You’re not gonna believe what happened to me today! I never thought people can be this stupid! It’s not just about the expensive suit, the gorgeous body, or the perfect cologne, it’s about the brain!

Aaaah hyung, you should’ve seen him! He was lost for words when I introduced myself. He wants to have a baby and he’s not even paying attention to the surrogate's information? Oh my god, he looked like he was going to faint! hehehe

Well, the truth is, I was so excited when Heechul hyung told me about my first client, but it’s just not meant to be. Hyung, you should’ve seen the look on that Choi Siwon’s face... hahaha he looked so stupid telling me ‘you’re a male’... Duuuh!

If it happened a few months ago, I would’ve totally being upset, but I’m now accepting who I am. There’s nothing wrong with me... Except that I have a womb and a , but well, I don’t mind... I know, I know, I used to always fight with you over this matter but I made peace with it. I’m not going to let people step on me just because I’m an inter. It doesn’t change who I am... That's what you always used to tell me, right?

Hyung, I need you... so can you just come back to me, please?

Kyuhyun stood up with a sigh, taking one last look around the room before exiting his apartment. Even though his meeting didn't go as planned, life goes on and he had another job to go to.

Meanwhile, Choi Siwon was pacing in his office, shock clearly still written all over his face. His friend Hyukjae was watching from the side, waiting for him to calm down so he could tell him what happened.

Ten minutes of pacing, Siwon could finally walk toward Hyukjae, standing in front of him with eyes widen and eyebrows touching the hairline.

“How am I supposed to know that a male can get pregnant, ha?” He exclaimed with his hands thrown in the air since Siwon was quite known for using too many gestures when he's angry, shy, or when he’s confused just like now.

“Whoa! What are you talking about?”

“Exactly!”

Siwon’s tone was making Hyukjae seriously bewilder. He stepped closer to him and put his hands on each of Siwon’s shoulders calming him down.

“Can you please tell me what exactly happened? Didn’t you meet the surrogate? You didn’t like her?”

Hyukjae tried to make Siwon cool down from whatever issue was making him fussing this way.

“Him, Hyukjae! Him!”

Siwon snapped, causing Hyukjae to narrow his eyes in focus trying to process what he said and the response he got, and then his eyes suddenly bulged out.

“Him? You mean the surrogate you chose is a male? But how can-“

“Inter apparently can get pregnant”

“Oh.My.God... Hahaha” Hyukjae couldn't help but burst out laughing. His mind was imagining how Siwon might’ve looked like when he was introduced to the surrogate and he couldn't stop himself from feeling amused about it.

Siwon snorted in annoyance because his friend laughing at him wasn't making it any better. He turned around and walked to the window, crossing his arms over his chest and closing his eyes while taking deep breaths to calm himself.

When Hyukjae finally regulated his breathing from all the laughing, he walked to his friend while wiping away the laughter tears in the corner of his eyes. He patted Siwon’s shoulder a couple of times, still giggling a bit but when the latter glared at him, Hyukjae covered his mouth and cleared his throat before speaking.

“Ok. So, as far as I know, the company states the candidate’s information, right?”

The question made Siwon bang his head into the window’s frame. How could he be so stupid not noticing the gender? He still didn't even know how he chose n°50. He just looked at his picture and just like that he knew he wanted him to carry his child... But how can it be a he?!

“How am I supposed to know that there’s a male between those candidates?”

The pitiful sign in his tone made Hyukjae feel sorry for his friend. He soothingly rubbed Siwon’s back until the latter composed himself again and looked at him.

“You should’ve seen how I froze in place like a statue! No words were coming out of my mouth! So not me, Hyukjae”

Again, imagining Siwon like that made Hyukjae break into another wave of laughter, leaving Siwon full of furry although he himself knew that the matter was quite hilarious.

Waiting for his friend to stop, he walked to his desk to resume his work. He took another deep breath in and out, clearing his thoughts from this morning’s shock before focusing on the documents in front of him.

Hyukjae, who knew there was still a lot of laughing inside of him, decided to continue it outside. He just waved at his boss and exited the room, chuckles echoing behind him and making Siwon grit his teeth in irritation.

...

Later that night, Kyuhyun had a call from Heechul asking him to stop by since he had some questions about his morning’s meeting.

Kyuhyun just ended his shift at the coffee shop and all he wanted was to go back home and lie down since it’s been a very busy day. However, now he would have to go all the way to Sapphire Hope just to tell his boss that he had been rejected.

The twenty two years old boy was actually a college student but he took a time off because he had some personal matters. The job he was working at right then was normally his brother’s, but since the latter wasn't able to continue it, Kyuhyun took his place considering how he was in a serious need of money.

...

