From Admirer To Friend, part two

Oh My Goodness! I Fell in Love With Author-nim

FROM ADMIRER TO FRIEND part2

________________________________________________________________________

"I don't get you, Lee SungYeol, I seriously don't."

Like a needle, the mutter made its way thru the peacefully silent atmosphere of the dorm. The only sound so far had been the one of water falling from the faucet, the steps from the neighbour from the upper floor, the ticking clock and the irregular snore that WooHyun created. Other that that, it was a usual monday morning.

"You really have no self-respect, huh?"

This time SungYeol groaned letting his anger fall on the sink tap. While drying his hands, his eyes went directly to glare at the kitchen bar where a hot breakfast was set - the food being courtesy of their mothers' never ending packed food. But SungYeol had even poured some of his favourite coffee in his roommate's mug. His precious Mexican coffee.

Yesterday night SungYeol got to experience one of the most embarrassing moments in his life, all WooHyun's attentiveness, yet there he was, taking some of his precious time - and coffee - to fix his wasted friend some fulfilling meal so he could calm down his bound-to-happen hangover. He had even searched for some medicine, for god's sake!

"Am I an idiot?"

For the nth time he spoke to himself while setting a glass of water on the bed table. A mixture of helplessness and anger covered his gaze as his friend's sleeping figure entered to his view. WooHyun was slightly moving, proving the alcohol was finally making its work. This bringing an awkward delight to his guts.

"Yah, WooHyun-ah."

There wasn't a drop of delicacy in his voice. In fact, he even opted to kick the mattress just to make things a lot more uncomfortable for the now groaning WooHyun. As the guttural sound went stronger, SungYeol's smile went wider.

"Just to let you know, class starts in twenty. I left some aspirins here and breakfast's already in the table. Hurry," SungYeol said flatly while lazily pointing at the said breakfast and medicine. "Nam WooHyun."

There was no response since, well, the groans couldn't actually count.

"See you later then," SungYeol snorted grabbing his wallet and mobile from the bed table. He better hurry if he wanted to be safe for his first course. "Ah, also. Today we start dead week, if that sounds familiar to you."

♪  ♫ ♪  ♫

Dead week, formerly known as project week, was an event that got repeated a total of three times per semester in the law department. So far, SungYeol had lived eight and barely survived two. Even if they were though, the tall sophomore actually enjoyed them. Pulling all nighters wasn't so different from his constant sleep deprivation thanks to his tumblr addiction and drinking large quantities of coffee wasn't something out of the ordinary in his life. He quite enjoyed the thrill of stress and the challenge. After all, he had decided to study law because he liked it. He was one of those lucky people that were actually studying what they loved.

But even with all that passion, SungYeol had his upper body sprawled on one of the library's desks - his left cheek resting on his slim arm - while he tried his best to read one of the books he had collected for his projects but he couldn't do much when his eyes drifted every three minutes to his iPhone. It didn't help the fact that he had placed it on top of a pile of documents so it could never leave his view.

In less than an hour, SungYeol had collected several judging looks for the almost creepy smiles he kept making whenever his eyes wondered to the top of the pile and his mind wandered back to the midnight events. Apart from the embarrassing moment he had lived, SungYeol ended up gaining something truly valuable. Something he had never expected to have. One thing for another, right?

With the creepy smile turning into a delirious grin, the sophomore reached for the mobile before quickly unlocking it.

From: Author-nim,

Just wondering if Sunbae actually wrote the right number.

No mistake. WooHyun's surprisingly pretty good at using mobiles while drunk

Last night after debating for a long while whether to answer or not, SungYeol took some minutes thinking how to answer the SMS. He didn't want to sound too fan like nor disrespectful. He wanted something remarkable and smooth, something with impact. So he did, ending up getting that pretty cool answer. Cool and unimpressive. So unimpressive that SungYeol got no SMS back. He had spent almost an entire hour waiting for a response but nothing came. Nada.

Just the fact made SungYeol's smile falter.

But what answer could he receive when he didn't even make a question..? So why the hell he had decided to answer when MyungSoo hadn't actually make a question? He had wondered, not asked! Ah, right, he was Lkimnit.

SungYeol had Lkimnit's phone number.

How cool was that? Huh?!

Feeling happy with that fact, SungYeol threw his mobile back to the pile of documents. He had some projects to work on. But that set of mind didn't last long since soon a pretty pitchy noise bubbled up from the iPhone. He moved fast, not because it had actually sounded when he was inside a library but because he hoped it was finally an answer from his favourite writer. Hope is the last thing to die.

