight like the meerkat he was. Hoya, catching what SungYeol’s eyes had seen, snorted.

“Talking about the devil, See that dude, WooHyun? The one with the blue sweater. That’s the freshman.”

WooHyun, not caring about their bluntness, turned to where both his friends were looking. Soon he snorted.

“Ah, so that’s the guy!” This time WooHyun started to laugh. “Oh god! A Bluebelle!”

“Told you, you’ve seen him before.”

“Will both of you stop it?” SungYeol groaned, hiding his face between his hands.

Boys will be boys.

“In all seriousness, Yeol-ah,” Hoya directed his gaze to the front while WooHyun was still fighting with his laugh. “When will you actually stop following him around and start making a conversation like the human I suppose you’re?”

SungYeol blinked.

“W-well, that’s cuz—”

“Cuz he likes to be a creep.”

Oh no, WooHyun just didn’t.

“And you an !”

Too fed up to handle a bipolar WooHyun, Sungyeol slammed both hands on the table before taking his food tray and leaving the cafeteria without looking back.

Ranting Zone

It's been a while, huh? Sorry I left you hanging for a long time, I just explained in my main fic that I left to Québec for studies and had no way to write or post at all. But I'm back in track! Well, somehow, soon I'll be without laptop again, c'est la vie..

Moving into nice stuff, the chapter! yay! I really wanted to let SungYeol's fanboy side shine having him follow his sweet idolized writer around the campus. The guy instinctively went to look out for Lkimnit like he always does with BleuBusters (btw, did you notice who the members are? pfft..) Nice Hoya that made SungYeol realize MyungSoo was way too reachable and not an idol. How do you find this Hoya? I'm having some trouble with his personality but I think it's blooming nicely. And WooHyun, ah, this guy, I just love to write him like this, so rebelious, self centered and charming! Does anyone understand what he's actually thinking? Sorry there was no real action - or dialogue at all - from MyungSoo. Next chapter things will change!

Now, something that makes me really happy.. One chapter posted and I already got one vote! First chapter and the subscribers doubled to 6O! Thank you very much for it! Thank you all! My precious subscribers! the old ones, and the new ones! My secret new readers and the ones to come! Thanks also for the lovely comments and don't say you're sorry for leaving a long comment, I love to debate (like, seirously I answe everything you ask) and see what my readers think! it helps me do a better job!

Now, that's all for my rant this chapter!  Until next one!

Chapter 1: So i'm here, back to asianfanfics after 3 years. Well, life will take me away again, that's why I understand why most of on-going fanfics on my subscription stop updating (kinda sad tho, but who am i to blame lol). Your fic has the latest update, so here I am. Well, this brings back memory, and regardless of what happens, I'm still glad that I got to know your fic. Hope life isn't so rough, wish you luck, and maybe after few years when i'm back, I will see the word "finished" on some on-going fics lol