When he arrived at Heechul’s office, the latter was lying on the couch, laughing with someone over the phone, and Kyuhyun smiled as he was pretty much aware of who Heechul was talking to.

“Tell him I say hi”

“That brat is saying hi”

Kyuhyun glared at him making the older playfully poke his tongue out at him, but then the latter soon pursed his lips together, pouting and earning him a smirk from Kyuhyun. The younger could guess that Heechul just got scolded by his boyfriend for calling him a brat.

Heechul hanged up the phone with a faint 'I love you' that didn't go unnoticed by the younger but he chose not to about it. He then sat up and motioned for Kyuhyun to join him on the couch.

“How is Hangeng hyung?”

Kyuhyun asked while leaning his back on the couch. He didn't miss on the sad look in his hyung’s orbs but of course the latter was known for never showing his weak side.

“What did you do to him that makes him adore you this much?”

Kyuhyun sweetly smiled at him, crossing his arms over his chest then proudly stating “because I am adorable”

That left Heechul laughing while the younger just pouted at him, although deep down he was happy to see his hyung smile.

...

You see, Hangeng is a close friend of Kyuhyun’s brother for a few years now, and since the two were always hanging out together, the younger also became friends with him. Later on, when Heechul and Hangeng started dating, which was almost two years ago, he also joined the gang and the four of them became very close ever since.

Kyuhyun admired the two love birds so much since they’ve been there for him when everything came shattering down for him the past year. When he needed to work and took his brother's place at the café, Heechul and Hangeng were very sad about him dropping out of college because he’s very smart and he clearly had a future. However, under the circumstances he was in, there was no way he could continue his studies.

It wasn’t until two months ago that Heechul came bursting into Kyuhyun’s apartment, saying that he made some researches and that the younger had a possibility of getting pregnant, being an inter, and so if that was true, he could totally join the company.

Kyuhyun was against the idea at first, because the thought of getting pregnant for someone else wasn't that welcoming. However, seeing how the bills started to pile up day after day, he had no other choice but to try.

It was a very long shot, but after a lot of tests, which Heechul insisted on paying for, Kyuhyun turned out to be one of those few people who could actually conceive a baby, and that was how he became n°50.

Kyuhyun was so nervous especially thinking who would want a man to carry his baby, but when Heechul called him earlier in the day asking him to come and meet his first client, he didn’t believe it at first, but he was quite excited nonetheless. He was in a serious need of cash and although Heechul and Hangeng offered to help him several times, Kyuhyun just couldn’t accept. He always said that he could take care of himself.

Just think how bummer it felt that the first client to choose him as a surrogate was only by mistake.

...

“So when is he coming back?”

Kyuhyun hesitantly asked because he knew how Heechul misses his boyfriend. The latter had a job offer back in China three months ago, and it was a big opportunity that he couldn’t reject. Heechul had been very supportive but both Kyuhyun and Hangeng knew that he must’ve been heartbroken.

“He applied for that transfer, but still no answer yet”

Heechul bends his head low, staring at the floor and trying to suppress his tears. Kyuhyun felt bad and he quickly thought of something that he knew would cheer him up.

“You wanna know my client’s reaction this morning?”

It worked because Heechul snapped his head to Kyuhyun’s direction and curiously asked “Ah, right. What the hell happened?”

Kyuhyun sighed before stating the events of his not so successful meeting with Choi Siwon.

“Well, he didn’t know I was a male. Can you believe it? He didn’t even check the information column!”

Heechul’s eyes grew in size and he scoffed while leaning his back on the couch.

“I was surprised when he asked for you because he didn’t look like the kind to choose a man, but he seemed so confident about his choice”

Kyuhyun tsked, chuckling when he recalled how the client looked at him this morning.

“He froze like a statue, hyung! I’m telling you he couldn’t even hide his shock”

Heechul smiled but he knew his dongsaeng must've been feeling down about it. He soothingly rubbed Kyuhyun’s knee before assuring him.

“Don’t worry about him. It’s only been two months since you joined. Someone will pick you”

“I’m not so sure about that, but thanks hyung”

Kyuhyun sadly exclaimed, avoiding Heechul’s gaze and glancing at the space in front of him. The older, not wanting to make Kyuhyun feel uncomfortable, decided to let it go.

“You must be tired, go home”

Kyuhyun shot him a weak smile before nodding and standing up.

“Bye hyung”

“See you, brat”

Kyuhyun rolled his eyes but with a wide smile on his face. He then exited the office to head to his apartment.

When Choi Siwon was once again laying on his king sized bed, his mind started replaying the events from that morning. He scolded himself for not paying attention to the information column because if he did, he wouldn’t be feeling bad right now.