From: WooHyun,

Was it too damn hard to wake me up!?!! I missed legal studies!!

"Oh, really? I barely noticed it."

SungYeol snorted at his own sarcasm. He wasn't going to satisfy WooHyun giving him an answer. Too soon his iPhone sounded again, this time, a bell sound. Another, and another.

Lee HoWon

hey Yeol!

Lee HoWon

he's still alive rite?

Lee HoWon

you didn't let him drown in his own vomit rite?

Why were his friends so freaking syncronized? SungYeol didn't mind it, on the other side he enjoyed it. Still, a grimace painted his lips as he read what Hoya wrote, how unfortunate for SungYeol, WooHyun hadn't even tried to puke.

Lee HoWon

and put your mobile on silent mode, I can listen to it all the way over here!

As soon as he finished reading that SungYeol raised his head like the meerkat he is, moving it quickly from side to side. Another bell sound an some glares directed to his side.

Lee HoWon

I'm right in front of you idiot

And he certainly was, sitting two tables right in front of him. An amused expression was decorating his face while his fingers got busy on his MacBook's keyboard.

Lee HoWon

and put it on silent mode

Lee HoWon

hurry

Lee HoWon

people's already looking at you

SungYeol rolled his eyes before before changing the mode. The whole time mumbling some quiet sorry's to the people seating on the same table. The judging looks were hard to ignore and unpleasant.

Then stop showering my inbox with messages before I do it !!

Lee HoWon

I have to. If not you'll leave it that way

Lee HoWon

rules are meant to be followed.

Lee HoWon

plus I have the duty to remind you

Lee HoWon

what are friends made for?

SungYeol snorted pretty loud before his eyes met with Hoya's serious ones. It was quite amusing how his childhood friend managed to keep a straight face while saying a joke or something idiotic. The best part being the moment when Hoya smiled at himself, acknowledging it had been a really lame comment.

Lee HoWon

talkin bout friends, what bout Woohyun?

If you're wondering he's still alive

It's a shame he didn't puke

SungYeol wrote with his phone up, managing to catch Hoya's expressions. He had actually smirked at the last comment before he reached for a thick old book. Noticing Hoya was getting himself busy, he went to reach some of his own work, finally starting to copy what he had been trying to ever since he arrived to the library. When he was done with the first paragraph, he looked back to his mobile.

Lee HoWon

did you guys drink it off?

Lee HoWon

or did you made things worse?

Indignated, SungYeol looked up to the busy medicine student before fiercy writing an answer.

What do you mean by that?

I'm not the one making things worse

Why am I feeling you think I'm the problem?

Lee HoWon

hmm.. cuz you are?

HOYAA!!!!

Lee HoWon

In all seirousness, I really wanna know

Well, lets say he was drunk enough to give Myungsoo my phone number

Lee HoWon

WHAT?!

Lee HoWon

what was the freshman doing there?

Lee HoWon

and well that certainly escalated quickly

Lee HoWon

am I missin something?!

Lee HoWon

..and why the hell are we reacting like teenager girls?

SungYeol raised an eyebrow.

We?

Don't include me in your overdramatic reaction

Trying to write as short but as understandable as possible, SungYeol managed to narrate to his childhood friend what happened last night. It was pretty stressing to try and write on the touck keyboard, getting to erase every now and then all thanks to the auto-correct and his excitement. He kept wondering why the heck he still hadn't changed the application.

Lee HoWon,

Yeolah, you gotta stop reading between lines.

Lee HoWon

he didn't answer and that's it dude

Lee HoWon

he ain't a girl

He was about to write an answer but didn't noticing Hoya was writing something. It was taking him longer than expected, so when he looked up to his childhood friend, he noticed there was a slight frown on the older male's forehead, as if he was thinking too hard.

What?

Lee HoWon

are you sure you don't have something to tell me?

Seriously? He had to ask that of all times?

You know? That joke's getting old

Lee HoWon

You know I won't judge.

"Aish," SungYeol said under his breathe, thinking he couldn't talk with his friend in a serious way, at least not then but when he felt a stare on him, SungYeol looked front, ending making eye contact with his friend. Hoya's gaze wasn't holding the mischievous spark he tended to have, proving he had been serious all along. That's the thing about internet, you don't know what people really mean or feel while writing. You need to see their eyes to know their nature and true meaning.

