Chapter 10: Three Different People

[HIATUS] A Complicated Kind of Love.

Across the Nam River Bridge was a boy all alone--seated in an empty vast room surrounded by flower decorations covering the four walls.

He kept his head down low with tears flowing furiously along his face, a sight that the public never knew of. Directly in front of him lay a coffin as he held tightly onto a single yellow daisy; her favorite… sadly staring at its withering petals, falling gently into the palms of his hands.

“Why do you all leave me?” his soft voice quivered in the gloomy space.

“Mom, dad, and now you…” He singlehandedly wiped the salty water that painted his face.

He stood up from the brass hard metal chair, as he took heavy footsteps towards the coffin. Bowing to a complete fold, he kissed the picture frame that stood before him and weakly smiled.

“I love you grandma…”

“5…4…3…2…1.”

"..."

"Time is up...answer."

Sooyoung’s pupils continuously ran every direction –up, down, left, right.

She continuously turned the beloved ring on her thin finger that her father gave her ; a precious platinum sterling silver masterpiece handed down to her on her eighteenth birthday. It was a magical treasure…absolutely priceless in her mind.

An indescribable sense of nervousness shot through her body like a zap of electricity running though her. Her breaths suddenly became short and fast as she began panting.

Changmin watched her from the corner of his eyes as he made not one single move –left hand still placed onto the steering wheel while the other still coolly lay on top of the shift. The obvious sense of discomfort was apparent in his eyes.

The way she avoided his presence, the way she played with the ring on her finger, the way she wouldn’t stop tapping her feet along the car floor, the way her chest walls rose and collapsed more quickly after each minute, the way a blank expression suddenly covered her beautiful soft and gentle face…he recognized it all.

He knew that this wasn’t right…that this wasn’t how it was suppose to be. That possibly, he thought differently, that their feelings towards each other actually weren’t mutual after all.

Just possibly, he, ‘The Shim Changmin’ got it wrong…got it wrong for once.

The pivotal moment when he wished it to be true, he was actually wrong…?

He lifted his heavy hand off the steering wheel and was reaching over to unlock the doors as his hand shook at its way there. Slowly, he turned his head and saw his fingers twitching uncontrollably as if pleading with his mind, begging it to stop that action from occurring; don't open the lock.

He felt his stomach drop at that moment.

I don’t want to either…I really don’t…but I can’t do this to her, this isn’t right.

He tried convincing his selfish fingers that desperately disliked the idea.

He used every little ounce of his body to gather the strength to finally release that lock, something so easy—yet all the while just as hard.

The sound of the unlocked doors relieved Sooyoung to the fullest. She jumped out the car and slammed the door behind. She quickly took a few steps headed towards her front door, when her feet naturally caused her to turn around.

“S-S-S-Shim Changmin,” she softly called out.

He slowly turned and lifted his head at the sound of her gentle yet quivering voice among the chirps emitted by the crickets that night.

“U-uhmm, just make sure to be c-c-careful on your way home…” she replied to him as she fidgeted with her shirt collar before turning and heading to her house door once again.

“CHOI SOOYOUNG.” His deep masculine sharp voice echoed in the fresh air.

She stopped right where she was.

“Did you just say yes?”

Her eyes quickly dilated as fast as a single burst of a balloon before snapping her head back to face him.

“W-w-w-what?!” her voice was shaky.

“Was that a yes?”

Although he was a good few steps away from her and was still seated in his car, his intense gaze hit her just as hard like a ton of bricks landing on her.

“I-I-I said to be careful on your way home…be careful driving…after all I could have sworn that you possibly ran a few red lights” she continued to ramble on, “...speed limit said 60, but I swear we were going at a good 80 at least. How you were able to get your license remains a mystery to me. What’s the name of the person who granted you this license huh? I should probably go down there tomorrow and argue my case because-”

“I’ll take it as a yes then.” He cut her off.

Sooyoung’s mouth dropped open.

Changmin had a slight smile form across his handsome sculpture like face. He then quickly reached into his pocket and pulled something out before whipping the object at the cute puzzled girl that stood in shock.