Yes bad, because even though Siwon looked like a cold man, he wasn't the type to hurt people’s feelings. He was wondering what Kyuhyun must’ve felt when he realized he was chosen by mistake and if he felt offended by Siwon’s words, well more like his reaction because he didn't really say much from the shock.

Cho Kyuhyun... Why did I choose you in the first place? Aiiich, this is ridiculous! I want a child but you’re a... man! I always trust in my gut and that’s how I picked you but why do you must be a man?!

I have nothing against inter people, but is it safe for you to carry my child? Will my child be okay? *sigh* ... I for once have no idea what to do!

Feeling frustrated, he tucked himself under the blanket and tried to sleep. However, just as he closed his eyes, Kyuhyun’s image popped up and he had to snap them open in shock.

That happened whenever Siwon would close his eyes. The boy’s face, eyes, skin, voice... it all hunted him down and he couldn't seem to drift to sleep. It went on for an hour before he could finally fall asleep, but when he woke up early in the morning, the same thing happened again making him really agitated about the whole matter.

It’s all because I’m guilty for how I chocked and reacted when I saw him...

Unfortunately, or not, that guilt seemed to be living with him for the next three days. The same things happened all over again. When he would be trying to sleep, Kyuhyun’s image would be on his mind, and when he woke up in the morning, Kyuhyun would again be the first thing he thought of.

At least in the office he was way too busy to think about the whole thing. Well, when Hyukjae wasn't bringing it up.

“So? Did you give up on your idea of having a baby?”

Hyukjae asked him on the fourth day after the surrogacy meeting. The assistant was sitting on the couch beside Siwon’s desk, scrolling down his phone and pretending he didn't notice how the topic made Siwon’s body tense up.

“I don’t know” He calmly replied, eyes focused on his work.

“You don’t know or you’re afraid you’ll get it wrong again?” Hyukjae , earning him a glare from Siwon which he only saw from the top of his eyes.

There was silence for a few minutes, each concentrating on their things before a loud sigh echoed around the office, making Hyukjae abandon his phone and look at his friend who seemed to be thinking about something.

“What is it?”

Siwon looked at him for a minute, thinking if he should state his thoughts or not. Eventually, he stood up and walked to sit next to his friend.

“There's something about that guy that I can’t seem to figure out”

Hyukjae had to narrow his eyes at that, trying to catch who Siwon was talking about but nothing really. The latter noticed because he added “The male surrogate”

Hyukjae’s mouth formed an O as he slowly nodded his head before asking “What about him? What can’t you figure out?”

“He keeps on showing up in my mind, and I don’t know if it’s a sign that I should have a baby, or a sign that I shouldn’t”

Siwon explained in one breath before looking at his friend with a kind of pleading look as if he was waiting for Hyukjae to give him an answer.

“Siwon, you’re smart and all when it comes to business, but in life, you’re really stupid”

That earned him a punch on the arm, but Siwon didn't say anything. He just silently waited for Hyukjae to enlighten him about what he meant.

“I mean, the reason why you keep thinking about him is because you really want that baby and deep inside you think that surrogate is the best choice. You always base your business decisions on your hunch, so what’s changed now?”

Siwon furrowed his eyebrows, processing Hyukjae’s words and finding him quite right. The reason why he didn’t even look at the other candidates and chose Kyuhyun from the first look was because of his hunch.

Hyukjae watched his boss nodding, clearly agreeing with what he said, so he carefully added “Which means... Just call him again and set up another meeting”

That made Siwon snap his head in his assistant’s direction, eyes slightly widen and lips pursed in a thin line, thinking about how he will face Kyuhyun again. 

...

So as he spent the night thinking about Hyukjae’s words and the way he convinced him to just go with his intuition, Siwon finally decided to set up another meeting with Cho Kyuhyun.

He called Heechul first thing when he arrived at the office the next morning, but since he was really busy that day, he asked if Kyuhyun could drop by during lunch break. The head director hesitated at first, but thinking about how Kyuhyun needed this chance, he agreed and told him he would inform the male surrogate.

...

Lunch time came up quickly since Siwon was very busy attending a meeting after another, and just as he took a seat behind his desk, leaning his tired body on the chair, a knock came from behind the door. Figuring out it was mostly Hyukjae, he wearily said “Come in”

However, a few seconds after when he didn't hear his assistant’s noisy tone, he straightened up and that was when his sight landed on his awaiting guest. Hyukjae probably did it in on purpose not informing him.

“Kyuhyun-ssi, you’re here”

His weary expression soon vanished as he crossed his arms on the desk and looked directly at the man who had been depriving him from sleep lately.

“Apparently”

Kyuhyun muttered while letting his eyes wander around the spacious office that was almost the size of his apartment. A short mocking laugh escaped his mouth at the cruelty of his life, but it went unnoticed by Siwon.