Remember that time when I told you he wans't just a bluebelle?

Hoya was right. He had to stop thinking that way, yet he couldn't help it. And he didn't blame his friend for confusing his actions for his usual fanboy ones, after all, he didn't know MyungSoo was the writer SungYeol admired and idolized. He was Lkimnit. Hoya knew about the writer since SungYeol didn't waste a second to not talk about either Bleu Busters or the infamous Lkimnit, almightly writer.

Lee HoWon

yeah?

Well, he's actually Lkimnit.

There. He finally said it - or wrote it in this particular case.

As he wrote the revelation of the century, he had felt his heart rate accelerate in a way he imagined it would burst at any moment. He had just said a secret that could put the freshman in danger. People could know about what he wrote among other stuff. Hoya would waste no time in sharing this precious information to WooHyun and then MyungSoo's secret life would be out for the public to know. Oh god, SungYeol had taken things too lightly to be a fan. He had taken too much liberty in sharing that with his friend. On Facebook. He should really correct his error. He should

Lee HoWon

so?

Well, that was something SungYeol didn't really expect.

Lee HoWon

he's just another human being, Yeol.

Lee HoWon

leave that fanboy side of yours for those idols

Lee HoWon

make some friends for god's sake

Not only WooHyun in his drunk self but Hoya too, were insisting on him befriending with the freshman.

Why are you so keen on me being friends with him?

Lee HoWon

cuz both of you have the same interest

Lee HoWon

and just so you know, stalking won't magically turn him into one

"Yah! I don't stalk him!" SungYeol said loudly to Hoya - completely forgetting his surroundings - yet he got olympically ignored by the older. For his misfortune, the librarian in turn didn't.

♪  ♫ ♪  ♫

After that Sunday, SungYeol had found no luck in meeting the writer. No SMS or sight of him. Maybe his fan radar was beginning to get oxidized or the younger student was doing a good job hiding himself from him. After the questions and attitude he had received from WooHyun, SungYeol was sure the freshman was trying his best to avoid them both. Hoya had to hit him on his head, twice, to make SungYeol give up on that stupid idea. Because, really, MyungSoo was way too naïve to even notice he had been treated wrongly.

"Oh my goodness!" SungYeol said loudly before covering his mouth with both hands.

What he had thought it was going to be another day without seeing the freshman,  SungYeol ended up catching sight of a dark clothed MyungSoo, who was close to the first building's entrance. The sophomore was just about to conclude his Thursday when his vision got illuminated with the younger's figure.

He couldn't actually see his face, but he could recognize that slim back from a mile away. He had seen it way too many times when he had been following - not stalking - the freshman to confuse it. It was him. Leaning gently on one of the entrance's columns.

As SungYeol walked closer to him, he noticed MyungSoo wasn't actually alone. He was talking, or rather listening to someone. A person that was no stranger to his eyes. He had seen that guy sticking around MyungSoo several times before. And the image was pretty much the same. MyungSoo quiet while the younger had a slight pissed expression covering his feminine features.

"You should've waited before doing it," SungYeol was able to listen to the guy's voice as he approached to them. Was he actually calling the freshman's attention? Who did he think he was?! "You can't just do and undo this kind of stuff."

"It's my work."

Short and flat. It was funny how SungYeol had missed to listen to that voice. He could only smirk when he saw the other guy's eyes open wide at the obviously cynic answer. He didn't need to know what they were talking about to understand how smartass MyungSoo's phrase had been.

"You've got to be professional! For heaven's sake!" The despair wasn't only noticeable in the other male's voice but façade too. His eyes sending daggers to MyungSoo's nonchalant character. Who would've thought such a delicate figure could hold such strong personality. "Yes?"

Backing up the moment the guy set eyes on him just seemed right. SungYeol hadn't noticed, at least not until then, how close he was standing from those two.

"Oh, I-I just" he stuttered now that he met the young writer's orbs.

"SungYeol, there you are."

Was he listening correctly? MyungSoo's lips had moved, he had seen them move and release that quite enthusiastic voice, he had seen the younger's eyes open slightly with a glow that took SungYeol completely by surprise. He blinked several times as he felt MyungSoo's fist slightly punching his arm. The closeness seemed awkward. It felt so awkward.

"I thought you had forgotten."

"Huh?" Was the only thing the sophomore managed to blurt out but MyungSoo paid no attention to how lost his sunbae looked. Not even to the raised eyebrown from the other student.