With reflexes equivalent to that of a slick cheetah, Sooyoung easily caught the flying object aimed towards her –a cell phone. She looked at it curiously before raising her eyebrows at Changmin.

“Reply to every single text message I send you. Answer every single phone call I give you.” He sternly said as he looked into her eyes seriously.

“Hmm???” She was completely taken off guard by every single thing, after all she still didn't quite agree to it all.

“If you don’t you’re dead. Got that?”

“…” she just stared back at the boy dazed and confused.

“See ya later then,” He lightly replied before giving her a wink with his delicate yet handsome set of eyes.

It's amazing how this guy can have a fiery fieceness about him one moment who curses at the world and then suddnely turn into this puppy like person winking like that...

He pulled down on the shift and aggressively stepped on the accelerator swiftly taking off right before Sooyoung's bewildered self. She watched him drive away down her neighborhood streets as the smoke from his black car’s exhaust was the only thing left.

“Keep them coming I saiddddd!” the voice called out angrily in the crowded bar.

Everyone stopped and stared at the obvious drunken state of the good looking kid that was wasting away with every single shot he threw down his throat.

The buff bartender leaned onto the bar, “Hey kid, I think that’s enough for you today. Why don’t you go home now hmm? Someone with looks like you probably got someone worrying over you at home…so why don’t you do us all a favor and head on home now huh?

The kid shot his eyes up at the individual daring to come between him and the heavenly taste of the bitter drops of vodka. “Do you know who I am?” he asked confidently.

“My name is Choi Minho. CHOI MINHO. I have nothing…absolutely nothing and no one. There’s no one at home waiting anymore.” He smirked at the sad thought as he grabbed the remaining shot glass and chugged it down easily.

The bouncers at the door finally decided to step in and drag the drunken individual out the door.

Minho wobbled with every single step he took; walking down the streets that he often adventured yet that night were oddly unfamiliar. Down the empty roads he walked…alone…alone as the moonlight reflected off his sulked body.

Drowned in hard liquor he tried his very best to escape the feeling of sadness mixed with the harsh feeling of loneliness.

Changmin threw off his jacket onto his desk as he flopped down onto the soft mattress of his bed.

He brought his hand up as he played with his car keys between his fingers. He smiled foolishly as he recalled Sooyoung’s cute ramblings about his driving…the way she puffed her rosy red cheeks as she talked at that moment.

He couldn’t help but feel light as cotton candy, a feeling that was so hard for him to come across these past few months---happiness.

Sooyoung walked onto the bedroom balcony in her soft pink pajamas. She took a deep breath in, trying to clear her mind from all the thoughts that ran across her brain.

She felt full yet empty…a feeling that doesn’t quite make sense but that was the best way to explain it.

She looked above at the stars that twinkled before her. She couldn’t help but wish upon the shining beautiful object as she still worried about a specific someone.

Although I don’t know where you are, I hope you are okay…Minho, I wish you are alright.

She lowered her stare down to the familiar scenery of her neighborhood. A familiar voice entered into her mind just then.

“Wishing on a star doesn’t really work…why do you girls even think that?”

Shim Changmin’s annoying nagging voice pounded into her brain.

She had no recollection of when exactly he said such words to her, but it echoed inside her...certain that he said something along those lines to her. Sooyoung smiled as she tried to picture Changmin saying such a stupid line.

Idiot, who the hell says is doesn't work?

She pulled up the cell phone she carried in one of her hands and rubbed the face screen lightly with her fingertips.

Before heading back in, she took a deep breath in then released a long breath out.

That night in the city of Seoul were three different people. Each immersed in a set of their own emotions.

One lay helplessly knocked out on the footsteps of a random house...alone.

One lay in his comfy bed caught up in the dream-like events that had just occured.

...while the other, who seemed to be forever confused about almost everything, was the key that tangled all of them together.

A/N: OMG I'M ONE HAPPY PERSON RIGHT NOW =) Sorry, but I just seen this and had to include that picture aha.

Gosh seeing this made me think of a interesting plot for a next FF...ChangSoo mixed with another hmm maybe Kyu or Yoochun (lol since I'm kinda immersed with Yoochun these days bwuaha)

BTW, the kid crying at the beginning = Minho...if that wasn't clear. XP
