Caffine
Poison, Sugar, and Other AnomaliesNightfall find both Kai and Luhan seated on the couch, laughing at something neither of them can quite recall. Kai pulls out a cigarette and Luhan grabs his wrist.
"Throw it away," he says, eyes warm and gaze steady. "Toss it and I'll eat the leftover ramyun."
It's a promise and it's a start. Long nights of foul smoke and sharp ribs slowly turn to comfortable silences shared with coffee (in Kai's case) and tea (in Luhan's).
"We destoryed ourselves," remembers the younger, leaning on the windowsill. This time, only his breath leaves his lips.
"And we saved each other." Luhan doesn't have to look at Kai to know what he's thinking. He recalls an almost-fight, back when Kai tasted like booze and not mint.
I hope you enjoyed this. I really liked writing it, but I'm not really sure how I feel about it.