"SungYeol, this is SungJong," the writer introduced the other male with a head gesture. "A freshman in Communications."

"Ah, right. Nice to meet you."

It was kind of sudden, but SungYeol still remembered to be polite so he slightly bended his head, not losing their eye contact. This SungJong had pretty big eyes for being a guy that surprisingly got nicely framed with his messy brown hair. What SungYeol wasn't so fond of was the quick look he got from the younger. As if he just got examined by him.

A smirk got painted in the younger's lips. "Same."

Talking about being polite.

"So, we're gonna leave first, SungJong," MyungSoo stated as he pulled slightly SungYeol's arm to make him walk. He wasn't hating the sudden skinship but it still caught him off guard. "I'll talk with you later, okay?"

"But—"

"Later," MyungSoo raised his free hand as a goodbye gesture while SungYeol tried to keep up with the other's quick steps. For being shorter, the writer was quite fast.

"Yah! Where do you think you're running away?"

SungYeol wasn't going to lie, he actually cringed when he heard SungJong's voice but MyungSoo seemed so used to it. Or maybe he  just went back to his expressionless features. SungYeol wasn't so sure. Maybe he had imagined all that warmthness from before. He wasn't so sure what had happened back there but he had the slightly obvious sensation he had been used to get the writer free from that SungJong dude.

"Author-nim?" SungYeol hesitanly asked as he noticed the other's steps had started to lower their pace. They were no longer in the university grounds.

"Just follow me. Please. I know he won't give up that easily," MyungSoo said before reaching a pedestrian crossing. The green light flashing  in the graish like sky. It was going to rain tonight. "And don't call me that. MyungSoo's fine."

SungYeol nodded, still following the younger. "Is he actually your friend?"

"SungJong? Hum..." MyungSoo looked at the sophomore from the corner of his eyes. He was the kind of people that actually took their time to answer. "I guess?"

"Then why run away?" SungYeol wondered out loud, getting a blank stare in response. MyungSoo had finally stopped walking.

"He nags too much," he answered bluntly.

"Hey! friends are meant to nag" SungYeol instinctively defended the younger. His subconscious side making him act before thinking.  Well, what could people expect? He was the nagging kind of friend. "Sorry, AuthorI mean, MyungSoo. Aish, this whole thing is awkward." He concluded letting his forehead reach the bus stop advertisement. He wasn't in the mood to let the young writer see his face. He could feel his cheeks burning hot.

"SungYeol," he heard the quite lifeless voice. "I posted a new chapter this morning."

"What?"

Well, that was a quick way to make SungYeol turn to look at him and forget his embarrassments.

"Which one? Is it long?" SungYeol asked once again forgetting what personal space meant. He had a fierce fanboy side that people weren't to take lightly. "Is it from Dusk and Snow? It is, right?! And why didn't you tell me before?!"

Pursuing his lips to the side, MyungSoo tilted his head.  "Yes. It is. And I just told you, right?"

"Oh my goodness, I have to get home and read it! Aish! Why do I have to work today, too?!" SungYeol whined but still grinned in excitement as his body slightly bounced, the feels were too strong to be suppressed by the fact he had to go to Campanella Café and see his boss ever-pissed face. Yet all this inner party got paused when he heard a snort. MyungSoo was actually smirking. More like holding a smile. A smile

"You like them that much?" MyungSoo asked as his voice cracked with an upcoming chuckle. A chuckle that made his eyes smaller and his lips thinner. Finally a more human like image was starting to appear in MyungSoo's aura. This was surely something not many people saw.

"Yeah, I do," the sophomore answered without hesitation.

If SungYeol hadn't been so thrilled with the received news, he would've noticed that the writer was actually evading his gaze and trying hard to suppress the warm smile. In his head, the only thing that was visual was the future, where he saw himswelf resting on his bed with his precious iPad placed on his pillow as he read the latest chapter of his now favourite fanficiton.

"Hey," MyungSoo's monotone voice came back. "Your bus."

Wait, what? SungYeol looked around finally recognizing the place they had stopped. How had they ended up there? And

"Damn, I'm gonna be late! Boss' gonna kill me," SungYeol groaned, dragging his now heavy body to the bus line. Before getting inside he gave a last glance to MyungSoo. "I'm glad I could help you, AuMyungSoo."

MyungSoo nodded dryly before raising his hand to wave a mechanic goodbye. "Thanks about that. See you tomorrow, SungYeol."

"Yeah"

Wait, what?!