The latter stood up and walked to sit on the comfy couch, putting his ankle over his knee before motioning for Kyuhyun to come sit across from him.

Kyuhyun tried hard not to roll his eyes at how the man in front of him was definitely not the one from a few days ago. He could obviously tell that he was trying to act all tough and classy, unlike the other day when he simply looked stupid.

Taking a deep breath, he took a few steps forward and sat down in front of Siwon, eyeing the latter from head to toe in the process, noticing the neat suit he was wearing and the way it fit his body perfectly... but that’s out of topic.

“Something to drink?”

“Nope” as he crossed his arms over his chest and cutting down to the chase.

“Why am I here, Siwon-ssi?”

Siwon appreciated how the surrogate was witty because he didn't like to run around the bush.

“Well, I’ve been thinking a lot about our first meeting and I would like to try again”

He simply said, causing Kyuhyun to tilt his head to one side while knitting his eyebrows together.

“Try... as in?”

“I want you to be the surrogate to carry my child”

Kyuhyun could see how there was no hesitation in the older’s tone, but still the way he spoke and the way he put those words were really getting under his nerves.

“Sorry, but first impressions are really important to me” He faked a smile while bowing his head a bit before standing up and turning to leave.

“Wait, you’ll leave just like this?”

Siwon stood up as well, and when Kyuhyun turned around, his body tensed up when he was the older only a step away from him, and for the first time he could clearly notice Siwon’s features.

“Well, why should I stay? You clearly chose me because you thought I was a female. Sorry to disappoint, but you better find someone else”

Kyuhyun determinedly stated, making Siwon’s face expression turn stiff.

“I don’t want someone else”

One of Kyuhyun’s eyebrows rose to his hairline as he tried to read what was under Siwon’s determined tone. It couldn't be that a man like him will take a risk and choose a male to be his surrogate, can it?

“Why?” The younger crossed his arms over his chest again, pursing his lips together and waiting for what the older would say next to convince him.

“Because I trust in my intuition” Siwon confidently admitted without any doubt in his voice. However, Kyuhyun had a weird feeling about this whole matter so he decided to choose the easy way and just refuse the offer.

“Well, you got it wrong this time”

Kyuhyun turned again and started walking toward the door. However, before he could twist the doorknob, Siwon shouted after him.

“What do you want? Extra money?” Siwon didn't know why he even said that or why he was insisting on choosing Kyuhyun but he just couldn't stop himself.

With how things went out between the two so far, he was expecting the younger to lash out at him but instead, his eyes widened when the surrogate froze in place, his body trembling a bit, and looked like he was considering his offer.

Siwon frowned while shockingly adding “Really?”

KH: So arrogant... Who does he think he is? Offering me money just like that... But I really need the extra cash, what should I do? He’s clearly rich and it wouldn’t matter giving me something extra for what he’s already paying the company. I’m going to carry his baby so I deserve his money, right?

“How much?” Kyuhyun mentally cursed himself after he unconsciously blurt out.

SW: How come I’m disappointed?

“More than enough” Siwon walked back to his desk, picked up his check book and after scrolling some numbers on it, he walked back to where Kyuhyun was still standing, then he handed him the check with a kind of disgusted look on his face that luckily Kyuhyun was looking down to notice it.

The latter sighed before taking it, and when he read the amount on it and the generous number of zeros there, his eyes bulged out while his mouth fell open.

KH: This is a lot of money!

Siwon seemed angry but he didn't know why. He was the one who was insisting on making Kyuhyun his surrogate and he was the one who offered him the money in the first place. However, based on what he saw so far, he didn’t think Kyuhyun would accept it.

Siwon didn't like greedy people the most. He thought that people should earn their own money by working hard. That was how he got to where he was right then, so seeing Kyuhyun accepting the money to be his surrogate on top of what the company would clearly pay him, made him feel very disappointed because he didn’t think of him this way.

“So? Do we have a deal?”

Kyuhyun gritted his teeth in irritation as he sensed the judgment in the older’s tone, but if it was a year ago he would've never accepted such a thing because his pride would never let him. His heart was nagging him to throw the check on Siwon's face, but his brain was reminding him of one thing... Do it for Donghae.

He closed his eyes, clearing his thoughts, and when he opened them again, he looked up straight into Siwon's judgmental orbs before muttering “I’ll see you soon then”

As he stepped outside the office, his eyes started to brim with tears, but he didn't let them break free. He held his head up, and walked away from the place.

It’s Choi Siwon, he’s rich and this check doesn’t change anything in his fortune... It’s for my hyung and I need this. I'll just have to carry the baby for this stupid, rich, smug man, and I can go back to my normal life after that.

Hyung, you really need to come back soon...
